DAY 01: MANAGUA - LEON
Airport greeting and private transfer to León, for lodging at the historic Hotel El Convento.
DAY 02: LEON - JUAN VENADO WILDLIFE REFUGE - LEON
Breakfast and private transfer with local guide to the coastal estuary wildlife refuge of Juan Venado, navigating the mangrove forest of the reserve either in kayak or private motorboat to observe numerous wading birds like the Roseate Spoonbill, iguanas, crocodiles and other wildlife that habitats this barrier island. But it's the sea turtles that have made Juan Venado Island the top tourist attraction in the area. Visit to the ocean side of the island. Return to León for lodging at Hotel El Convento.
DAY 03: LEON - MONTIBELLI PRIVATE NATURE RESERVE - GRANADA
Greeting at hotel by English speaking guide and transfer to the Sierra Managua mountain range and the old coffee hacienda and private nature reserve of Montibelli. Lunch and an afternoon hike at this family owned paradise for birds like the Long-Tailed Manakin and the Turquoise-Browed Mot Mot and virtual rainbow of butterflies. Transfer to Granada for lodging at Hotel Colonial.
DAY 04: GRANADA – LAKE NICARAGUA - MASAYA VOLCANO NATIONAL PARK - GRANADA
Breakfast and morning visit to Lake Nicaragua for a tour in electric boat to observe the rich bird life of the Las Isletas islands. Return to Granada and after visit to the 7 cone volcanic complex at the Masaya Volcano National Park. Hiking in the park including a visit to the active cone of Santiago. Transfer to colonial Granada for lodging at Hotel Colonial.
DAY 05: GRANADA - MOMBACHO CLOUD FOREST RESERVE - GRANADA
Breakfast and transfer with local guide to the cloud forest at the summit of Mombacho Volcano for a hike around the forest filled craters of the monolith on the Puma Trail. Mombacho is home to one of Nicaragua's strongest howler monkey populations and several endemic species of flora and fauna. In the whole of Latin America, the Mombacho Cloud Forest Reserve contains one of the best cloud forests and the flora and fauna that can be found here is numerous. They are filled with amazing colored orchids and bromeliads and more than 800 species of plants and hundreds of wildlife species. One of the most beautiful birds that you can find is the crimson-breasted, emerald-plumed quetzal - a dazzling bird! Return to Granada for the afternoon to enjoy this timeless colonial city. Lodging at Hotel Colonial.
DAY 06: GRANADA - MANAGUA
Breakfast at hotel and private transfer to airport for flight home.
