Serra da Capivara National Park

With around 97,933 hectares, the Serra da Capivara National Park has canyons that hide some 500 natural shelters and caves, which have an incredible collection of paintings and engravings made by the prehistoric men who inhabited the region some 50,000 years ago. UNESCO has declared the park part of the "Cultural Heritage of Humanity", due to the age of its archeological sites and the aesthetic quality of the rock art.

Day 1 Petrolina - São Raimundo Nonato, Piauí State
Reception at Petrolina and immediate ground transfer to São Raimundo Nonato town. At about 18:00, check in Hotel Serra da Capivara. Overnight. (D)

Day 2 São Raimundo Nonato - P. N. Da Serra Da Capivara
After breakfast visit the Serra da Capivara National Park - the Desfiladeiro da Capivara and the archeological sites. Return to the hotel. Overnight. (B, L, D)

Day 3 São Raimundo Nonato - P. N. Serra Da Capivara
Early breakfast. Trekking and visit Chapada's archeological sites and the paintings made by the prehistoric men . Return to the hotel and lunch.
After lunch visit the Baixão do Perna archeological sites. Stop at the Baixão das Andorinhas to watch the birds coming back to sleep into the canyon. Dinner. Overnight. (B,L,D)

Day 4 São Raimundo Nonato - P. N. Serra Da Capivara
Breakfast. Visit de Hombu Trail. Pic-nic during the trip. Return to the hotel. Overnight. (B,L,D)

Day 5 São Raimundo Nonato - P. N. Serra Da Capivara
After breakfast, visit the Pedra Furada region. Cross the canyons - Pedra Furada to the Mulheres and visit three archeological sites. Presentation with video about the Museum of American Man Foundation. Return to the hotel. Overnight. (B,L,D)

Day 6 São Raimundo Nonato - Petrolina
After breakfast check out. Transfer to Petrolina. (B)
