Pantanal and Bonito Tours

Day 1- After arriving at the Campo Grande airport, you will be met and transferred to Bonito (330km), check in to Hotel Cabanas for overnight. Cabins are distributed over 30 hectares of greenery between 2 rivers of crystal clear waters: Formoso and Formosinho. It has ample rooms, equipped with air conditioning, television and mini-bar. Huge green area, swimming pool, tubing tour, exuberant fauna and flora, with it's more than 1500m wooden trail on the shore of the Formoso River, where you can see animals such as: coatis, wild pig, toucans, macaws and many species of ancient trees.

Day 2 - Breakfast. Right after breakfast we shall visit one of the most famous places of Bonito, the Lago Azul grotto. Blue Lake Cave is doubtless the most beautiful and imposing cave of the region. It is approximately 400 million years old. The access is by stairway with 292 steps that descends to the level where we see the lake rich in water with calcium carbonate and magnesium that gives its blue color of hypnotic intensity. It’s the largest submerged gallery in the world. Divers have reached depths of 57 meters and found fossils of pre-historic animals, such as the giant sloth, saber-tooth tiger and others.

Then visit the Sucuri River. This is some of the clearest river water in the world, with a visibility and transparency of 100%, due to the calcareous composition of the soil. Visit to the headwaters were we see the water come out the sand in a phosphorescent blue and green color. Afterwards, floating snorkeling for 2 km down in the main current to observe flora and fauna of the river. Unforgettable! Included equipment: snorkel, mask, life-vest and back up boat.

Day 3 - Breakfast, then transfer to one of the Pantanal lodges

Day 4 - Breakfast. Tour according to lodge arrangements. Lunch at the lodge restaurant. Afternoon tour. Dinner. Option to do night tour. Overnight.

Day 5 - Breakfast. Morning tour according to lodge arrangements. Lunch. Afternoon tour. Dinner. Overnight.

Day 6 - Breakfast. Morning tour. Check out. Transfer to Campo Grande airport.

General Information

Transportation among the different places Bonito-Caiman, etc. went off with out a hitch, the tours in bonito were just perfect and we did see an anaconda in the water. Xaraes Lodge
Located 340 kilometers from the city of Campo Grande, in the South Pantanal, to be exact 21 kilometers from Passo do Lontra, on the Park Road, the Xaraés Lodge has been totally remodeled and rededicated in 2004. The 17 apartments are distributed in three buildings, all within meters from the Abobral River where one can listen and observe the privileged nature of the Pantanal. The Xaraés Lodge functions inside a 4.200-hectare-farm where 1.500 heads of cattle are kept. All meals and tours are included as well as the accompaniment of specialized guides both in Spanish and English. All apartments have air-conditioned, mini-bar, telephone and private bath. Each apartment building has is a verandah with ceiling fan and hammocks. They are:- 8 doubles - 6 triples - 3 quadruples Total capacity: 46 persons

Pousada Refúgio da Ilha
Located two hours and a half from Campo Grande, in the Southern part of the Pantanal, the Pousada Refúgio da Ilha is an ecological paradise on the banks of the clean waters of the Salobra River that here, divides itself in two arms forming an island. With an ecosystem totally preserved, it has an area of 1.800 hectares, habitat of the representative fauna of the Pantanal which can be observed during tours. The charming lodge offers the possibility of tranquility and comfort appropriated to an unforgettable stay and personalized service.
