Around the Ilha Grande - 1 week (7 days/6 nights)

Ilha Grande - Just a few hours from Rio de Janeiro, on the south region of the state, we present ILHA GRANDE (Big Island), a natural resort with 106 different paradise-like beaches on 192 square km of Atlantic forest, rivers, mountains, hiking trails, caves, lots of nature and wild life. The history of the island since colonial times, explains the island's preservation of its natural resources to this day. The beautiful scenery of the island like the blue-green colors of its clear waters and the dense green of its rich forest enchants and captivates everyone who visits the islands.

Day 1 Transfer from Rio to Mangaratiba or Angra dos Reis by air-conditioned car;
Transfer from Mangaratiba or Angra dos Reis by ferryboat to Abraao - main village of Ilha Grande;
Reception on Arrival by bilingual eco-guide and walking transfer to Cavalo Marinho or similar;
Reconnaissance Tour - Historical and Cultural;
Dinner at typical restaurant;
Overnight at Inn.

Day 2 08:00 - breakfast at the Inn;
Beginning, hiking from Abraao village to Saco do Ceu passing by Feiticeira falls and beach;
Saco do Ceu area a (meaning Sky Bay) is a small bay with still waters that received its name because at night you can admire the reflection of the stars on the oceans´ surface. Then continuing, a quick stop at a bridge at the end of this bay to visit a small fishermen's´ village and a natural saltwater marsh that serves as a maternity ward to various species of marine life;
Lunch-box will be offered;
Continuing the tour, walking to the Freguesia de Santana church, (built in 1796). This location was the first place in Ilha Grande to be populated, and in the last century, it was the center for economical development of the island housing a slave colony. Today, it is an important historical location. After that, visit the Lagoa Azul point (Blue Lagoon), with awesome locations that protect its unspoiled natural environments. This lagoon affording blue transparent waters, you will find an abundance of colorful corals and fish which feed off of your hand (all of this is what turns the Blue Lagoon one of the most visited locations in Ilha Grande);
Dinner and overnight at Enseada do Bananal.

Day 3 08:00 - breakfast at the Inn;
Walking tour from Bananal to Longa beach;
Continuing by boat, visit Lagoa Verde (Green Lagoon), home to shallow, transparent, ad calm waters. It is one of the only locations in Brazil that has green corals at the bottom of the ocean, with many fish and starfish. Lagoa Verde is a perfect place for swimming and snorkeling. Lunch-box will be offered;
Dinner and overnight at Araçatiba village.

Day 4 08:00 - breakfast at the Inn;
Walking to Aventureiro beach, one of the main postal cards of the island with the famous coconut tree, perfect waves for the surfers and clean waters. Possibility to visit the Gruta do Acaiá (an ocean cave) located south of the big island between the bay and the open sea. There will be an anchoring next to a large rocky coast and a walk thru a tunnel by land to the bottom of the sea cave that is located 5 meters below sea level. Inside, we witness an undisputed spectacle of color and light, for the sunlight reaches the dark cave filtered thru the ocean waters, creating a beautiful lake of blue light. Lunch-box will be offered;
Dinner and overnight at Native house or camping.

Day 5 08:00 - breakfast;
Departure to know the beautiful Parnaióca, one of the most isolated beaches of the island. Ruins of the old constructions done by slaves are one of the few vestiges of the great community that lived here. Nowadays a few people live here. The Parnaioca river is another beauty that deserves to be known and perfect to a revitalizing bath.
Lunch-box and dinner at this beach.
Overnight at Native house or camping.

Day 6 05:00 - breakfast;
Early the morning, walking to the Dois Rios beach with her white sands and shallow fund and blue green waters. Rivers drains on each extremity of the beautiful beach, giving to the place the name of DOIS RIOS (two rivers). Mangrove trees grown in these rivers and lots of fishes raise in this perfect ecosystem. On the past, the prison placed there will do the Ilha Grande fame. Today only ruins of the old prison exist and the property is being administered by the State University of Rio de Janeiro - SURJ that set up a Center of Environmental Studies and Sustained Development. Lunch included. Return to Abraao Village.
Optional, walking tour to visit the Caxadaço beach, famous as one of the most important point of Brazilian coast and Lopes Mendes, without a doubt, is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. With its fine white sand and crystal clear waters, it captivates all whom visit it. This beach varies I waves that please all from the passive bather to the experienced surfer. Ranging 2,8 KM in extension, a small creek runs into the ocean at the end of it, in addition to a small chapel and a mosaic done by Silvio Cavalheiro on the ruins of a ship;
Return by boat to Abraao village;
Dinner at typical restaurant;
Overnight at Cavalo Marinho Inn or similar.

Day 7 08:00 - breakfast at the Inn;
Departure in the morning or walking tour to visit the near beaches;
17:30 - departure from Abraao village to Mangaratiba by ferry-boat;
19:00 - Transfer from Mangaratiba to Rio de Janeiro or Paraty.
