1st Day: Salvador/Lençois
At 07am: pick up hotel/airport by an English driver guide and transfer to Salvador Bus station. Departure in a regular Bus to Lençois (7hs trip approx). Arrival at 3:00pm. Welcome by local staff and transfer to your pousada. At 6pm, the city comes alive, and we will walk around to see the architecture of its constructions from the end of the XIX century. In the area of heritage protection, there are 570 buildings; The Church of Our Lady of the Rosary, the City hall – reveal part of the richness of traditional families. At the time of considerable opulence, the aristocracy used to negotiate the diamonds directly with Europe. Return to hotel. Overnight. Physical effort: 2km walk; tour goes from 6pm to 7 pm; 2nd Day: Fumaça waterfall 08:00h Departure from Lençois to Capao Valley, 1h car ride. We start our trekking going up for about 1h, then, trekking goes on a flat terrain until reach the summit of the Fumaça waterfall with its 385m of free fall (the second highest waterfall in Brazil). During the trekking, a great view of the Capao Valley and Morrao; Lunch box on site; Time to enjoy the view, then, return by the same trail to the car, and on a 5min ride to the Riachinho Fall for relaxing time. Return to Lencois. Night at leisure on your own. OV/B/L Physical effort: 12km walk; tour goes from 8:30am to 6:30 pm; 80 km car ride; /1 stop for river bathing; moderate-Advanced level. 3rd Day: Full day Blue and Enchanted Wells. 8:00am we leave from towards the south of the Park. Start our visit to the Enchanted well, a cave with little walk and easy access, the Enchanted well is the only attraction of the Park that does not allow children under 12y.o. Getting to know where is the limit between the water and the rock can be a creative challenge for visitors. With its 61m depth, we can see the trunks in the bottom, the proof of the water transparency! Back in the car, we follow the road towards the Paraguaçu River, one of the largest rivers in Bahia. Continue on foot for 5min until reaching the Blue Well, a flooded cave, where at certain times of the year, the sun rays reach the cave and transform it in a true spectacle of nature, with various shadows of blue color. Floatation time (this activity cannot be reserved. It’s important to consider that we might have to wait in line, depending on the time of the year). Then, we will be served lunch by ‘Dona Alice’. Continue to town of Mucugê. Overnight. Physical effort: 2km walk; tour goes from 8:00am to 6:00 pm; 286 km car ride; /1 stop for river bathing; Easy level 4th Day: Full day Buracão waterfall. We departure from Mucuge at 8:00AM to Ibicoara (1h drive). This is one of the Chapada Diamantina’s biggest and most beautiful attractions; It has 98 meters high and a scenic trail through the canyon; Walk on the 3km trail until the Buracão waterfall. Amazing view either from the top or the bottom!; Time to enjoy the different colors of the canyon walls; Lunch break at Orquídeas waterfall. Return to Lencois at the end of the day. (3h car ride). Physical effort: 6km walking / 260km car ride back to Lencois / moderate level 5th Day: Full day crossing Aguas Claras to Morrao Hill. A beautiful crossing that goes from the foot of the hill of Pai Inacio Hill to the Capão or vice-versa. We pass through a well with a small waterfall of crystalline waters that lies at the foot of Morrão hill, another of the greatest attractions of Chapada Diamantina. The hike is on flat ground most of the time. We will stop and swim in the clear waters of Aguas Claras well; Time for our having lunch box. Then, we head towards the village of Capao for another two hours, where we get our transport back to Lençois. Physical effort: 18km walk; tour goes from 8:30am to 5:00 pm; 100 km car ride; /1 stop for river bathing; moderate level 6th Full day tour: Mosquito waterfall and Mucugezinho River with Devil’s Pool We leave the hotel at 08:30 towards the Mosquito waterfall, whose name refers to the small diamonds ever found in the region, is great for bath. We get there after a short walk. After taking a refreshing bath in the waterfall, a regional lunch will be served on the farm. From there, we continue to Mucugezinho River, to learn about its dark color, and then, we follow a light trekking to Devil’s pool. Option activities such as zip line, rappel, waterfall. Then, we return on the trail. And back to Lençois. Physical effort: 4 km walk; ; tour goes from 8:00am to 5:30pm; 85 km car ride; /2 stops river swimming; moderate level 7th Day: Full day tour: Caves of Lapa Doce, Pratina and Blue cave, Pai Inacio Hill 8:00am: Leave towards Lapa Doce cave (850m trekking inside the cave, enjoying the amazing rock formations, stalactites, stalagmites, columns from millions of years of formation process); Then, go to Blue and Pratinha Caves with its natural clear pool (optional snorkeling, floatation, zipline). Stop for lunch on the farm. To finish the day, back in the car for a short ride, we go to a 20min trekking up the Pai Inacio Hill (500mts). Great view of the tablelands with a 360º view from the area. Emblematic sunset in Chapada Diamantina! Night at leisure, on your own. Crossing the Pati Valley is considered as one of the most beautiful treks in Brazil. For those who are in a good shape and enjoy a good walk, this trek will give you more meaning for life. The experiences during these days are unique and certainly won't come out of memory. The beauty of the landscapes; the simplicity of life of the residents of the Pati Valley makes us reflect on the meaning of life. The trekking in the Valley is characterized by hiking in extensive flat areas, but with a few moments of steep climbs and descents and passes through riverbeds. It is located between the municipalities of Andaraí and Mucugê. Tough level on the majority of the days.
