This tour is designed for adventure-minded travelers. The activities don't require extreme fitness or technical skills, but some good physical aptitude is necessary to enjoy all the trip. There is not an age limit for this trip, as active people of all ages can do the planned activities or we can customize some of them.
Here you can expect to see great landscapes, have a wide variety of hikes, outdoor sport activities and be far from the crowds and mass tourism, also getting a deep contact with the local culture, rural communities and even indigenous groups all the way. DAY 1 - WELCOME IN BOGOTÁ
We will pick up the group at El Dorado Airport and take them to the chosen hotel. Our bilingual guide will be waiting at the exit of the airport with a banner with the name of the passengers. At night the group will have time for dinner and rest. MEALS: (-/-/-) HOTEL: HOTEL DE LA OPERA OR SIMILAR DAY 2 - EXPLORING BOGOTÁ On this day, after you recover from the international flight, you will have a full day city-tour, where you will visit the most iconic spots of the capital of Colombia, such as the La Candelaria neighborhood, Monserrate church and the gold museum of Bogota. MEALS: (B/L/-) HOTEL: HOTEL DE LA OPERA OR SIMILAR DAY 3 - CHINGAZA NATIONAL PARK On this day, we will take you early in the morning by car to Chingaza National park, which is located 60 kms away from Bogota. Once there we will do a first trek in the Páramo ecosystem through a 5 km trail by 3 different lakes called "Siecha", where the myth of "El Dorado" and gold offerings took place centuries ago. 3200 - 3800 m.a.s.l. MEALS: (B/L/D) ACCOMMODATION: CABINS INSIDE CHINGAZA NATIONAL PARK DAY 4 - CHINGAZA NATIONAL PARK
On this day, we will get deeper inside the national park and will do hikes of 10 kms in total in order to see hidden spectacular landscapes of the eastern Colombian mountain range. With some luck we might see the Andean bear. At night we will get back to Bogota to spend the night and rest in a comfortable hotel. 3200 - 3800 m.a.s.l. MEALS: (B/L/-) HOLIDAY INN PARQUE DE LA 93 OR SIMILAR DAY 5 - VILLA DE LEYVA On this day, you will be taken to Villa de Leyva on a 4-hour private ground transfer. Once at Villa de Leyva you will have a city tour by the cobblestone streets of the museums, local handicraft shops and attractions nearby such as the blue lagoons and the paleontological museum. MEALS: (B/L/-) HOTEL: HOTEL CASA TERRA OR SIMILAR DAY 6 - BARICHARA Today, you will be taken to Barichara by a 4-hour private ground transfer. Once at Barichara, you will have a walking tour by the characteristic terracotta buildings, its cobblestone streets, the museums and other surprises of this town, which is ranked by many as "The most beautiful town of Colombia". MEALS: (B/L/-) HOTEL: CASA BARICHARA OR SIMILAR DAY 7 - CHICAMOCHA OR SU- AREZ RIVER RAFTING Today, you will have a rafting experience with two options. The first option is to do the Chicamocha river rafting which is easier and a soft adventure surrounded by astonishing landscapes of the Chicamocha canyon. The second option is the Suarez river rafting which has rapids of 4 and 5 level and requires some previous experience and good physical condition MEALS: (B/L/-) HOTEL: CASA BARICHARA OR SIMILAR. DAY 8 - CHICAMOCHA TREK - DAY 1 Today, you will be taken to a rural area of Villanueva town in order to start a 10 km hike down to Jordan, while enjoying the great landscapes of this canyon, which is the 2nd largest in the world. You will spend the night at the lowest point of the canyon in a charming ecolodge that has natural water pools. MEALS: (B/L/-) HOTEL: TAMARINDO ECOLODGE OR SIMILAR DAY 9 - CHICAMOCHA TREK - DAY 2 Today, you will start a hike of 5 km with 850 meters of elevation gain, passing by an ancient important bridge and walking by a well maintained cobblestone trail, while admiring the landscapes of the north side of the canyon. Once you arrive to Los Santos town, you will be taken to the hotel and will have a coffee tour at one of the most important "haciendas" for this plantation. DAY 10 - SANTA MARTA
Today you will fly from Bucaramanga airport to Santa Marta (10:33-12:15), where you will have free time to enjoy this city, which is the oldest of South America, having a great warm Caribbean weather, some interesting spots, museums and a very walkable downtown full of energy and local music - or you can hire a city-tour with us. MEALS: (B/-/-) HOTEL: CASA DE LEDA HOTEL OR SIMILAR DAY 11 - LOST CITY - DAY 1 Today, we will head up one hour north in a 4x4 vehicle, where after a briefing of all the trek, you will have lunch at El Mamey town. Afterwards you will start a hike of 7.6 Km to Adán’s cabin, passing by several wells and natural fresh water pools from the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, ending the day by resting at campsite 1 MEALS: (B/L/D) ACCOMMODATION: RURAL CABIN WITH BASIC BUNK BEDS, SHARED TOILETS DAY 12 - LOST CITY - DAY 2 On this day, we will have a long hike of 17 kms, where we will enter Wiwa indigenous territory. We will first pass by Mutanyi, which is a traditional indigenous village. We will have lunch at campsite 2 and then will continue to Paraíso Teyuna (campsite 3), where you will have dinner. MEALS: (B/L/D) ACCOMMODATION: RURAL CABIN WITH BASIC BUNK BEDS, SHARED TOILETS DAY 13 - LOST CITY - DAY 3 Today, we will start the final trek to the Ciudad Teyuna (Lost City) where you will first pass the Buritaca River, and then will ascend 1200 steps that lead to the terraces of our main destination. Once there, you will have time to enjoy the place. Then you will head back to Campsite 3, where you will have lunch. After that, you will hike to campsite 2, where you will have dinner and rest. MEALS: (B/L/D) ACCOMMODATION: RURAL CABIN WITH BASIC BUNK BEDS, SHARED TOILETS DAY 14 - LOST CITY - DAY 4 Today, we will leave the indigenous territory early in the morning. We will have a long hike of 17 kms, having breakfast at campsite 1. Then we will continue the hike to get to the starting point of the experience - El Mamey, where you will have lunch and then you will be taken in private vehicles to Santa Marta where you can rest in a comfortable hotel.
