Terra Luna Packages

South of Coihaique, Lake General Carrera is one of the most beautiful places of Chilean Patagonia. Nearby the lake lie two extraordinary sites: West is the famous “Campos de Hielos Norte,” the world’s closest icefield to the Equator, on which rises Mount San Valentin (4,058m), only a few kilometers from San Rafael Lagoon; and South are Baker River, a fishermen´s paradise, and Lake Cochrane where Mount San Lorenzo rises to 3706 m. You will discover a pioneer´s land, only recently opened to tourists thanks to several programs that allow you to enjoy an infinity of activities and appreciate the comfort , the familiar atmosphere and excellent gastronomy of Terra Luna lodge. Located in a 6ha private land with more than 400m of “beach”. The lodge, is open all year round and offers extraordinary view on the lake and the surrounding mountains . Its infrastructure, its panoramic jacuzzi, its leasure room totally equiped for conferences and private discotheque, make Terra Luna a unique place, much appreciated even in case of eventual bad weather. We offer several “all inclusive” conventional and soft adventure programs.

The lodge is a big wood georgian style building (300m2) with 4 triplex apartments (for maximum 5 adults or 4 adults and 2 children) a common terrace, a common “restaurant” and a common leasure room totally equiped for conferences, slide shows, and even “discothèque” (for special occasions). Each apartment has 2 double rooms, 1 single room (transformable to a double room for children), 1 toilet and 1 living room with direct access on the terrace. Each apartment can be used as a “hotel” room ( maximum 2 PAX/appart) for couples of persons that do not want to share facilities with others or as an “apart-hotel” if used by friends or family groups (maximum 6 people/apart). There is no kitchen in the apartments. Meals must be taken in the common “restaurant” area.

WONDERS OF LAKE GENERAL CARRERA

TUESDAY: (SANTIAGO) - COIHAIQUE - TERRA LUNA
Departure from Coihaique or reception at Balmaceda airport. We follow the Austral road to Puerto Guadal. On the way, we do a boat excursion (if possible) to the “Capilla de Marmol”, fantastic maze of caves drawed by the milenary waves of the lake. Arrival to Puerto Guadal. Welcome drinks and overnight in Terra Luna lodge on the shore of Lake General Carrera. (L,D)

WEDNESDAY: TERRA LUNA
Full day in the area of Puerto Guadal where you can enjoy several excursions (Baker river, lakes fossiles, glaciers, etc...) and activities like trekking, mountain biking, horse back riding, fishing, etc… . For those who want to live a unique experience, we highly recommend a flight over the Northern Icefields and Mount Saint Valentin (4057m) to San Rafael Lagoon (optional). This option is actually the cheapest to visit that National Park.Plane can pick you up close to Terra Luna. Back to the lodge. (CB,L,D)

SATURDAY: TERRA LUNA-TORTEL
We drive south along the Baker river and its amazing colour and discover beautiful lansdcapes. Arrival to Cochrane. We follow the last section of the Austral Road to Vagabundo area. The landscapes are absolutely wild and unexplored. Then we take a boat which navigates down the Baker River to reach the isolated village of Caleta Tortel. No words can describe this unique experience of discovering a villagehanging between the fjord and the hills. Overnight in a guesthouse. (CB,L,D)

TERRA LUNA MULTI-ACTIVITY

DAY 1: * (SANTIAGO) - BALMACEDA - TERRA LUNA
Reception at the airport of Balmaceda. Crossing the region with direction to Puerto Guadal, we visit thevillage Cerro Castillo, a fantastic valley surrounded by the mountain Cerro Castillo and by Puerto Tranquilo. Boat excursion (if possible) to the Capilla de Marmol, a splendid marble cave marked by the endless wavesof the lake. We arrive at Puerto Guadal and settle down in Terra Luna Lodge. (L,D)

DAY 2: TERRA LUNA - MARISCOS PETRIFICADOS - TERRA LUNA
In the morning transfer to the surroundings of Puerto Guadal, where we enjoy a day of horseback riding up to the “Veranada” where we can find thousands of fossiles. A breathtaking view over the landscape and the mountains San Valentin (4058m) and San Lorenzo (3706m) awaits us. Back to Terra Luna. (CB, L, D)