1st Day: Salvador-Lencois 7am Driver guide transfer hotel/bus station Salvador. Regular bus Ssa/Len. Arrival by 3 pm. Meet local assistance and transfer to your pousada. Have the explanations about the itinerary for the next days. Free time. accommodation and breakfast. 2nd Day: Pati Valley: Gerais do Vieira / Gerais do Rio Preto and Igrejinha (20km walking) We leave the pousada at 8am for a 20km trekking. We go on a car ride to the beginning of the trail. We start from the Bomba climb on the Gerais do Vieira trail, and stop at a belvedere for some lunch box. Then, continue to Preto River trail, arriving at the igrejinha (little church) and the native house of the local Joao, where we stay for the night. OV/B/L/D Physical effort: 12km walk; tour goes from 8am to 5:00 pm; 75 km car ride; /1 stop for river swimming; / tough level 3rd Day: Pati Valey: Funis Waterfall / Castelo Hill We leave the breakfast in the morning, and leave at 8am going on the trail of the Funis River, passing by several waterfalls until get on the Funil Waterfall. After bathing and having lunch box, follow the trail towards the Castelo hill and a cave on the top of one of the highest hills in the park. (this second trail will happen according to the energy of the group). At the end of the day, we arrive at the Dona Leia house, another local that will accommodate us. Overnight. OV/B/L/D Physical effort: 15km walk; tour goes from 8am to 5pm; /1 stop for river swimming; / tough level 4th Day: Pati Valey: Cachoeirao Waterfall (14km trekking) After breakfast, we leave Dona Leia’s house in the morning, towards our day trekking to the high view of the Cachoeirao waterfall, 300m with several falls. (Most of the trail is on flat terrain) Stop for snacks and swimming. We go back to local home, dinner, and overnight. OV/B/L/D Physical effort: 16km walk; tour goes from 8am to 5:00 pm; /1 stop for river swimming; / tough level 5th Day: Pati Valey: Landscapes (14km trekking) Beautiful walk in the Pati Valley. After breakfast at local home, we leave at 8am to contemplate various landscapes during the day, we go to another House of local people, where we will approach the end of our expedition. Overnight and dinner in native house. OV/B/L/D Physical effort: 10km walk; tour goes from 8am to 5:00 pm; /1 stop for river swimming; moderate level 6th Day: Pati Valley to Andaraí After breakfast in native house, we leave at 6am, and will be heading to the city of Andaraí, traditional exit of the Pati, which was the place where the coffee produced in the Pati Valley used to be commercialized by locals to other cities. We do the famous climb of the Empire Hill, reaching the top. From there, we will have a fantastic view and begin to say goodbye to this paradise called Pati Valley. Lunch box. Then, we descend towards the town of Andaraí, make a pit stop at the ice cream store Apollo, to experience a delicious ice cream; Then, we will embark on a car and return to the city of Lençóis. Arrival in Lencois by middle afternoon. OV/B/L Physical effort: 20km walk; tour goes from 6am to 3:00 pm; /105km car ride / tough level 7th Day: Lencois-Salvador At 9:30am transfer to Bus station and regular bus ticket to Salvador. Bus departs at 9:45am, arrival in Salvador by 6:00pm (delays should be expected). Upon arrival, driver will be waiting on the bus station to take you either to local pousada or airport.
