Day 1 (Sun) - Fortaleza / City Tour
Morning visit to the city including: the coast road with the Iracema Meireles and do Futuro beaches; the Art and Popular Culture Museum, the Anthropological Museum, Cultural Metropolitano (Metropolitan Culture Centre), Fortaleza Nossa Senhora (XVII Century), the José de Alencar Theatre and the Tourism Centre, where it is not possible to resist the purchase of local artisan craft in wood, ceramic, and "fillet" and "labyrinth" lace work.

Day 2 (Mon) - Fortaleza / Cumbuco
The principal attraction of the Cumbuco beach is its dunes with their fine white sand. Here everybody has a buggy trip (optional) and goes esquibunda (optional), Ceará's most popular sport, where one boards - seated or standing - down the dunes. The buggy trips can be "with or without excitement", be prepared to negotiate dunes of up to 10 metres in height (optional). In the afternoon, there will be a shopping trip to the Central Market.

Day 3 (Tue) - Fortaleza / Canoa Quebrada / Natal
Morning trip to Canoa Quebrada with its dunes of very fine sand, colourful faults extending like a wall facing the sea and warm waves. Lunch (optional) under canvas on the coast and after passing an unforgettable day on to Fortaleza and lodgings in Natal.

Day 4 (Wed) - Natal / City Tour / Pirangi
Morning visit to the city, including the Potengi Palace, the Cathedral, Ladeira do Sol, Praia dos Artistas "Artists' Beach", Forte dos Reis Magos (Fort of the Three Kings [biblical]), Coluna Capitolina (The Capitol Column)… Along the modern Via Costeira (Coast Road), a visit to Ponta Negra (Black Point). A trip to the Rocket Launching Site at Foguetes da Barreira do Inferno and Pirangi, where the largest cashew tree in the world. At night, as an option, we would suggest the Zás-Trás club show.

Day 5 (Thr) - Natal / Jacumã
The beach 32kms north of Natal offers optimum bathing conditions as the sea is calm and clear. Jacumã also offers a complex of fixed and moving white and golden sand dunes where tourists can have an emotional ramble and also (optional) visit the Jacumã Lake set amongst the dunes where the famous sports of "aeribunda" and skibunda" (seated boarding) can be enjoyed. There is an excellent menu to choose from at the Naf-Naf restaurant in Jacumã, on the coast. This is the most charming place on the Northern Littoral!!

Day 6 (Fri) - Natal / João Pessoa
Morning departure for the Paraiban capital, complete with antiquities such as churches, museums, cultural centres, parks and old buildings. The Santa Rosa Theatre in Pedro Américo Square is one of the four oldest theatres in Brazil (1888). The St. Francisco Cultural Centre (1589) TOOK ALMOST 200 YEARS TO COMPLETE. Its Baroque group is made up of the church of St. Francisco, the convent of St. Antônio and the Popular Culture Museum, which has permanent exhibitions on folklore, xylographs and sacred art. There will be a visit to the Ilha de Areia Vermelha (the isle of the red sand) for bathing and to see the sunset on the Praia do Jacaré (Jacaré beach).

Day 7 (Sat) - João Pessoa / Igarassu / Itamaracá
Igarassu, 39kms from Recife, is located in the region where the first exploration during the Portuguese colonization took place. It is notable, also, for its religious festivals, such as the Buscada (search) de St. Gonçalo do Amarante and for the Saints Cosme and Damião, whose church is the oldest still standing in Brazil (1535). We will visit the famous Ilha (Island) de Itamaracá and the Orange Fort (entrance optional), from where we can cross over to Coroa do Avião to enjoy bathing, water sports and delicious seafood (optional trip).

Day 8 (Sun) - Recife / City Tour / Olinda
Visit to the city, including the beach, Boa Viagem church, the Capibaribe and Beberibe Rivers and the Capela Dourada (Golden Chapel). Trip to the Forte das Cinco Pontas (the Five Points Fort), Ruas (streets) do Sol and da Aurora (Old Recife), Forte do Brum (Brum Fort), Pátio de St. Pedro, Campo das Princesas, the Maurício de Nassau Bridge (the oldest in Brazil). Visit to the city of Olinda - Historic and artistic monument (said title awarded by UNESCO), the Heights and church da Sé (1537), the old slave market, the steep streets and convent of St. Francisco (1585), the Episcopal Palace…… Free time to go shopping for artisan craft. We recommend a schooner trip to enjoy the Capibaribe and Beberibe rivers and the Brazilian "Venice" (optional).


