Pantanal and Bonito Tours

Day 1- After arriving at the Campo Grande airport, you will be met and transferred to Bonito (330km), leaving at 14h30 and arriving approximately at 8 pm. Check in to Hotel Cabanas for overnight. Cabins are distributed over 30 hectares of greenery between 2 rivers of crystal clear waters: Formoso and Formosinho. It has ample rooms, equipped with air conditioning, television and mini-bar. Huge green area, swimming pool, tubing tour, exuberant fauna and flora, with it's more than 1500m wooden trail on the shore of the Formoso River, where you can see animals such as: coatis, wild pig, toucans, macaws and many species of ancient trees.

Day 2 - Breakfast. Right after breakfast we shall visit one of the most famous places of Bonito, the Lago Azul grotto. Blue Lake Cave is doubtless the most beautiful and imposing cave of the region. It is approximately 400 million years old. The access is by stairway with 292 steps that descends to the level where we see the lake rich in water with calcium carbonate and magnesium that gives its blue color of hypnotic intensity. It’s the largest submerged gallery in the world. Divers have reached depths of 57 meters and found fossils of pre-historic animals, such as the giant sloth, saber-tooth tiger and others.

Then visit the Sucuri River. This is some of the clearest river water in the world, with a visibility and transparency of 100%, due to the calcareous composition of the soil. Visit to the headwaters were we see the water come out the sand in a phosphorescent blue and green color. Afterwards, floating snorkeling for 2 km down in the main current to observe flora and fauna of the river. Unforgettable! Included equipment: snorkel, mask, life-vest and back up boat.

Day 3 - Breakfast, then transfer Xaraes lodge

Day 4 - Breakfast. Tour according to lodge arrangements. Lunch at the lodge restaurant. Afternoon tour. Dinner. Option to do night tour. Overnight.

Day 5 - Breakfast. Morning tour according to lodge arrangements. Lunch. Afternoon tour. Dinner. Overnight.

Day 6 - Breakfast. Morning tour. Check out. Transfer to Campo Grande airport.

General Information
Included: group transfer Campo grande to Bonito, private transfers Bonito/Pantanal/Campo grande with Portugese-speaking driver, Tours in Bonito and in Pantanal with English-speaking guides; Full board in Pantanal and breakfasts in Bonito; accomodation in air conditioned rooms; and all activities above mentioned.

Transportation among the different places Bonito-Caiman, etc. went off with out a hitch, the tours in bonito were just perfect and we did see an anaconda in the water. 7 Day Itinerary

Day 01. Campo Grande – Pantanal Fazenda (Farm)
Departure from Campo Grande, the capital of the State of Mato Grosso do Sul. Regular transfer to the Farm. Arrival in the Farm and check-in.

Day 02-04. Activities at the Farm
Days for activities in the farm, including: horse riding, walking, safari (wildlife watching), boat for sport fishing. Overnight at the Farm.

Day 04. Farm – Bonito
After lunch, regular transfer from the Farm to Bonito. (4 hours trip). Arrival in Bonito. Overnight at the Hotel.

Day 05. Activities in Bonito
After breakfast, transfer to Rio da Prata (snorkeling + horse riding). The activity begins in one of the springs of Olho d’Água River, starting with a walk in an interpretative trail by the riparian forest, observing birds and other wild animals. In the end of the path we start the floating, where the visitors can float inside an immense natural aquarium of extremely rich, crystalline waters with abundant wildlife. After the acivity we’ll try a delicious typical lunch. After lunch, horseback riding in the farm. The equipments for floating/horse riding activities are included. Distance: 55 km. Full Day tour. Transfer to Hotel. Overnight at the Hotel.

Day 06. Activities in Bonito
After breakfast, transfers and visit to the world-famous Gruta do Lago Azul (Blue Lake Cave). It’s a natural monument with beautiful ornaments inside, such as stalagmites, stalactites and an enormous lake of blue water. The silence makes you interact with nature and enjoy a great spectacle of nature. Distance: 18 km (1 hour). Half day tour. Transfer to hotel. Afternoon free. Overnight at the Pousada.

Day 07. Bonito – Campo Grande
After breakfast, regular transfer from Bonito to Campo Grande

Xaraes Lodge
Located 340 kilometers from the city of Campo Grande, in the South Pantanal, to be exact 21 kilometers from Passo do Lontra, on the Park Road, the Xaraés Lodge has been totally remodeled and rededicated in 2004. The 17 apartments are distributed in three buildings, all within meters from the Abobral River where one can listen and observe the privileged nature of the Pantanal. The Xaraés Lodge functions inside a 4.200-hectare-farm where 1.500 heads of cattle are kept. All meals and tours are included as well as the accompaniment of specialized guides both in Spanish and English. All apartments have air-conditioned, mini-bar, telephone and private bath. Each apartment building has is a verandah with ceiling fan and hammocks. They are:- 8 doubles - 6 triples - 3 quadruples Total capacity: 46 persons
