A group trek with local guide and all meals included

The Lost City is a sacred temple built by ancestors of the indigenous communities that still live in the area. This is one of the most important archaeological sites of Colombia, being about 600 years older than Machu Picchu, but it was only re-discovered in the mid 1970's and scientists are still uncovering new parts of it. This is a land of spiritual enchantment where tourism has allowed to help the local communities to protect and preserve this hidden gem in peace and harmony, generating also opportunities and income for the indigenous and rural communities there. This is an experience designed for adven - ture-minded people with good physical condition. The trek can be done in 4-, 5, or 6 days at any time of the year, except when the local indigenous authorities close the trail for spiritual purposes. On the way to the Lost City you will enjoy beautiful ecosystems, pristine rivers and great nature while immersing in the indigenous culture.
Day 1 - On the first day we will be picking you up at your hotel at around 8am, then we’ll go for an adventurous 2 and a half hour drive by 4x4 to the small countryside town of Mamey. After having lunch, we’ll set off for a hike taking about 3 hours to reach our first sleeping area. All together, you will climb up 520 meters during the hike. There will be some stops to have a snack and a short break. When you have arrived at your first camp you have a candlelight dinner.
Please keep in mind that Teyuna is a sacred place for native people, so remember to respect the past and the customs of the town: Respect the privacy of farmers and indigenous, don’t come into their houses or take pictures without asking them first. Take into account that it’s a rainy, humid and temperate zone with cold nights between 18° and 22°. Please take just the essential stuff, the weight of your back pack is an important factor for your comfort. Make sure to feel fit. Bring all the garbage back to Santa Marta. The Park and the zone don´t have any garbage collection service. Inside the park there is no signal for mobile phones, so inform your family and friends that you will have communication once you get back to Santa Marta. Please follow the guide’s recommendations. Night in Trek Camps - dorms with mosquito net or hammocks Day 2 - The second day is one of the most challenging days of the trek. You will be crossing the Buritaca River about nine times. During the hike you pass an indigenous village where you can learn something about the local people until we go on to get to the camp. You probably also receive fresh fruits on the way. It is a hike of about 7 to 8 hours to our next camp. Night in Trek Camps - dorms with mosquito net or hammocks Day 3 - Starting early in the morning we’ll begin climbing an estimated 660 meters higher than the start. The final hike to Ciudad Perdida includes climbing up the 1200 awkwardly shaped steps. Reaching the top, we will have magnificent views overlooking the dense jungle and terrain, making the moment even more special. Exploring the Lost City for about 3 an a half hours we will get a better understanding on how large and spectacular it really is. Night in Trek Camps - dorms with mosquito net or hammocks Day 4 - Today you will be heading back to the little village Mamey (about 7 hours walking) and from here you will be taken back to Santa Marta or Tayrona National Park to continue to your onward destination. |
