5 or 4 Day Mountain Biking Trips

Mountains and Jungle

Here is a great mountain biking trip for those with some experience.It's rated moderately difficult and has some downhills and single track. Operates from May to October.

Day 1: CUSCO - LARES - Early in the morning leave Cusco and take a transfer for around 3 hours near to the mountain pass of Lares (13,986 fts) start the ride all down hill (single track optional) take lunch in the way , after the lunch We have around 2 hours more riding , We reach some relaxing hot springs where we will camp for the night. The natural thermal waters are a perfect end to the day. ( L, D)

Day 2: LARES - SANTIAGO - Today we have a dramatic 78 km ride (mostly downhill) to the town of Santiago where we'll camp for the night. We're now out of the Andes and in the upper Amazon Basin. (B, L,D)

Day 3: SANTIAGO -QUELLOUNO - Bus up hill , We will take a lunch on the way and arrive to Quellouno , where we take a rest and take a short bath in a river . ( B, L ,D)

Day 4: QUELLOUNO - QUILLABAMBA - We now have 98 km to the Jungle town of Quillabamba. If you leave right after breakfast and you are a strong rider, you can make it the whole way on this bumpy jungle track. Many people will prefer to bike ½ or most of it and take a van the rest of the way. We'll stay at the Hotel Quillabamba tonight and relax in front of the pool. (B ,L , D)

Day 5: QUILLABAMBA - OLLANTA - CUSCO - Today we'll drive 105 km to the top of a 15,000+ pass and ride 45 km down to Ollantaytambo in the Sacred Valley and back to Cusco. (B,L)

Best Dirt Roads of Cusco

Here is another great mountain biking trip for those with some experience.It's rated moderate to difficult and has some downhills and single track. Operates from April to November.

Day 1 CUSCO - TRES CRUCES - Leave Cusco early in the morning, start the ride in Qolqepata ( 2:30 h) . Arrive to Paucartambo and take lunch , rest and visit the town. After lunch we will take a transfer to Tres Cruces (Three Crosses) . (L,D).(Camp)

Day 2 TRES CRUCES - CLOUD FOREST - Nice view of the sun rising at Tres Cruces. Breakfast. Middle morning we will begin our trip into the Cloud Forest, all downhill and amazing landscape (4 hours). Lunch on way. Overnight in the Cloud Forest. (B;L;D).(Lodge)


Day 3 CLOUD FOREST - ATALAYA - Early morning short hike to see the “Gallito de las Rocas” (Cock of the Rocks) . Breakfast star downhill until Chontachaca town and here start flat area and take lunch in Pilcopata, rest and go to Atalaya . (B;L;D).(Over night Lodge).

Day 4: ATALAYA- PAUCARTAMBO- CUSCO
Breakfast, early in the morning and back to Cusco. Option to bike on the route , between Ajcanaco to Paucartambo. Down hill. After the lunch back to Cusco
