Huchuy Qosqo - Lamay Trek

2days/1camp with full board

CRISS-CROSSED BY THOUSANDS OF TRAILS, THE MOUNTAINS OF CUSCO OFFER ENDLESS POSSIBILITIES FOR LONG OR SHORT TREKS. THIS IS A TWO-DAY HIKE. IT TAKES YOU THROUGH BEAUTIFUL SCENERY IN THE MOUNTAINS NORTH OF CUSCO AND THROUGH SELDOM-VISITED COMMUNITIES TO THE LITTLE-KNOW RUINS OF HUCHUY-QOSQO, PERCHED ABOVE THE SACRED VALLEY.

Day 1: Patabamba / Huchuy Qosqo (L,D)
We will drive from the city of Cusco to the village of Patabamba (3,700m).
We drive from the city of Cusco to the communities of Patabamba perched high above the Sacred Valley of the Incas. From there we follow a trail which will descend into a valley to the village of Pucamarca.
Just beyond the village the valley narrows dramatically where a series of Inca steps will lead us down into ruins of Huchuy Qosqo. Huchuy Qosqo is situated above the Urubamba Valley, with the village of Lamay far below.
Huchuy Qosqo was an administrative centre just like Pisaj, and boasts the remains of finely constructed stone buildings in the classic Inca imperial style. The centre also possesses granaries, indicating that it was an important agricultural centre. Camp

Day 2: Huchuy Qosqo / Lamay (B,L)
Continuing along our magnificent route, with the dark peak of Pitusiray ahead of us, we eventually pass through an Inca gateway made from stone and adobe. To descend into the valley we must take a steep path to the village of Lamay, from where we will return by road to Cusco or continue to the village of Urubamba.
