Cocuy National Park Trek
Day 1 - Private transfer to bus terminal in Bogotá. Public land transfer by bus (10 hours drive approx.). Overnight on the bus
Day 2 - arrive in the traditional town of El Cocuy -
Welcome breakfast - Register and introduction at the National Park Office - Patrimonial and cultural tour around town - Traditional lunch (additional drinks not included)
In the afternoon, we will participate in a workshop and an experiential tour where you will be involved in the wool production processes and the ancient salt dynamics that existed between the local cultures and the tribes of Casanare. The afternoon will end with a delicious traditional snack and a beautiful souvenir made by local Cocuy artisans. Back to the hotel and free time. This first day will allow the visitor to have a proper rest from the bus travel and start to acclimatize.
Day 3 : Lagunillas river, Pulpito del Diablo and Pan de Azúcar
6 am: Breakfast before setting off on the Lagunillas – Laguna Grande Trek . - 1-hour journey in a private vehicle to the starting point of the trek. - We will reach the heights of La Cueva (the cave), offering us views of the glacier range, where we will set off en route to the Pulpito del Diablo. Once there, our trek will take us along the Lagunillas river valley, we will pass beautiful paramo ecosystems and wetlands. Once in the middle of the valley we will start making our way higher, reaching the ancient La Plazuela lake, before our arrival at El Hotelito, where we will take a break and prepare ourselves for the climb to El Alto del Conejo. We will take this ascent slowly, taking time to breathe in the spectacular view of the Pan de Azucar glacier, Campanillas Negro and Blanco, and the awe-inspiring emerald lakes in the middle of the canyon.
Climbing along some flat stone balconies, we will get within 20 metres of the glacier and take some time to enjoy the panoramic views, take some pictures, hydrate and have a snack to build up our energy for the descent. We will return using a different trail, passing by a stunning páramo and the Tablonera lake – depending on the time of year we might be joined by flocks of migrating ducks. We will then head to the white cave before making our way to La Esperanza farm, where we will rest and enjoy a delicious dinner, cooked by the owners.

Day 4: Frailejones Valley and Laguna Grande de la Sierra -
7 am: Delicious farm breakfast. - We will start the trek to the Laguna Grande de la Sierra lake and the Cóncavos glacier border. Along this route, we will have the opportunity to explore the Andean high cloud forest and one of the most beautiful waterfalls in the park, before arriving at an altitude of 4,000m in order to cross the Frailejones Valley. After that, we will start ascending to the Laguna Grande, and then go up to the viewpoint of the glacier border, where we will have time to rest, take pictures, rehydrate and eat our snacks. - We will go back using the same path to the La Esperanza farm, where our vehicle will be waiting for us to take us back to Cocuy, for our night bus back to Bogotá.
Day 5 - arrive Bogota and transfer to hotel