DAY 3: TERRA LUNA - PUERTO BERTRAND - TERRA LUNA
Another day full of activities! Leaving Terra Luna in the morning with our mountain bikes, we enjoy this spendid landscape of lakes, mountains, rivers, and glaciers. After about 30 kilometers we reach Puerto Bertrand, the spring of Rio Baker, where we will have lunch. In the afternoon river rafting in Rio Baker (grade 2). A car is waiting for us to take us back to Terra Luna. (CB, L, D)

DAY 4: TERRA LUNA - LAGO MELIQUINA - TERRA LUNA
Day of trekking to the lake Meliquina. Passing valleys and beautiful countrysides, we appreciate the glacier Meliquina and the mountain range of the Valle del Leon. We meet the car in the Valle del Leon which will take us back to Terra Luna. (CB,L,D)

DAY 5: TERRA LUNA
Free day in Terra Luna. Today we can just relax, go fishing, enjoy the jacuzzi or do one of the activities we dismissed before because of bad weather. We recommend to take a flight over the lake Leones and its wonderfull glaciers, the ice field and/ or the lagoon San Rafael Overnight in Terra Luna. (CB,L, D)

DAY 6: TERRA LUNA - CHILE CHICO - BALMACEDA - (SANTIAGO)
Transfer over the spectacular road along the shore of Lake General Carrera to Chile Chico. A plane takes us to either Coihaique or Balmaceda to catch the connection flight to Santiago. (CB, L)

ALL INCLUSIVE PROGRAMS VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
-All local flights Coihaique-Chile Chico & Chile Chico -Coihaique are included in these programs. These flights are normally operated from Teniente Vidal airport (Coihaique) and NOT Balmaceda. Nevertheless, Terra Luna Programs include the special stop-over in Balmaceda, but coordination of ALL PASSENGERS SCHEDULES and itinerary is very important to avoid further complications. Passengers' itinerary and national flight schedules must be CONFIRMED for each group in order to coordinate it with the local airline... Local flights maximum luggage weight is 15kg.

All local flights included in these programs are local airline regular flights. These flights are subject to changes,delays, cancellations etc... These modifications are done by the airline (for any reasons) and they are NOT a responsability of Terra Luna. Any additional cost due to these changes or the contractation of any charter flight has to be paid by passengers.

- For programs beginning on Tuesday (and ending on fridays or mondays):
-first day flight arrival (from Santiago) in Coihaique must be before 14h00.
-last day flight departure (to Santiago) on fridays must be after 15h00.
- For programs beginning on Fridays (and ending on mondays):
-first day flight arrival (from Santiago) in Coihaique must be before 11h00 in order to connect with the local flight to Chile Chico. Local plane will be specially asked to pick you up directly in Balmaceda (it is not its normal route). Please inform us about your national flights schedules.
-last day flight departure (to Santiago) on mondays must be after 15h00.

ALL INCLUSIVE programs include the free use of Terra Luna infrastructure and the described excursions with specialised guide, full board service, boats, horses, etc.... Lunch is generally a box lunch in case of full-day activity out of Terra Luna.

Not Included: drinks during restaurant meals, tips, charter flights, external excursions with *.

VERY IMPORTANT:
-ALL INCLUSIVE programs consider lodging in the LODGE with 2 PERSONS. If one person is alone, he (or she) will be lodged in the "Jacuzzi" or the "Cueva" bungalows:

Due to the conception of Terra Luna lodge, people from the same group (that know each other) can an have an apartment. For these kind of groups, the rooming list is done by the people (if asked at booking) or by Terra Luna (according to final bookings)

REMEMBER:
-In ANY CASE ... NO ROOM WILL RECEIVE MORE THAN 2 PERSONS !!
-Apartments are only shared between passengers from the same "group" (or program)

Have a bath and relax after a day of sport or in case of bad weather.

Terra Luna can loan you some fishing equipment (amateur) to try your chance on the shore of the lake.

