Below are sample sample itineraries for tours from Leticia. We can customize itineraries to suit your interests since we normally use for good lodges in the area - Calanoa, Marasha Reserve, Tanimboca and La Ceiba and each lodge offers different activities and focuses.We definitely can set different plans according to people’s tastes:
Day 1 - (09:30 – 13:30) – Welcoming by the local team at Leticia airport, depending on the arrival time, after that you will be taken to a rural area, where you will check-in to beautiful tree houses at Omagua reserve and will have lunch. Afterwards, you will visit a Huitoto indigenous community, doing a jungle trek and activities near the Takana river. At night you will have dinner at the “Maloka” (indigenous meeting house) and will share some moments with the elders of the community having a talk about their culture and cosmovision. After that you will get back to the ecolodge.
Day 2 - (07:00) – Breakfast & check-out, from Leticia you will do an 87 kms navigation in speed boats in a shared tour on the Amazon river stopping on the way at the Monkeys’ island and Macedonia, which is a Ticuna indigenous community, before arriving to Puerto Nariño, where you will have lunch and a city-tour. Afterwards you will visit the Tarapoto lakes, expecting to see the pink dolphins, the Victoria Regia and the Lotus flower before heading by boat towards Marasha Reserve, where you will spend the night, will have dinner and will do a night activity looking for caimans and nocturnal fauna.
Day 3 - (05:00) – Optional bird-watching activity and breakfast, later on, you will do a jungle trek at Marasha looking for the fauna and flora of the Peruvian side of the Amazon river which is different to the fauna and flora on the Colombian side, as the first one is frequently flooded and its jungle in general has lower altitude. Here you will have lunch and different jungle activities such as kayak, fishing, swimming on the lakes or watching the Pirarucú. Then we will get back to Leticia where we will take you to the airport in order to take your flight out.
Days 1 - 2 - same as on 3 day tour
Day 3 - (05:00) – Optional bird-watching activity and breakfast, later on, you will do a jungle trek at Marasha looking for the fauna and flora of the Peruvian side of the Amazon river which is different to the fauna and flora on the Colombian side, as the first one is frequently flooded and its jungle in general has lower altitude. Here you will have lunch and different jungle activities such as kayak, fishing, swimming on the lakes or watching the Pirarucú. In the late afternoon we will get back to Leticia where you will have dinner and will spend the night in a comfortable hotel in Leticia.
Day 4 - (07:30) – Breakfast and then depending on the flight itinerary you will check-out and will be taken to the airport for your flight. In case the flight is in the afternoon the lunch is not included, but if you have enough time you can optionally hire a city-tour at the town of Tabatinga (Brazil) visiting its main spots of that town where you will start to hear Portuguese language, Brazilian music and a different culture, or you can hire a canopy and extreme activities day in platforms by ecological paths at a reserve near Leticia.

DAY 1: (07:30 - 13:30) – On this day, you will fly to Leticia. Once there, you will be taken in a public boat by the Amazon with these departure times: (07:00, 10:00 & 13:30) towards La Ceiba community or the Calanoa reserve depending on the chosen accommodation option (La Ceiba has private rooms, but shared bathrooms, Calanoa is more upscale with private bathrooms). You will check-in and will do some afternoon and night activities walking by the primary forest, guided by expert natives who will take you to discover the sounds of thousands of insects, songs of frogs, owls and night monkeys, plants that bloom at night and phosphorescent mushrooms.
DAY 2: (07:00) – On this day, after breakfast you will visit El Vergel or Mocagua indigenous village, to get closer to the daily life of its people, their vision of the jungle, learn about medicinal plants,
legends and myths. In the afternoon, you will have a walk through the jungle around the accommodation, on the border with the Amacayacu Natural Park, where a canoe will pick you up to return by water to the lodge. You will observe, birds, monkeys, possibly some mammals, the adaptations of plants and insects.
DAY 3: (07:00) – On this day, after breakfast you will have a navigation by the Amazon River towards Puerto Nariño. Then, you will have a walking tour in this, which is the first fully sustainable town nationwide with no vehicles and a calm environment. Later on, you will have lunch and will visit the Tarapoto Lakes, where
you can swim and see dolphins. Later on, you will return to Mocagua while enjoying one the great sunsets over the Amazon jungle.
DAY 4: (08:00) – On this day, you will depart to Vista Alegre, visiting a different ecosystem of the lowest lands of the Peruvian side of the river. You will either walk through the forest, or if it is the season of high waters, you will navigate in canoe through the flooded forest observing birds, monkeys, sloths among other fauna. In the afternoon, visit the garden (chagra) of a traditional indigenous doctor that will guide teach you about the cultivation and the use of medicinal plants.
(07:00) – On this day, if you want to get up early, we can organize bird watching activity at 5:30 am. You can return to Leticia on a
public boat with these departure times: (07:00, 11:00 & 15:00). Once at Leticia, you can optionally have a tour by the city and the Ethnographic Museum of the Bank of the Republic. You will be taken to the airport 2 hours before your flight to Bogota.
