Tupana Lodge

The Amazon Tupana Lodge is a small jungle hotel with 12 rooms with a very charming atmosphere. The rustic architecture has been carefully planned to preserve nature and specially to adapt itself the environment, but still with the purpose to offer comfort during your stay in the Amazonian Rainforest. The lodge offers the following facilities: reception, restaurant service offering local as well as international dishes, bar service, electric energy is 110vots.

178 km south of Manaus in the middle of the biological reserve of the Tupana River an ecological Paradise, an area which is very rich in fauna and flora, where we can find a large variety in water birds, mammals, reptiles, and during specific times of the year also a excellent place for sport fishing. The trip to the hotel begins with an adventure passing by the meeting of the waters where Rio Negro and Solimões - the two major rivers of the Amazon meet to form the mighty Amazon River, followed by a travel on road for 178km on the BR 319 that connects to the famous Transamazônica (the first road that connected the state of Amazonas to the rest of the country, but unfortunately today is partly destroyed). During the trip to the Amazon Tupana Lodge you will be able to view a very rich scenery with large quantities of Vitoria Amazonia and birds.

The transportation is by vans and speed boats- all comfortable and with all security equipment and operates as follows:

PART 1: 07:00h Depart from your hotel in Manaus to the port of the Ceasa (20 min)
PART 2: Depart from the Port of Ceasa to the Vila do Careiro in speed boat passing by the meeting of the waters (20 min)
PART 3: Vila do Careiro to Rio Tupana. During this part we will have the opportunity to photograph Vitoria Amazonica (2:30h – highway BR319).
PART 4: Rio Tupana to the Amazon Tupana Lodge by our own boat. (20 min).

TUCANO 3 DAYS / 2 NIGHTS

1st Day – 07:00h – Pick up at your hotel in Manaus, transfer to the lodge. 11:30h arrival at the Amazon Tupana Lodge. Welcome drink and accommodation. Lunch. Depart in motorized canoes for a reconnaissance tour of the area. Return to the lodge. After dinner tour in motorized canoes to watch the night life and listen of the sounds of the forest, but still not forgetting the main attraction, the spotting of the caimans.

2nd Day – Breakfast. Depart for a jungle trek led by our specialized guide, where we can see the beauty and feel the energy of the Amazon rain forest. Return to the lodge. Lunch. Tour on motorized canoes on a fishing trip to learn about the large variety o four fish and specially the famous piranhas. Sailing back to the lodge you will watch one of the most spectacular sunsets. Dinner and overnight.

CIGANA 4 DAYS / 3 NIGHTS

3rd Day – Sunrise trip in small rowing canoes to observe the bird life and also the legendaries pink dolphins. Return to the lodge for breakfast. Depart in motorized canoe to visit a native family, where we will learn about their culture and their customs. Return to the lodge for lunch. Depart for an overnight in the jungle – during the trek to the campsite we will administrate instruction on jungle surviving (like: how to find water, food, first aid, etc.) Overnight will be in hammocks with mosquito nets.

4th Day – Trekking back to the lodge. Breakfast. Depart in rowing canoes, like the natives, to observe the nature between igapos (flooded forest) and igarapes (small creeks). Return to the lodge for lunch. At 1 PM check out/departure to Manaus with arrival around 5 PM.

PAPAGAIO 5 DAYS / 4 NIGHTS

1st day – 07:00h – Pick up at your hotel in Manaus, transfer to the lodge. 11:30h arrival at the Amazon Tupana Lodge. Welcome drink and accommodation. Lunch. Depart in motorized canoes for a reconnaissance tour of the area. Return to the lodge. After dinner tour in motorized canoes to watch the night life and listen of the sounds of the forest, but still not forgetting the main attraction, the spotting of the caimans.

3rd Day – Sunrise trip in small rowing canoes to observe the bird life and also the legendaries pink dolphins. Return to the lodge for breakfast. Depart in motorized canoe to visit a native family, where we will learn about their culture and their customs. Return to the lodge for lunch. Depart in rowing canoes, like the natives, to observe the nature between igapos (flooded forest) and igarapes (small creeks). Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight.

4th Day – This day promises to be the highlight in adventure. After breakfast begins a full day jungle trek, where our professional guide will explain the fauna and flora and also the techniques of jungle surviving. We will build a camp with material exclusively found in the area and the overnight will be in hammocks with mosquito nets.

5th Day – Return to the lodge. Breakfast. Lunch. 01:00PM check out/departure to Manaus with arrival around 5 PM.

JAPPIM 6 DAYS / 5 NIGHTS

1st Day – 07:00 AM departure from hotel in Manaus and transfers to the lodge. At 11:30h arrival at Amazon Tupana Lodge. Welcome drink and accommodation. Lunch. Tour in motorized canoe for surround area recognizance. After dinner, observation of nocturnal animals in motorized canoe with the highlight for alligator spotting.

2nd Day – Breakfast. Jungle trekking with naturalist guide to observe the beauty and fell the energy of Amazon Forest. Lunch at lodge. Afternoon tour in motorized canoe for regional fishing in special the famous piranhas. In the way back to the lodge, observation of the Amazon sunset. Dinner and overnight.

3rd Day – Sunrise tour in paddle canoe to bird and pink dolphin observation (with lucky). Breakfast in the lodge. Morning tour to visit the locals house to learn about their culture and behavior. Lunch. Paddling tour like the locals to observe the forest in Igapós area(flooded forest) and Igarapés (creeks). Dinner in the lodge and overnight.

4th Day – This promise to be the adventure day. After breakfast, leaving for a day trekking. The naturalist guide will explain about fauna and flora and survival techniques in jungle. The camp will be built with the natural resources of the forest and the overnight will be in hammocks with mosquitoes net. Lunch and dinner in the forest.

5th Day – Trekking to return to the lodge. Breakfast at the lodge and free time for leisure or going one of the excursions again. Dinner and overnight in the lodge.

6th Day – Breakfast. Lunch. At 1 PM check out/departure to Manaus with arrival around 5 PM.

RATES INCLUDE:

PAYMENT CONDITIONS FOR BOOKING: full payment 30 days before arrival. Can be by check, wire transfer or vredit card.

USEFUL INFORMATION:

¤ What to bring: Comfortable clothes, long pants, short pants, socks, tennis shoes or boots for rainforest trails, swimming suit, sun lotion, flash-light, binoculars, repellent, sun glasses, hat or cap and rain gear.
¤ The electricity is 110V supplied by diesel engine between the time 12:00h to 15:00h and 18:00h to 08:00h.
¤ Bathrooms are not equipped with hot water.
¤ Communication: Globalstar Satellite for emergency.
¤ Payment method at the Hotel for extras expenses: cash only (Reais, dollar or Euros).
¤ Average temperature, year around medium: 28°C
¤ Dry period on the Rio Tupana: June to January.
¤ High-water period on the Rio Tupana: February to June.
¤ Provisions: Most of the provisions comes from our own plantation or is obtained from the locals of the area.
¤ Limitation of baggage: 10kg per person. Preferable bags without hard shell (excess baggage can be deposited in our Manaus office without extra charge).