Use our zodiac to navigate, the lake of your choice (General Carrera, Plomo, Bertrand, Leones, etc....)
" D/ MOUNTAIN BIKE:
Rent a bike and ride on the trails and tracks of Patagonia.
" E/ TREKKING:
If you like trekking, Terra Luna proposes an infinity of alternatives. We offer from a simple day trek to a several days real explorations to remote glacier valleys. (see excursions)
" F/ MOUNTAINEERING:
All the surrounding summits can be climbed with our specialized mountain guide. We offer climbs from day climbs (all public) to a 22 days expedition to mount San Valentin (4058m) (only experts) (see excursions)
" G/ RAFTING:
Raft the Baker river!!! A unique experience for the whole family. Very soft raft (grade 2) in a unique landscape. Rafting programs start from a 2h raft to a 6 days adventure raft to Caleta Tortel!!!(see excursions)
" H/ HORSEBACK RIDING:
For horsebackriding lovers, Terra Luna offers from simple half day rides to 5 days horseback excursions in the surrounding mountains and valleys (Soler valley, Leones valley, San Lorenzo mountain range, Jenimeni lake and La Leona valley, etc...)(see excursions)
" I/ KAYAKING:
Do some kayaking on the shores of the lake or get down one of the so many rivers. A different approach!
" J/ FLOATING-PLANE FLIGHTS AND WATER LANDINGS:*
Feel the maximum freedom!!! Use the hydroplane like a taxi that picks you up on your doorstep . Fly to the most beautiful places and land in the most remote lakes with incredible glaciers: Lago Leones, Lago Cochrane, Lago Brown, Laguna San Rafael, etc... A flight over the icefied, around San Valentin mount and to San Rafael lagoon.
In fact, you go wherever you want!!! And it's cheaper than the cruises!

EXCURSIONS AVAILABLE AT TERRA LUNA:

1- TREKKING TO RIO MAQUI WATERFALL:
a/ Trekking alone: 2-3 hours trekking. All public. Walk with local guide from Terra Luna to the numerous waterfalls of rio Maqui. Transfer back in vehicule. DURATION 3 hours.
b/ Trekking + boat excursion to Carabinero Island: Idem trekking alone + transfer back to Terra Luna visiting Carabinero island. Includes lunch on the island. DURATION 4 hours.

2- TREKKING TO FUENTES GLACIER :
FULL DAY excursion. Trekking with tour leader to glacier Fuentes. Transfer by car. Boat cross during 40mn (round trip), trekking (3h). Small level required.Picnic included. DURATION 5-6 hours.

3- HORSE RIDE / TREKKING TO MARISCOS "VERANADA":
a/ Horse ride: FULL DAY excursion to search for Veranada´s fossiles. Includes : transfer by car, horses, tourleader, picnic.Wonderful views. DURATION 6-7 hours. ONLY RIDERS WITH EXPERIENCE TOUGH RIDE
b/ Trekking:Trekking version available. Medium level recommended. DURATION 6 hours.

4- RAFTING ON BAKER RIVER :
HALF DAY rafting on the Baker river. Roundtrip transfer by car. 2h of rafting. All public. DURATION 4-5 h.

5- TRANSFER / WALK TO THE MINE:
Walk or transfer by car to the "hidden mine". Walk or mountain bikes ride (downhill ride in option). For rainy days. Bike rental not included. DURATION 1-2 hours.

6- HORSE RIDE / TREKKING TO LEONES LAKE:
a/ Horse ride: FULL DAY excursion to Leones lake and its impressive glaciers. Transfer by car, horse ride for 4 hours. Tour leader. Picnic included Beautiful scenery of lakes, mountains and glaciers. DURATION 10 hours. ONLY RIDERS WITH EXPERIENCE TOUGH RIDE
b/ Trekking: Trekking version available for fit persons. DURATION 10-12 hours.

7- TREKKING TO MELIQUINA LAKE:
FULL DAY trekking to Meliquina lake. Transfer by car to Punta Baja. Hard trekking. Back to Leones Valley . Tour leader and lunch included. Tour of lakes and glaciers. DURATION 10-12 hours.

8- EXCURSION TAMANGO RESERVE & BAKER RIVER :
FULL DAY excursion to Pto Bertrand, Baker river water fall, Cochrane and to Tamango reserve to see Wuemules. Transfer by boat, cross boat on Cochrane lake, tour leader, Nacional Park entrance, lunch, etc... All public. DURATION 8-10 h.

9- EXCURSION TO EXPLORADORES VALLEY AND TO THE MARBEL CHAPEL:
FULL DAY excursion to Pto Tranquilo, Exploradores Valley, Marble chapel etc... . Transfer by car, cross boat until the marble chapel (if posible), tour leader, lunch, etc... All public. DURATION 8-10 hours.

10- TREKKING TO LAKE BERTRAND :
Easy trekking to lake Bertrand. Duration (2 to 5 hours) varies according to selected starting point. Combinable with a mountain bike portion. All public. Good for rainy days.
