Panama Self-Drive Tour

Our “Panama Self-Drive” is a special tour that gives you the liberty to explore the charming contrasts and amazing beauty of Panama on your own. Your vehicle will be delivered to your hotel. You set the time for each day’s adventure and decide whether to stay longer at your favorite national park or have a picnic at a beautiful beach on the Pacific coast.

Day 1: Arrival to Panama
Upon your arrival to the international airport you will be met by a representative and transferred to your hotel in Panama City. Spend the night at a hotel of your choice in the city or Canopy Tower. (Canopy Tower has a 3 night minimum)

Day 2: Sobernia National Park & Gamboa Rainforest Resort or Canopy Tower
Your rental car will be delivered to your hotel in the morning. You’ll receive a map and the complete itinerary for your adventure. Your excursion begins with a drive through Soberania National Park in Gamboa where you can observe the rainforest, birds and plants. Arrive at the GAMBOA RAINFOREST RESORT where you can take a tour of one of the many nature trails here. You will spend the night at GAMBOA RAINFOREST RESORT, where you will have an incredible view of the rainforest. (BL)

Day 3: Gamboa Rainforest Resort or Canopy Tower
Drive to the Soberania National Park, where you can hike different trails of the area, we suggest Pipeline Road or Plantation road. This park forms an ecological corridor connecting the Soberania and Metropolitan National Parks. You can hike the trails of both parks for nature observation or take optional tours at the hotel. Spend the night at Gamboa Rainforest Resort. (B)

Day 4: Portobelo, Isla Grande, Bananas Village Resort
Drive across the Isthmus to the Caribbean side. Stop at Portobelo, where you can observe Spanish colonial ruins and fortifications raided by pirates such as Sir Francis Drake, who died and received sea burial in the bay. Take a short visit to the town’s church known for the famous Black Christ, where you will hear the legend and the many miracles attributed to him. Then head to the coastal town of La Guaira, where you will find facilities to park your vehicle. A yellow boat will take you to Isla Grande, where you can dive, snorkel and kayak. Have dinner and spend the night at Bananas Village Resort. (B, L or D)

Day 5: Isla Grande, Bananas Village
Discover this fascinating island at your leisure. Take the optional boat excursions and go snorkeling in the coral reefs. Enjoy life on the beach, kayaking and swimming or relax on the crystal waters of the Caribbean. Dinner and lodging at Bananas Village Resort. (B, L or D)

Day 6: Cocle, Posada del Cerro La Vieja o El Valle Park Eden
Drive to the Pacific side of Panama to La Posada del Cerro La Vieja, located in the Mesoamerican Corridor, joining the two mountainous areas of Escaliche and the Anton Valley. La Posada is also part of an ecological project in Central America to protect the native wildlife. Night at La Posada del Cerro La Vieja. (BLD)

Day 7: Posada del Cerro La Vieja or El Valle Park Eden
Hike through gorgeous and unusual mountain scenery or relax and enjoy nature while bathing in a pool at the foot of a 90-foot waterfall. (BLD)

Day 8: Panama
On your way back to Panama City stop at one of the many the pacific beaches for a relaxing swim. Return your vehicle at your hotel in Panama City. (B)

Day 9: Departure Panama City
Your host will meet and assist you with your transfer to the airport for your flight home.
