Arrive at Jose Marti International Airport in Havana. You will be met by Armando and Loraine, your Cuban guide for the week. You will be transported by coach to your B & B. After arriving and settling in, you will have an opportunity to go for a short walking tour of the Vedado section of Havana where you will be staying, followed by dinner. Possible shows this first night.(D) Day 2: We will have breakfast every morning at the house. After breakfast, we will take antique American cars for an hour-long tour of Havana to get a feel for the city and being dropped off in Old Havana in front of the Museum of the Revolution. We will then take a private tour at the Museo de Bellas Artes which focuses on Cuban art. We will have lunch in old Havana at a wonderful little Cuban restaurant upstairs overlooking the bustling street below. After lunch we will take a walking tour of Old Havana visiting galleries and plazas along with soaking up the rich heritage and beautiful architecture of the old city. Plaza de la Catedral, Calle Obispo, Plaza Vieja, El Paseo del Prado and artists’ studios are a few of the stops on our tour. We will finish out our day at the Almacenes de San Jose which is Havana's largest open-air handicraft market that sits under the cover of an old shipping warehouse in Havana harbor. A great place to buy everything from expensive art to knickknacks. We then head back to our house to rest a bit before dinner. We will then be transported to a local “paladar” (privately owned restaurants) then head back home to get ready to catch a show. This itinerary could be altered depending on show times. (B,L,D) Day 3: We'll begin our day by walking to the Centro de Investigaciones Psicológicas y Sociológicas (CIPS), a beautiful colonial mansion in the Vedado section of Havana. The center will be our host as we learn about Cuba. We will have a presentation by a University of Havana professor on life in Cuba today and the impacts that the US embargo has on lives of the Cubans population. We will then depart for the Plaza de La Revolución, a major attraction in Havana and one of the largest plazas in the world. Here Fidel often had hours long speeches to throngs of hundreds of thousands of people. While there we will visit the Jose Marti Memorial, one of the best known monuments in the city. After our visit to the memorial, we will have lunch then off to visit an elementary school for a glimpse at the Cuban educational system and enjoy a performance by the kids. We will then go back to the house for some free/rest time before you head out to dinner and a show. (B,L) Day 4: After breakfast we will take a short walk to visit the Museo de Artes Decorativos a mansion turned into a small museum showing the splendor of wealthy Cuban life early in the 20th century. From there we will take a short walk to one of the better fruit/vegetable markets in the city to get a taste of a Cuban veg/fruit market. After lunch we will visit the Cementerio de Cristóbal Colón a Havana landmark, one of the largest cemeteries in the world which was founded in 1876 in the Vedado neighborhood. Named for Christopher Columbus, the cemetery is noted for its many elaborately sculpted memorials. It is estimated the cemetery has more than 500 important mausoleums.(B,L) Day 5: Visit to the Hemingway House and museum which has been preserved and restored by the Hemingway estate and the Cuban government. Hemingway lived there from 1939 - 1960. The house is just as Hemingway left it with books and newspapers scattered about. Even though we are not allowed inside, the windows and doors are left open to view the interior. Additionally, there are garden paths on the property to get a complete view of the property. We will then head out to lunch at a restaurant in Hemingway’s favorite fishing town called Cojimar. After lunch we will return home to get ready for music later in the day. (B,L) Day 6: After breakfast we head to Fusterlandia and extensive public-art installations by local artist José Fuster, with colorful, whimsical mosaics, in the style of the famous Spanish artist Gaudi. The centerpiece of Fusterlandia is Fuster's own home, Casa de Fuster. Here, we will explore various rooms and rooftops, each adorned with intricate mosaics. Notable features include a giant chessboard, a mermaid fountain, and a series of murals depicting Cuban history and folklore. As we wander the streets of Jaimanitas, you'll find that Fuster's influence extends beyond his property. Many neighbors have embraced his artistic vision, allowing their homes and businesses to become part of the mosaic tapestry. This communal aspect of Fusterlandia makes it a unique testament to the power of art in bringing people together. We will have lunch on the Fuster property. After lunch we will head off to a dance performance to be entertained by a group called Habana Compass Dance in an old warehouse studio that will provide an exciting diverse performance with traces of Spanish flamenco and Afro-Cuban and modern dance. After the dance performance we will head back home to rest up before you head out for dinner & a show. B,L) Day 7: After breakfast we will take a bus to visit a local community health center for a quick glimpse of the Cuban medical system. We will then head over to Agroponico Alamar an organic urban farm that serves the local community with fresh vegetables and provides opportunities for locals to have a hand in growing their food. We will get a tour of the farm by a local guide then head to lunch at a very traditional open air restaurant for a typical Cuban lunch. We then head back home for some free time before you go out to dinner/show. Possible group visit to Fabrica de Arte, a creative arts hub with contemporary art installations, live music and dance performances, and DJ music. The venue also includes bars and food options. Day 8: We will finish off our week with another visit to old Havana and get our last taste of this wonderful city. We will have lunch at a local restaurant then head over for a quick tour of the Hotel National, a Cuban landmark hotel. The Hotel Nacional de Cuba (National Hotel of Cuba), built in 1930 in an eclectic Art Decó, Neoclassical style has been declared a National Monument due to its artistic and historic value. Nowadays, it is one of the most popular postcard pictures from Havana. After our visit we will return to the house to enjoy a bit of rest and resting for your last night in Havana and the closing of the fest. Day 9:- (Feb. 2, 2026) An early breakfast and say goodbye to Havana and be transported over to the airport for your flight back to the US. ** Sometimes and days of events may change as travel in Cuba can often be fluid. |
