Pousada Rio Mutum

Pousada do Rio Mutum has been constructed according to international standards taking into account in particular the demands of modern eco-tourism and the interests of sport-fishing and is probably the upscale choice in the northern Pantanal.It is situated between the lakes Sia Mariana and Chacorore within one of the most beautiful regions of the Panatanal of Mato Grosso. The Pousada itself belongs to the county of Barao do Melgaco, which comprises more than 11.000 square-kilometers, 97% of which remain flooded during the rainy season. Whereas during that period the temperature will always be high, also during nighttime (between 25 and 40 degree Celsius), winds can be quite chilly during wintertime (June to August, when it does not rain at all) and temperatures may fall below 10-15 degrees.The Pousada do Rio Mutum lies, as its name indicates, at the river Mutum, shortly before it terminates in the great lakes, the biggest, the Baia de Chacorore, having a diameter of more than 15 km.

With so much water the Pantanal is above all a paradise for fishes and birds and thus for fishers and ornithologists or bird-watchers. There live, however, many other kinds of animals in the Pantanal and you may encounter crocodiles and jaguars, tapirs, monkeys of various kinds and deers, capybaras as well as anacondas and anteaters, and many more.

  Sample Itineraries

  Day 1 Cuiaba/Pantanal - Reception and assistance upon your arrival at Cuiaba Airport. Transfer to the Pousada Rio Mutum, passing through the small village of Mimoso, where Candido Rondon was born. Arrival at the Pousada at dinner time (reception with welcome drink). After dinner the facilities of the Pousada as well as the program for the next days will be presented.
  

  Day 2 Pantanal - After breakfast: ecological hiking tour through the wilderness of the Pantanal, visiting some settlements of the native “caboclos” with their palm thatched huts. People’s hospitality will provide you with a lot of impressions of their lives together with a very stimulating drink of genuine “guarana”. Lunch at the lodge and after lunch: Horse trekking through typical Pantanal landscapes. reception at a Fazenda which is situated at the lake Sia Mariana, awaiting sunset there. People will return from there by boat. On the way back there is an opportunity of Piranha fishing
  

  Day 3 Pantanal / Cuiaba - After breakfast return to Cuiaba Airport and departure.

Lunch is at the lodge and in the afternoon a ride by car or boat will take you to the Mutum River for a photographic safari of na almost unexplored area of the river, with boat ride to observe all the Pantanal life.
  

  Day 4 Pantanal / Cuiaba - After breakfast return to Cuiaba Airport and departure.
