This tour is designed for people with an interest in nature, culture and human interactions, having a mix of some of the most iconic Colombian destinations with hidden gems in the south of the country. You will discover the authentic Colombian culture, while witnessing why Colombia is famous for its biodiversity, beaches, national parks, architecture, colonial towns, archeology and vibrant cities.
DAY 1 - WELCOMING IN BOGOTÁ
We will pick up the group at the El Dorado Airport and take them to the chosen hotel. Our bilingual guide will be waiting at the exit of the airport with a banner with the name of the passengers. At night the group will have time for dinner and rest. MEALS: (-/-/-) HOTEL: HOTEL DE LA OPERA OR SIMILAR DAY 2 - EXPLORING BOGOTÁ Today, you will have a full day city tour, where you will visit the most iconic spots of the capital of Colombia, such as the La Candelaria neighborhood, Monserrate church and the gold museum of Bogota. MEALS: (B/L/-) HOTEL: HOTEL DE LA OPERA OR SIMILAR DAY 3 - GUATAVITA + ZIPAQUIRÁ Today we will start our full day private tour early in the morning in order to visit the 2 most iconic attractions of the surrounding area of Bogota - Guatavita lagoon and the Zipaquirá Salt cathedral. Both destinations hold important secrets of the history of the region. MEALS: (B/L/-) HOTEL: HOTEL DE LA OPERA OR SIMILAR The San Agustín Archaeological Park is considered to be the birthplace of one of the oldest cultures in Latin America. This region was home to a civilization that dates to XXXIII BC., leaving a legacy of a UNESCO site of the largest group of religious monuments and megalithic sculptures in South America (more than 300 pre-Hispanic monolithic statues), created from volcanic rock that weight up to 5 tons, reach up to 7 meters high and were used in funerary rituals. DAY 4 - SAN AGUSTIN ARCHEOLOGICAL PARK
you will fly directly from Bogota to Pitalito airport (11:02- 12:23) and from there you will have a 30 minutes transfer to San Agustin, where you will check-in at the chosen hotel. In the afternoon you will witness the enigmatic statues of the archeological park with our bilingual guide. MEALS: (B/L/-) HOTEL: AKAWANKA LODGE OR SIMILAR DAY 5 - TOURISTIC RING OF SAN AGUSTIN Today you will visit by car the main attractions of the surrounding area of San Agustin, which are the Bordones waterfall, the Magdalena strait, the Obando museum, the statues of Isnos and alto de los ídolos. Here you will have a mix of local history learning and great natural landscapes. MEALS: (B/L/-) HOTEL: AKAWANKA LODGE OR SIMILAR DAY 6 - PURUTAL & LA PELOTA STATUES Today, you will visit some of the most beautiful statues of the whole region, located at the La Pelota and Purutal sites. These statues still keep the original colors that the sculptors used more than 2,000 years ago. In the afternoon you will be taken on a 4 hour transfer to the city of Popayán, passing by astonishing landscapes of the Colombian Andes. MEALS: (B/L/-) HOTEL: MONASTERIO HOTEL OR SIMILAR DAY 7 - POPAYAN, THE WHITE CITY On this day, you will have a full day tour visiting in the morning the beautiful historical center of Popayán, which is called the white city as its buildings preserve this color of the colonial times. In the afternoon you will visit Hacienda Calibio, in which you can learn about the local history from the perspective of the colonists. Popayan has also been declared more recently by UNESCO as a city of important gastronomy due to the significant regional traditions of cooking. Today, you will visit Silvia, which is a town north of Popayán, famous for its indigenous population of the Misak community and its authentic market that is very active on Tuesdays. In the afternoon you will be taken in a 3 hours ride by car to the city of Cali. MEALS: (B/L/-) HOTEL: HOTEL BOUTIQUE SAN ANTONIO OR SIMILAR DAY 9 - CALI, THE CITY OF SALSA AND MUSIC Today, you will explore Cali, which is the third largest city of Colombia and the world's capital of Salsa music. During the morning you will have a guided city tour and in the afternoon you can explore the city at your own. You can optionally hire an activity at night in order to attend one of the several highly recommended live Salsa dance shows. MEALS: (B/-/-) HOTEL: SAN ANTONIO BOUTIQUE OR SIMILAR DAY 10 - COFFEE REGION This morning you will have a 4 hour ground transfer to Salento, which is the most visited colonial town in the coffee