Day 9 (Mon) - Recife / Porto Galinhas / Maceió
Morning journey to Porto de Galinhas, one of the surfing paradises on the Pernambucan Littoral. Our itinerary of sun and sea along the vast Brazilian littoral, scene of the most beautiful beaches in the world, continues, now, on the littoral of Pernambuco and Alagoas, where reefs, extensive coconut groves and primitive beaches, such as St. Miguel dos Milagros, Japaratinga and Maragogi, predominate. We continue through small nuclei of sugar cane, and sugar mills. Arrival in Maceió, the famous and busy capital of Alagoas.

Day 10 (Tue) - Maceió / City Tour / Ilha da Croa (Croa Island)
Morning, visit to the Alagoan capital, Praias 9beaches) de Pajuçara, Jatiuca e Sete Coqueiros (seven coconut groves). The square and church of the Martyrs, the Government Palace, Mirante (viewpoint) de St. Terezinha, the Cathedral, the Mundaú and Manguaba lakes, Pontal (point) da Barra, where we find "fillet" and "labyrinth" lace craftsmanship. We continue on to the northern seaboard, to the Barra de St. Antônio, and by boat on to the Ilha da Croa, which is very interesting. There is an optional trip by catamaran to the mangroves, where one an visit the Nature Reserve and bathe in the river or sea.

Day 11 (Wed) - Maceió / Marechal Deodoro / Praia Francês
Visit to the historic city of Marechal Deodoro, 31kms from Maceió, with its important architectural, artistic and religious heritage from colonial Brazil. Here Marechal (Marshall [Military]) Deodoro da Fonseca, who proclaimed the Republic, was born. The principal attractions are the Convent of St. Francisco (1684), the original church of Our Lady of Conception (N.S. da Conceição) (1755) and the Museum of Sacred Art, sited in a XVIII Century Franciscan convent. The city is sited by Lake Manguaba, with its marshy islands, boat trips and bars. We go on to the "French Beach" (Praia do Francês), with its warm and crystal waters.

Day 12 (Thr) - Maceió / Foz de St. Francisco + Penedo / Aracaju
After breakfast, trip in catamaran to the paradise of Foz do (estuary of the) "St. Francisco River", with its deep, green waters. Old "Chico" is an icon that is part of Penedo's local folklore. Lunch is on board, anchored in the estuary, from where we can walk along the dune covered beaches and bathe in the waters. The trip finishes in the city of Piaçabuçu, where we continue on to Penedo. We take a walk to see the historic sights of the city and continue our trip to Aracaju.

Day 13 (Fri) - Aracaju / São Cristóvão / Mangue Seco / Salvador
Morning departure for São Cristóvão. SÃO CRISTOVÃO, the first capital of Sergipe, a position which was lost when the then provincial president, Inácio Joaquim Barbosa, moved the capital to Aracaju. Registered as a National Heritage since '1939, São Cristóvão has developed according to the Portuguese urban model at two levels: the high city with its port and industries, and a low-income level populace. The façades of the houses segregate the social divisions of colonial Brazil, representing each power group. The shores and floors show the passing of those who dwelled there. Rich and poor, with or without power. Launch to Mangue Seco (trip not included in cost), to the land of Tieta do Agreste, the unforgettable figure of Jorge Amado. The sand invading the coconut groves and the sea should not be missed.

Day 14 (Sat) - Salvador / Itaparica and Frade Islands
All Saints' Bay (Baía de Todos os Santos), with an extension of 1100 square kilometres is the largest in Brazil and has more than 50 islands to visit. Its primitive beaches hide sunken ships. Its largest island Itaparica, 17km from Salvador, has a good infrastructure and excellent hotels. Its 240 square kilometres are divided into the municipalities of Itaparica and Vera Cruz. The coral reefs backed onto the Atlantic create natural pools which are good for diving. We can bathe from the islands of Itaparica and Frade and we can enjoy (an optional) marvellous and traditional trip by schooner.

Day 15 (Sun) - Salvador / Historical sightseeing tour / Abaeté Lake

In the morning we will journey along the northern littoral of the Rio Grande do Norte, where we will visit the "Praia de Pipa" (Pipa's beach) and its dolphins. Pipa is an ecological sanctuary, where the Atlantic forests cover the ancient coastal dunes. Overnight in Natal.
