Expeditions on the Jacare-Acu and Awape
|
The Jacare-Acu and Awape Expeditions sail to remote areas north of Manaus. The wilderness is a very important element of these tours and so are the people who live there. In their genuine cultural expressions one can find true beauty and simplicity. There is much to learn from them and these help increase understanding and respect between different peoples. That is why these socio-ecological itineraries were created.

Another important aspect is Low Impact Tourism. To know and understand the spirit of the true Amazon Rainforest, you have to travel by boat. Whether you disembark near an isolated community, in a sanctuary of parrots and macaws, in a desert beach with gull nests and turtle eggs, or paddle a canoe, you must keep your impact to a minimum. For that reason, these boats operate with small groups, with low fossil fuel emission, low noise level, and organic trash disposal. Many of the places you will visit are exclusive to these cruises..
We want you to open your mind to see the forest and the people of the rivers with a new understanding, exploring in truth with lectures, conversations, and seeing first hand with new experiences. With security, comfort, and leisure, we can walk down the paths together, disarming taboos, and breaking fears. You will observe the sky, the forest, and the waters of the Amazonia like you have never imagined before, a truly amazing experience.

The itinerary includes the highlights of the Manaus region, such as the Meeting of the Waters and a visit to an indigenous community. The boat ride along the Rio Negro to the Anavilhanas National Park - the second largest river archipelago in the world, with over 400 islands (the first is further up the Rio Negro, in the Mariuá archipelago). This is the ideal route for those who have little time but want to explore the remote and preserved Amazon, sailing up the Rio Negro. The Jaú National Park is one of the largest conservation units in the world, declared a Cultural Heritage of Humanity. With rich biodiversity and giant trees, this protected and remote place is accessible only by river expeditions. Forest trails, water trails, creeks and igapós (in the rainy season) and river beaches in the dry season are the highlights of this expedition. Includes: Visit to the caboclo community, trails in the Madadá Caves, nighttime spotting, visit to Velho Airão and Anavilhanas National Park. Jaú 2025 dates: Feb. 12-16, 17-21,24-28, March 1-5, 16-20, April 7-11, May 6-10, 25-29, June 7-11, 18-22, 23-27, July 6-10, Aug. 4-8, 12-16, Sept. 4-8, 24-28, Oct. 1-5, 9-13, Nov. 13-17, 24-28, Dec. 4-8, 18-22 Jaú Plus (07 days / 06 Nights)
The largest freshwater forest park in the world still holds enigmas to be unraveled. Due to the relatively complicated logistics of access, its trails, waterfalls and creeks are little explored by tourists. Monkeys, sloths, dolphins, pacas and birds can be observed during overnight stays in the jungle, or from the river, close to sunset. In the dry season, giant otters are the highlight. Riverside communities, with genuine northern cultural manifestations, give a human touch to a region where nature still commands the show. Jaú Plus 2025 dates: Jan. 18-24, March 8-14, April 22-28, July 22-28, Sept. 16-22, Oct. 21-27, Nov. 18-24, Dec. 20-26 Anajaú (07 days / 06 Nights)
With a diverse range of wildlife and human attractions, this itinerary offers diving with Pink Dolphins, interaction with Tuiuka Indians and sailing through different ecosystems - from the Solimões River, with its muddy waters, to the Anavilhanas National Park, where the mirror-like waters of the Rio Negro reflect the stunning landscape. At its most distant point, we will visit the Jaú River, home to the largest freshwater forest park in the world. Riverside communities, with genuine northern cultural expressions, give a human touch to a region where nature still commands the show. Anajaú 2025 dates: Feb. 8-14, March 23-29, April 1-7, May 10-16, June 1-7, July 15-21, Aug. 25-31, Sept. 12-18, Oct. 21-27, Nov. 2-8, Dec. 13-19 Jauaperi Reserve (08 days / 07 nights)
If among all the attractions that the Amazon has to offer your greatest desire is to contemplate wildlife, this is the itinerary for you. Despite beaches that appear during the dry season, villages with exquisite crafts and charming waterfalls, the Jauaperi River is the untouched home of some of the most stunning species of Amazonian fauna - giant otters, manatees, jabiru, coatipur, tree monkeys, huge black caimans, flocks of red toucans, solitary spotted hawks and outrageous multicolored macaws. Jauaperi Reserve 2025 dates: Jan. 25-Feb. 1, April 12-19, May 18-25, June 21-28, Aug. 16-23 In addition to the main tours described above, our operator operates on a charter basis, the following tours:
Jaú-Extreme (8 days/7 nights), Rio Branco (9 days/8 nights), Alto-Médio Negro (9 days/8 nights), Serras Guerreiras de Tapuruquara (9 days/8 nights) and Serra do Aracá (10 days/9 nights). The itineraries are arranged chronologically according to the flood and dry seasons of the Rio Negro, optimizing the available attractions as much as possible, whose availability varies greatly according to the river level. Therefore, some itineraries are only available during the flood season, and others only during the dry season. For charters, we recommend that this factor be taken into account.
