I would guess that when most people are shopping for an Amazon cruise, they first think of Brazil or Peru. Sure, you can find a good cruise in either of those countries - especially in Peru, where you can find a lot to choose from. If you are only going to Brazil or only to Peru, then it makes sense to look for a cruise in that country.
In recent years, Jaguar tours in the Pantanal in Brazil have become more and more popular. Due to conservation efforts, the number of jaguar sightings in the Meeting of the Waters park area has increased and word has gotten out, so tourism has also grown.
Many people want to do an Amazon cruise in Brazil. What are the choices and how do they differ?
One consideration is the frequency of operation
When is the best time to visit the Amazon? That is a question that gets asked a lot.
One thing you have to consider is which part of the Amazon. Conditions in Peru at a particular time might be different than conditions in Brazil at the same time because the areas can be far apart. Since the area is so close to the equator, the temperature does not very much thoughout the year. The rainy season in the Peruvian Andes starts in about December and is heaviest in the Iquitos area in April. In the Manaus area, the rainy season is roughly mid-December till mid-May. In Ecuador, April to August is the rainy season (able to see more monkeys and birds), while August – March is the dry season (more mammals than birds). In the old days, when there were not many people living on the Galapagos Islands, doing a cruise was the only way to see them, so there were not a lot of choices. Now there are 4 inhabited islands with accommodations on them, so there are more Galapagos tour options available.
