Southern Venezuela Tour-
From Amazon Basin to Table Mountains

This tour leads us to the most beautiful secrets of south Venezuela. Virgin rainforest, untouched Indian villages and the famous tepuis are only some of the highlights you will visit. You stay in typical and comfortable lodges from where you make walks and excursion by boat, visiting the beautiful surroundings of each lodge. First you go to Orinoquia Logde, about 20 minutes from Pto. Ayacucho, located on the Orinoco waterfront. From here you explore the majestic Orinoco river. You go on to Caura Lodge situated at the banks of Rio Caura. With an Indian motorized canoe you go upriver, visiting some Indian villages and walking up a huge rock from where you have a beautiful view over the untouched rainforest. Finally you reach Canaima, the flight over of the world highest waterfall, the Angel Fall, is one of the most impressive highlights.

It is designed in the typical native style. After lunch we take a boat trip downriver on the Orinoco. We explore little streams with abundant vegetation. With a little luck we might see fresh water dolphins and otters. There is time to swim and sunbathe on the beautiful beaches, which appear during dry season.

Day 2 Jungle walk and visit to "Tobogan de la Selva". Double room/bath. (B/L/D)
We visit an indian village, where we learn about indian agriculture and various local plants. We walk through the jungle where we can see the famous "24 hours ant". We show you how the indians make baskets, hammocks and traps. You also learn about medicine plants. In the afternoon we visit the "Tobogan de la Selva" a natural water slide with pools. In the evening we return to camp.

Day 3 Visit the indian market. Transfer to Caura Lodge. Double room/bath. (B/-/D)
After breakfast we drive to Pto. Ayacucho. We visit the indian market, where you can buy handicrafts. Then we go on to the Caura Lodge. The landscape looks like a hilly savanna, crossed by many small rivers with Moriche palmtrees ashore. Huge, black granite-rocks show up, extensions of the former Guyana-shield. The savanna offers an impressive panoramic view with its single growing palm trees loosing themselves in the overwhelming landscape of black rocks. After six hours we arrive at Maripa, where we take a small red dirt-road to the south, which leads us through jungle to Las Trincheras. In the camp our hostesses are alreday expecting us. In the evening a big "parrilla" (barbecue) is prepared on open fire.

Day 4 Boat trip Cerro Cancrejo. Double room/bath. (B/L/D)
After breakfast we start our trip with an indian canoe (curiara). We go upstream and reach untouched jungle and typical indian villages, where we learn about indian tradtions. Then we reach Cerro Cancrejo, a huge rock ashore the Caura. We hike up about two hours. Up there we have a fantastic view over the river-course and the deep green jungle. With some luck we might see parrots and tucans.

On our way to Ciudad Bolívar we stop at a friend's place, the "Jugo Caura" to enjoy his freshmade natural fruit-drinks. After about 4 hours we arrive in Ciudad Bolívar. In the afternoon time for shoping.