region. This town is very walkable and easy to get by, so you will have a free afternoon to discover its colorful and charming houses or you can optionally hire a guided tour with us. MEALS: (B/-/-) HOTEL: HOTEL SALENTO REAL OR SIMILAR Day 11 Valle del Cocora & Colonial Town of Salento On this day you will visit one of the most famous landscapes of Colombia: the Cocora valley, which has the tallest palms of the world and the national tree, the wax palm. In the Afternoon you will have a tour to a traditional coffee farm, where you will learn about this important Colombian product. Later on, you will be taken back to the hotel. MEALS: (B/L/-) HOTEL: HOTEL SALENTO REAL OR SIMILAR DAY 12 - SANTA ROSA HOTSPRINGS Today, we will take you to the hot springs complex of Santa Rosa de Cabal, where you can have a relaxing day at its beautiful and warm clear waters surrounded by astonishing nature (on busy weekends we will offer the San Vicente hot springs complex). DAY 13 - MEDELLÍN
Today you will fly from Armenia airport to Medellín, then you will be taken to your hotel located in the Poblado neighborhood, a great area of this city. In the afternoon you will have a half-day walking tour by some of the most iconic spots of the downtown of the city. MEALS: (B/-/-) HOTEL: HOTEL DIEZ OR SIMILAR DAY 14 - COMUNA 13 AND PUEBLITO PAISA Comuna 13 is currently the most famous tour in Medellín, as you can see the transformation and evolution from a violence past to a modern city. You can visit different local shops, viewpoints, the electric escalators and a lot of colors of its graffiti art. In the afternoon you will visit Pueblito Paisa, which is represents a typical main plaza of town of the region. MEALS: (B/-/-) HOTEL: HOTEL DIEZ OR SIMILAR Day 15: Guatapé & Piedra del Peñol The Peñol Boulder is one of the most spectacular destinations in the surrounding area of Medellín. The 200-meter-high monolith can be climbed through a staircase of 740 steps. Enjoy breath-taking views over the stunning surroundings full of green mountains and blue lakes. The village of Guatapé is famous for its church and its beautiful, colourful paintings that decorate the houses of the village. On this day trip we will take you on a scenic drive through the Eastern Highlands of Antioquia. You can climb the Peñol Boulder, enjoy a delicious typical Colombian lunch on the waterfront of the Guatapé reservoir, explore the lake on a boat ride and take time to stroll and relax. MEALS: (B/L/-) HOTEL: HOTEL DIEZ OR SIMILAR DAY 16 - SANTA MARTA, THE OLDEST CITY OF SOUTH AMERICA
Today you will fly to Santa Marta, where you will have free time to enjoy this city, which is the oldest of South America. It has great warm Caribbean weather, some interesting spots, museums and a very walkable downtown full of energy and local music or you can hire a city tour with us. MEALS: (B/L/-) HOTEL: CASA DE LEDA HOTEL OR SIMILAR DAY 17 - TAYRONA NATIONAL PARK FULL DAY Today we will take you in a guided tour visiting the main spots of Tayrona National park, which is probably the most famous national park nationwide. Here you will have a hike through well preserved ecosystems till you arrive to the rocky beaches of this place and late in the afternoon will get back to Santa Marta. MEALS: (B/L/-) HOTEL: CASA DE LEDA HOTEL OR SIMILAR DAY 18: CARTAGENA Today, you will have a 4.5 hour private ground transfer to Cartagena. Once in that city you will have a free afternoon and night, in order to enjoy the city by yourself, which is really pretty and walkable, or you can hire a guided walking tour with us in order to discover this charming city. MEALS: (B/-/-) HOTEL: ERMITA HOTEL OR SIMILAR DAY 19 - SAN FELIPE CASTLE, THE WALLED CITY AND MAIN SPOTS OF CARTAGENA Today, you will have a city tour around the main spots of Cartagena, which has a strong heritage of Spanish architecture mixed with the colors and vibes of the Caribbean . You will have a free afternoon and night in order to enjoy the city by yourself with several optional tours to hire with us in this city. MEALS: (B/-/-) HOTEL: ERMITA HOTEL OR SIMILAR DAY 20 - ROSARIO ISLANDS You will take a shared boat at 8:30 AM, heading to a private beach of one of the Rosario Islands. You can enjoy its crystal-clear waters and will have time for lunch. You can also use the available kayaks, snorkels and paddle boards or hire motor activities there, before taking the shared boat back to Cartagena..
