Multi Active Trip in Northern Chile

We now offer an outdoor orientated, fully
guided multi-activity tour around the massive volcanoes and mountain ranges
of the Chilean north. We have designed this tour to take fullest advantage
of the regions highlights from the special proximity to nature which hiking,
biking and horseback riding gives.
Enjoy the relaxed atmosphere of the small oasis town of San Pedro de Atacama
as the centre for our expeditions and adventures. We'll take you through
the most beautiful parts of this region such as the Death Valley, the
Moon Valley, the geysers of El Tatio, Salar de Atacama and much more.
Enjoy a great combination of hiking, horse-riding, sand-boarding and mountain
biking. We'll spend our time enjoying adventurous activities and some
relaxation, while minimizing our time spent in a vehicle.
Our tour is designed for active people with a reasonable level of fitness
, an interest in outdoor activities and cultural discovery. Previous experience
in these outdoor activities is not required - our well trained guides
and excellent equipment will ensure that even if you haven't ridden a
horse or bicycle before, you'll really enjoy yourself. We'll explore some
unusual and isolated places you probably wouldn't find on your own , all
set in the breathtaking scenery of the driest desert in the world.

Biking: moderate distances between
30-45 km with slacker van support at all times, quality well maintained
mountain bikes, helmet and gloves provided and recommended.
Hiking: walks are designed to be a
safe, challenging means of getting closer to some tremendous natural sights.
Options to ride in a vehicle to reduce physical stress provided.
Horseback: A qualified gaucho guide
will always be with the group. Horses apt for non-riders are available.
Sand Surfing: All guides are fully
qualified. Modern professional equipment is used throughout.
Day 1 - Transfer In Calama Airport
- San Pedro
Day 2 B/BL - Early morning departure from San Pedro on horseback.
Interior trails lead us towards the death valley, part of cordillera de
la sal (salt mountain range). You will be amazed by strange and beautiful
geological formations sculpted through wind and water erosion . After
a chance to try your hand at sand surfing from the highest dunes, we will
return to the hotel.
After a relaxed lunch we put on our hiking boots and head once more towards
the cordillera de la sal. Enjoy an afternoon's trekking into the
Kari Gorge amongst astounding and bizarre rock formations. Continuing
to the Moon Valley experience the solitude of the driest desert in the
world. Watch the spectacular and colorful sunset from "Duna Grande
" - the Big Dune. Return by vehicle to your hotel in San Pedro

Day 3 B/BL - This mornings' activities
take us first to the Gatchi Gorge, where we hike through canyons
leading us to the puritama river. En route we will visit some Atacamenian
cultural ruins. After about 3 hours, we will reach the source of the Puritama
river at a height of 3500 (m.a.s.l.).
Enjoy a good soak in the therapeutical waters. After lunch we continue
to the "Cuesta del Diablo " ( Devils hill ) at 3800 (m.a.s.l).
Here we will hop on our mountain bikes to pedal back to San Pedro
de Atacama.
Level: easy
Hiking: 4 hrs
Biking Distance: 30 km downhill
Day 4 B/BL - We leave the village early this morning on our mountain
bikes and head to the Atacama Salt Flats. After about 18 kms, enjoy
a break to float in the salty water of the Cejas lagoon and appreciate
the amazing scenery. Continue in our vehicle to Tambillo, in the National
Flamingo Reserve, here you can see the wonderful Tamarugo trees whose
ripe seeds provide food for the Atacameño families´ livestock.
Further on we reach Tocoooa, built completely out of volcanic stone. After
lunch in Toconao our road carries us to Talabre gorge and village located
at 3500 (m.a.s.l). Once again we mount our bikes to ride downhill 17 km
to the edge of the Salar de Atacama to view the brightly colored flamingoes.
After Sunset we return to San Pedro de Atacama.

Day 5 B/BL - This morning we rise
before dawn to leave San Pedro by 4 am. Drive to the El Tatio Geysers
- the worlds highest geothermal field. 4300 ( m.a.s.l) The early dawn
light gives a special magic to the spouting mist. After breakfast we start
to hike uphill to reach the top of the Zoquete mountain - your reward
for this strenuous activity is the breathtaking view 5600-5700 (m.a.s.l.).
Level: moderate-strenuous (because of acclimatization)
Hiking: 5-6 hrs
Day 6 B - Transfer Out San Pedro -
Calama Airport
