Get
your motor running, fill up your soul with spirit of adventure and get
ready to take off! This programme gives you the flexibility to choose
between two categories of hotels. budget or upscale. following a fixed
route.
Day 1 - Arrival in San Jose. Meet and greet at the airport and
transfer to the hotel of your choice. Fleur de Lys
Day 2 - (B) After breakfast, you will pick up the rental car at
your hotel for the trip to the Arenal Volcano, located about 3 hours drive
from San Jose. San Bosco Hotel. It has 34 rooms, each with a private bathroom
with hot water, cable TV, a/c and fan. Guests have access to a parking
lot, private security, swimming pool, and Jacuzzi, wireless and fixed
internet at no extra charge, tour desk, beautiful gardens, free coffee
and tea. In addition, the hotel has three balconies and an observatory
deck from which visitors may observe the majestic Arenal Volcano (the
areas main attraction), many restaurants nearby, laundry service,
safe deposit, mailbox, local calls and friendly staff. Activities include
guided tours to the Tabacón thermal springs, the Arenal Volcano,
horseback riding, and tours to Caño Negro Wildlife Reserve (excellent
for birdwatchers). Ideal for easy-going clients
looking for a well located option in the town, from which they can move
around easily (restaurants and shops are within walking distance).

Day 3 - (B) Free day for optional
activities such as tour to Cano Negro Wildlife Refuge. horseback riding,
a visit to Arenal Volcano or a relaxed dip at the Tabacon Hot Springs.
The Arenal Volcano, which has been in constant activity for more than
30 years, is definitively the main attraction in this area.
Day
4 - (B) Drive to Monteverde, a small rural community nestled in the
highlands of the Tilaran Mountain Range. Today's drive (4 hours) will
take you around Arenal Lake, passing by picturesque small towns and driving
on a bumpy road in the last part of the trip. Monteverde's main attractions
include the Cloud Forest Reserve, home of one of the richest ecological
habitats in the country. Cloud Forest Lodge. This lodge features a total
of 20 rooms; all have one double and one single bed, as well as private
bathroom with hot water. The rooms are surrounded by lush vegetation.
Telephone service is available at the reception desk, and there is a TV
in the lounge (the rooms do not have TVs since the aim is to provide a
peaceful, relaxed atmosphere in which nature can be fully appreciated.)
Other facilities include bar and restaurant service, horseback riding
tours, the Canopy Tour (sliding along wires that hang from one treetop
to another), as well as the lodge's 5 Km/3.10 mile private trails, and
70 acres of primary and secondary forests. The restaurant has a good view
of the Gulf of Nicoya.Ideal for birdwatchers and
nature lovers that are active, enjoy the wilderness, and like to stay
at rustic mountain lodges. This is a high altitude region (1400 meters/4592
feet above sea level), and temperatures can drop to 12º C. Therefore,
we recommend that you bring a jacket, and a raincoat (after all, it is
the rainforest!). Four wheel drive vehicles are highly recommended for
those finding their own way there.
Day 5 - (B) Free day for optional
activities such as guided hikes to Monteverde Reserve, the Sky Trek and
the Sky Walk, canopy tour and the butterfly garden.
Day
6 - (B) After breakfast, check out from your Monteverde hotel and
drive towards the Manuel Antonio National Park area (about 4 hours). On
the way you may visit the Carara National Park, an ideal spot to observe
the beauty of a tropical forest and its abundant wildlife. Balance of
day at leisure in Manuel Antonio. Casitas Eclipse is an exuberant Mediterranean
- style hotel, located at the highest peak of Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica.
Just in front of the hotel, the main road that heads to Manuel Antonio
National Park and to the beach makes them accessible in just 5 minutes.
This main road also gives easy access to restaurants, bars, banks and
other stores. Behind the property, you can enjoy the exquisite view of
the Manuel Antonio National Park.
The hotel is surrounded by exotic gardens which combined with their strategic location right next to the National Park, enables guests to enjoy within premises, the occasional visits of monkeys, iguanas, sloths, exotic birds, colored frogs and other wildlife. Environmental protection is a main priority and Casitas Eclipse is the only hotel in the area having an eco touristic project which treats residual waters in an environmental friendly fashion. We support working in a sustainable manner with nature. All types of activities and expeditions can be booked at the front desk: Water rafting, canopy tours, horseback riding, sport fishing, tours to the mangroves swamps and to the rainmaker (rain forest hiking).

Day 7 - (B) Day at leisure at the Manuel Antonio
National Park area. Optional tours such as rafting trips and guided walks
are suggested

Day 8 (B) After breakfast, drive to the international airport in
San Jose (approx. 3t hours), where you will drop off the rental car before
taking your flight back home.

* Private Transfers Alternative: A private driver will pick up the clients directly at the hotel and will take them to the next destination. The schedules can be flexible (unless they have to connect with other transfers or be in a certain place at a specific moment) and they do not have to wait for other clients, since this is a private service.
**Shared Transportation Alternative: This service works on routes and pre-established schedules. A driver picks up the clients in different hotels and goes directly (without stopping) to the destination. Once there, the driver goes to the different hotels to leave the passengers. This is called door-to-door Ground operation. An individual client usually travels with other tourists that he/she does not know.
***Rental Car Alternative: Renting a car is a convenient way to move around the country as it gives you the freedom to explore at will. Our preferred car rental companies offer a complete list of services, including a modern fleet of vehicles and pick-up and drop-off services in San José as well as in the main tourist destinations. We would recommend a 4WD whenever possible and depending on the places you wish to visit, as they are more robust vehicles and a more reliable option for difficult roads. The rate provided does not include the Mandatory Insurance (USD 18.00 per day of rent). Clients will pick up the vehicle (Daihatsu Bego 4x4) on Day 03 and return it on Day 09. This alternative does not include the Horseback Riding Tour Fortuna-Monteverde.
