Day 1: Arrival in Bogotá
On this first day, a person from our team will be waiting for you at your arrival time at El Dorado Airport in Bogotá and will take you to the hotel. Afterwards, you will have the rest of the day free, having time to recover from the flight, enjoy the hotel facilities or explore the city on your own. After breakfast, you will have a customizable full-day city tour, starting at 9:00 AM in the hotel lobby (the schedule may change if you need more recovery time from the international flight), where you can visit the most emblematic places of the capital of Colombia, such as the La Candelaria neighborhood, the Gold Museum, the Monserrate church, the entertainment or gastronomy areas, among other options that this big city has to offer. Today, you will have a transfer to be at theBogota airport 2 hours before your flight to Pereira. Once there, you will have a transfer to your hotel in the town of Salento. You will have the afternoon free to walk around the town, where you can see its colorful houses and colonial heritage, visit the town's viewpoint where you can enjoy an excellent cup of local coffee and have a great dinner in the evening at one of the Salento's restaurants. MEALS: (B/-/-) HOTEL: SALENTO PLAZA / SALENTO REAL / TERASU / MIRADOR DEL COCORA / SAZAGUA VALLE DEL COCORA / BIOHABITAT Day 4: Visit wax palm forest Valle del Cocora & colonial town Salento Today you will go on another tour visiting the colonial town of Salento and Valle del Cocora. The area of Salento will impress you with great scenery - led by the stunning nature of Valle de Cocora. Wax palms, which are among the highest in the world and can reach a height of up to 70 meters, will catch your attention. Enjoy a walk in this beautiful environment of Colombian´s national tree. On this day, we will pick you up at 9:00 AM for a coffee tour, where you will learn about the origin this fruit, walking through a plantation to learn more about cultivation, harvesting, roasting, preparation and will end with a tasting of a great cup of coffee. In the afternoon you will visit the town of Filandia, walking by the main streets of the town and will have a local handcraft workshop making a basket from natural fibers before being taken to your hotel. MEALS: (B/L/-) HOTEL: SALENTO REAL / TERASU / MIRADOR DEL COCORA / SAZAGUA VALLE DEL COCORA / BIOHABITA Day 6: FLIGHT TO SANTA MARTA Today, you will have the morning free to enjoy the last moments in the coffee region and then you will have a transfer to the airport of Pereira to be 2 hours before your flight to Santa Marta. Once there, you will have a 1-hr transfer to your hotel located next to Tayrona National Park. The hotel has a swimming pool and it is next to a pristine beach that you can enjoy in the afternoon depending on the tide that day. MEALS: (B/-/-) HOTEL: SENDA KOGUIWA / SENDA WATAPUY / CASA BARLOVENTO / TEQUENDAMA ECOHABS / VILLA PLAYA / CASA TAYRONA LOS NARANJOS Day 7: TAYRONA NATIONAL PARK You will have a full day tour to the Tayrona National Park, where you will begin a guided hike along its trails, being able to appreciate its rocky landscapes and enjoy its beaches. With a little luck you will be able to see some fauna along the way and contemplate the unique landscapes of this place, before reaching the famous San Juan del Guia cape. In the afternoon you will return by walk and then by vehicle to the hotel. In the afternoon you will have 3-hours city tour, taking a guided walk through the most famous places in the historic center of Cartagena, its squares and its most iconic colonial buildings, delving into the history of the place. In the evening you can enjoy one of the great restaurants of the city. There, accompanied by a local guide, you will learn about the island's history and customs on a journey from north to south. Once in the village, you will visit local artisans and explore the place. Then, you will take a boat tour through the mangroves and will do snorkeling in the crystal-clear waters of the Rosario Islands, having a traditional lunch before being heading back to your hotel. In the afternoon, you will have a 3-hrs transfer to the town of Villa de Leyva, passing through towns like the picturesque town of Raquira, lakes and green Andean mountains. MEALS: (B/L/-) HOTEL: CASA CANTABRIA / TERRA VILLA DE LEYVA / PLAZUELA DE SAN AGUSTÍN DAY 4 - VILLA DE LEYVA After breakfast, you will have a full day tour to enjoy the colonial town of Villa de Leyva, which is very walkable and you can easily visit its most famous places and museums in its urban area. You will also visit several places on the outskirts of the town such as the convent of Santo Ecce-Homo, the Paleontological Center, Casa Terracotta, having also the option to visit La Candelaria desert, rent quads, go horseback riding among other places. MEALS: (B/L/-) HOTEL: CASA CANTABRIA / TERRA VILLA DE LEYVA / PLAZUELA DE SAN AGUSTÍN DAY 5 - BARICHARA After breakfast you will have a 4-hrs transfer to Barichara, with a stop in the town of El Socorro. Both have the status of heritage towns of Colombia. In the afternoon, you will have a walking tour through the cobblestone streets and museums and discover the colonial architecture of Barichara, its orange houses, visiting different secrets of this place that offers a great warm climate, bordering the Chicamocha canyon. MEALS: (B/-/-) HOTEL: AURA BARICHARA / CASA BARICHARA / CASA ONIRI / ALTO DEL VIENTO DAY 6 - HIKE TO GUANE Today, you will have an early morning (or a late afternoon) walk of 3.5 hours approx. to the village of Guane, avoiding the midday heat of the dry ecosystem of the Chicamocha Canyon. You will walk down on a moderate level hike, having great views of the place, before having a tour in the tiny town of Guane. You will have a typical lunch and then will be taken back to Barichara by car, having the rest of the day free. MEALS: (B/L/-) HOTEL: AURA BARICHARA / CASA BARICHARA / CASA ONIRI / ALTO DEL VIENTO DAY 7 - CHICAMOCHA CANYON On this day, you will have a guided tour to Chicamocha National Park, where you will also cross the entire canyon by a cable car until you reach the western side of it, having lunch there. In the afternoon you will have a coffee tour in a traditional hacienda of the region. Later you will have a 1.5-hrs transfer to the airport of Bucaramanga, where you will take your flight to Cartagena (19:25 20:40), where you will be dropped at your hotel.
