Canaima & Angel Falls by Boat

This excursion will take you to one of Venezuela’s highlights, the highest waterfall of the world, the Angel Fall, with almost 1.000 meters of free fall from the Auyan Tepui Table mountain. You will take a boat trip in a wooden dugout from Canaima to the Angel Fall, hiking the last hour through rainforest to the vantage point right in front of the fall. Groups are normally conformed between 6 and 20 persons and you will have a local English speaking guide with you. You will have one overnight in hammocks. Back in Canaima and after the visit of Sapo Fall or Hacha Fall you will stay at the Parakaupa Lodge in double room with private bath.

You are only able to book this excursion in the rain season, between mid June until December.

Day 1 - We will welcome you at the airport of Ciudad Bolivar and transfer you to our Posada Angostura, which is in the middle of the Colonial Center of this city.

Day 2 - Breakfast and Transfer to the airport to take flight to Canaima.lt is aprox. 1 hour flight in small planes. Arrival in Canaima and start of the boat trip to the Angel Fall. We are taken along the Carrao and the Churun river. On the way we get to know Pozo de Felicidad (or Well of happiness), Isla Orquidea (or Orchid island), Canon del Diablo (or canon of the Devil) and Wey Tepui. We get closer to the impressive Auyan Tepui until its steep walls tower over the river. Finally we arrive at Isla de Raton (or Mouse island) where we will have lunch. Afterwards we hike for about 45 minutes through tropical rainforest until we get to the lookout point. It is located directly opposite of Salto Angel, which we can admire in its full height if the weather permits it. With its almost 1.000 meters, it is the highest waterfall in the world. Its waters form a natural pool at its base which makes it an ideal place to have a bath (it is not always possible to take a bath). We walk back to the camp where dinner is already awaiting us. We will overnight in hammocks near Isla Raton in the middle of the canon into Ayuan Tepui. (B,L,D)

Day 3 - We will have breakfast and can have a look for the last time of the Salto Angel and Auyan Tepui. Then we return by boat the same way as we came, through the beautiful savanna landscapes. We get to Canaima around noon, where we will take lunch. After it, we will go to the Salto Sapo or to the Salto Hacha, which are something special within the seven different waterfalls in the area. A path takes you behind the waterfall. Here is a good place to take a bath. We will also have a short walk through specific paths that allow to explore the surroundings. Afterwards, we will return through the lagoon to the Canaima Village and then to the Camp Parakaupa. There we will overnight In rooms with private baths. (B,L,D)

Day 4 - The morning is at your free disposal. for other excursions. If you want, you can simply explore the village or bathe in the Canaima lagoon. Around noon we will return to Ciudad Bolivar. (B)
