Discovering the Serra Verde on Train and Bike

Explore the modern, culturally diverse city of Curitiba, then go by train to Morretes, a coastal town famous for its historical buildings and the Barreado, a typical regional dish. It is a beautiful journey of three hours along 110Km in the middle of Serra do Mar, cutting the Atlantic Forest and through 13 tunnels and bridges. Explore the countryside by bicycle there and on Ilha do Mel, a beautiful island located at the mouth of the Bay of Paranaguá, which many people consider has the best beaches in the state.

DAY 1 – OrigIn – Curitiba
Airport arrival at Curitiba, capital of Parana state, where you will be met and transferred to your hotel. If you like good, fresh coffee, you can’t wait to drink it, the best time to start the trip is now. Soon after check in, mounted on our bikes, we’ll visit some of the most welcoming and important coffee shops of Curitiba, tasting the best Brazilian coffee prepared by awarded baristas in Brazil and abroad. Each of the stops is made with a commented tasting, giving coffee lovers contact with at least 4 different types of specialty coffees. But not only the types of coffee show us the diversity of this delicious universe; in the Coffee Bike Tour we will be amazed at the different brewing processes offered by coffeehouses of Curitiba, such as the traditional espresso, the french press, aero press and differentiated brewed using the Hario V-60. Because coffee is a good partner for all hours and cafeterias in Curitiba offer us the best in specialties! Accommodation. DAY 2 – Curitiba - Morretes (B, L) After breakfast, we check out and leave towards the train station of Curitiba. At the appropriate time, we’ll embark on the Serra Verde Express train ride in tourist class, bound for Morretes, witnessing the incredible scenery amid Serra do Mar. We will have lunch in Morretes a typical regional dish called barreado and seafood. After lunch, we’ll take a walk in the historic downtown of the city and then to our pousada to check in. Accommodation. DAY 3 – Morretes – Pontal - Ilha do Mel (B)
After breakfast, we will go out for a bike ride in Morretes through rural villages, crossing rivers and streams, fountains of water, places with mountains views, an artisanal cachaça mill, natural pools, a small waterfall, lakes, woods and a suspension bridge. We will return to the pousada to check out and go to Pontal to catch the ferry bound for Ilha do Mel. As soon as we arrive, we will walk to Farol das Conchas lighthouse. We return to the lodge and have lunch and free afternoon in Ilha do Mel. Accommodation. DAY 4 – Ilha do Mel (B)
After breakfast at the pousada, we will pick up the bikes and start pedaling to the Fort Nossa Senhora dos Prazeres. The ride is held on the beach and takes 30 to 40 minutes each way. The rest of the day on the island we’ll have accompaniment of our guide to do other hiking activities or even continue with the bikes until sunset. Accommodation. DAY 5 – Ilha do Mel – Ponta do Sul - Curitiba – Destination (B) After breakfast and check out, way back to catch the ferry to Pontal do Sul, land transfer from Pontal to Curitiba airport for the next destination.
