High Pantanal Tours

High Pantanal: Rivers with defined courses bordered by forests; aquatic birds such as egrets and herons, and animals such as caimans, otters and capybaras; the best way to explore this area is by boat, especially in the Dry Season.

We can combine a few days in a High Pantanal Lodge with a few days at a Low Pantanal, Jaguar Seeking Lodge or in the Chapada Das Guimaraes or southern Amazon to give you more variety.

Canto do Arancua (also see Pantanal Wildlife Center)

Day 01_. Transfer to the town of Poconé with introduction to the geological formation and flora characteristics, then to the lodge, arriving there after a long safari along the Transpantaneira park-road with many stops to observe its rich fauna. Dinner and overnight.

Day 02_ In the morning is a silent boat trip through a river, with varied environments and large possibility of seeing the Giant Otters. In the afternoon is a horseback riding through the savannah and dense forests, where rare species of animals, such as Tapirs, can be seen. Dinner and a night safari with large possibility of seeing nocturnal animals.

Day 03_. In the morning is a walk through a dense forest which is home to a large variety of animals including rare birds. Return for lunch and immediate departure to other destination at the convenient time.

We come back to Taiwan from Pantanal. I would like to thank you for the arrangement. It was perfect! The local guide speaks English fluently with plenty of knowledge. He is with all his passion to the job. He is the best guide I have ever met. We saw a lot of birds and some animals. Ms Tang Yu-Hua

One of the highlights of our trip was our visit to the Pantanal for 4 wonderful days. Thanks to our guide, we had an exceptional time. He met us at the airport and was our private guide for the trip. We started with a visit to a small village Bom Jardim as I requested a place to snorkel. We spent a little over an hour snorkeling and saw about 10 kinds of fish; some very colorful. We floated peacefully down the river and it was quite fun. He suggested we visit Macaw’s Lake to view the Macaws who show up at sunset for a spectacular showing. I was impressed that the guide set up his spotting scope for us to use which added to the trip. I also took over the use of his binoculars which were better than mine. He didn't need them as I swear he can see birds with his eyes closed. We spent most of the following day driving to Pousada Canto do Arancua with multiple stops to view the animals along the way. He was very knowledgeable about the geography, flora and animals along the way.

During our visit to the Pantanal we stayed at Pousada Canto do Arancua, which we loved. Helpful staff, excellent food, cute large basic rooms, (no tv/phone) lovely pool with waterfall, nice grounds and a ranch with horses, cows, and chickens not to mention all the wild animals (Tapirs, monkeys, ocelot, agouti, capybara's coati's, birds, birds and more birds...all of which our guide could identify) which we saw while on the land/river at the property which is 5000 hectares. The canoe rides (no motors) were peaceful and allowed for the sighting of many animals. I'm not sure any of the lodge employees spoke English but our guide was always there to translate. " Kim

The Pantanal tour was equally memorable. I'm glad we took the extra day to see the Chapada dos Guimaraes National park and stay in Chapada. With the help of our guides, we were able to have a very intimate experience of the town, and even went with them to a local community/church party on Saturday night. - Stephen Layman
