Florianopolis and Porto Alegre Area


These tours from Florianopolis and Porto Seguro will take us through beaches and ecological refuges that have waterfalls and canyons considered some of Brazil´s most beautiful. In Santa Catarina state, we will pass through wonderful beaches such as Guarda do Embaú, a paradise discovered by surfers back in the 70´s. We will also pass through the beautiful beaches of Florianópolis, the Magic Island.

Aparados da Serra

This region is renowned for its exquisite taste of national wines, the European-influenced towns,  special brazilian barbeques,  small organic productions and the traditional “mate” (special herb tea) drinking on late afternoons.  Apart from all the activities, you will be hosted with excellent service in charming, luxury and cozy inns. All of this together makes it the perfect destination for families, friends and couples.

Day 1  – Porto Alegre  /Cambará do Sul, Kridjijimbé and Horse back ride
Transfer from Aeroporto Salgado Filho in Porto Alegre to Cambará do Sul. Arrival and accommodation at the hotel. In the afternoon we visit Kridjijimbé, a replica of the region's canyon complex. Horse back riding through Lajeado trail. Dinner and overnight at the Hotel.

Day 2  –  Canyon Itaimbezinho and Venâncios Falls
After breakfast we visit Itaimbezinho canyon, located in Aparados da Serra National Park. Time for lunch. In the afternoon we visit Venâncios falls. Overnight at the hotel. 

Day 3  –  Canyon Fortaleza and Transfer Cambará do Sul/Gramado
Breakfast. Visit to Fortaleza canyon, in Serra Geral National Park. Free time for lunch. Transfer from Cambará do Sul to Gramado (1h30min). Check-in at the Hotel in Gramado. Dinner and overnight in Gramado. 

Day 4  –  Gramado and Canela
Breakfast. City-Tour. Transfer to Canela and city tour. Overnight in Gramado.

Day 5  – Gramado, Canela and Porto Alegre
Breakfast and check-out. Visit to Alpen Park where we will be able to experience several activities such as climbing, rapeling, canopyng, and many more. Free time for lunch. Transfer from Gramado to Salgado Filho Aiport in Prto Alegre (3h).  

Rio Grande do Sul

Day 1: Porto Alegre
Arrival and reception at Salgado Filho Airport in Porto Alegre. Accommodation at hotel in Porto Alegre and tour in the city (regular bus – Linha Turismo) and dinner.

Day 2: Porto Alegre & Refúgio Ecológico Pedra Afiada
Breakfast at the hotel and check-out. Departure from the hotel and arrival at Torres. Boat tour to the Ecological Reserve ‘Ilha dos Lobos’ (depending on the weather conditions). Typical lunch (seafood) and walking activities to Cal and Guarita Beaches where we can observe the same basaltic formations that we’ll later see at the canyons. After this, we’ll dive more 40 minutes to Praia Grande, on the bottom of Malacara Canyon.Welcome dinner and overnight at Refúgio Ecológico Pedra Afiada.

Day 3: Refúgio Ecológico Pedra Afiada
Breakfast. Trekking at the top of Canyon Itaimbezinho, including snacks and entrance fee. After the trekking, easy walk to the 70 m high waterfall at Canyon Índios Coroados. Return to the lodge. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.

Day 4: Refúgio Ecológico Pedra Afiada
Breakfast. Trekking to Fortaleza Canyon, considered one of the most beautiful canyons in Brazil. Stopping at the important sightseeing points: Morro do Quebra-cangalho, Tigre Preto Waterfall and Pedra do Segredo. Time for swimming (river). In the afternoon

Day 5: Porto Alegre
Walking trek inside the Malacara Canyon, 2 km (3 hours) walking by the river with basaltic walls in the background. Time to enjoy the landscape and for river swimming. Return to the lodge and lunch at the lodge. Check-out. Transfer to Porto Alegre.

Santa Catarina

Day 1 – Praia do Rosa
Arrival at Praia do Rosa. This beach is situated 80 kilometers south of Florianopolis and is surrounded by a wonderful green area between mountains, in the format of a half-moon. It has options for surfers, but it’s also frequented by families and couples that prefer calm waters of it’s for lagoons located behind the mountains. Its offers different ecological tracks and it’s a perfect place for surf, windsurf, raids by horseback and trekking. Another great attraction in Praia do Rosa is the whale watching observation in the months of June to October, when the ‘Southern Right Wahles’ arrive, escaping from the Antartic winter in search of warmer and calmer water to reproduce and nurture their young calves. Free day to enjoy the beach or explore the trails around the mountains and lagoons. Overnight at the pousada in Praia do Rosa.

Day 2 – Praia do Rosa
Breakfast at the pousada and free day to do activities of your choice. We recommend a walk at the beach and a swim to refresh your day. Overnight at the pousada in Praia do Rosa.

Day 3 – Guarda do Embaú
A short drive brings us to Guarda do Embau beach. The whole area is beside \"Serra do Tabuleiro State Park’’. In the 70\'s, the hippies and the old surfers discovered the place that is still a paradise. Guarda do Embaú\" (Guard of Embaú) is a long beach and the access is by the river, swiming or by local fisherman boats. Free day to enjoy the beach. If you do not wish to cross the river, we recommend a small beach on the North side, accessed by a 5 minutes trail. In the end of the day we’ll continue our trip to Florianópolis. Arrival in Florianópolis and overnight at the Pousada.

Day 4 – Florianopolis
You will be collected from your hotel. We combine a tour of the beautiful East Coast beaches: Praia Mole, Barra da Lagoa e Moçambique (or if you prefer just spend a morning relaxing in one of them) with lunch (not included) in Costa da Lagoa, an isolated fishing community with quaint and very affordable seafood restaurants run by local people. The “Ilhéu” accent and cottage fishing practices are still the order of the day here. Access to the village is by a short boat trip. If preferred the tour can be a light walk to Costa da Lagoa ( 7km - about 2 hours) with return by boat. This is a very pleasant, easy walk through some Atlantic Rainforest and some old plantation mills. Overnight at the pousada.

Day 5 – Florianopolis
Breakfast at the pousada and free day. After lunch (not included) - there are a number of restaurants facing the lagoon to try the typical local dish Sequência de Camarões (Shrimps Feast) - we’’ll continue our trip to Curitiba (Paraná State). Clients that prefer to stay in Florianopolis should ask for extra nights or additional services.

Santa Catarina Self-Drive

The accommodations are simple and the food is based on fish and seafood. Includes boat trips inside the bays and mangrove channels.

Day 1: Arrival at Florianopolis airport. You will be met by a guide that will help you with the car rental formalities and give you a road map and information about your itinerary. Pick-up car. Overnight at a local guesthouse. Florianópolis the capital of Santa Catarina has a lot to offer. From colonial fishing villages to some of the most beautiful beaches of the Catarinense coast. It´s also a great base for outdoors activities such as rafting, trekking and all kinds of water sports.

Day 2: day free to explore the island of Santa Catarina and its 42 beaches and lagoons. Overnight at guesthouse by the beach.

Day 3: Florianopolis – Pomerode (172km -approximately 2h30min) South Brazil, in special the northern part of Santa Catarina State, received a large influx of German immigrants in the middle of the 19th Century. In the region known as the European Valley, a number of small villages still retain the influence of its Germanic origins in the architecture, the local dialect and cuisine. The most well-known city is Blumenau, home to the Oktoberfest, a beer festival that is second only to Munich in number of visitors. A more authentic experience, however, is to be had in Pomerode, a small village nearby, which preserves its immigrant culture on hundreds of timber-framed houses and neat gardens. You can drive or cycle around the “enxaimel route” (bikes are available for rent from the Tourist Office) in the rural side of the town, where you can see authentic early 20th Century “fachwerk”, the typical German timber-framed houses in the middle of neat tropical gardens. Back in town sample the local beer and food at the local micro- brewery Schornstein. 

Day 4: Pomerode – Refúgio Rio Canoas, Urubici (280km - the last 30km in unpaved road approximately 4h30min) Only a few hours inland from the coast you will be in the stunningly beautiful Serra Geral mountain range. With peaks reaching up to 1800m above sea level, this is the coldest part of Brazil. Having as a base a charming mountain lodge, you canexplore its lush canyons, pristine mountain rivers, waterfalls, and araucaria forests by foot and experience the culture of the highland gauchos.

Day 5: free for optional activities around the lodge.

Day 6 – Urubici – Praia do Rosa (130 km –around 56 km on dirt road through the scenic Corvo Branco mountain road – approximately 3h30min) Praia do Rosa is frequently chosen as one of the most beautiful beaches in Brazil and is part of the “Most Beautiful Bays of the World Club”. It is an ideal place to relax in quiet surroundings with beautiful views. Good coastal walks available in the vicinity of the guesthouse. The region is also famous for surfing and, from July to November, it is an ideal base for whale watching.

Days 7 and 8: day free to relax or for local activities.

Day 9 – Praia do Rosa – Florianópolis airport (95 km- approximately 2 hours). Return the car to Florianopolis airport.
