​Only 5 hours away from Bogota, over the same East Andes mountain range and around 2100 meters above the sea level, the intricacy of the Karstic rock labyrinth formations upholstered with little fossils million of years old, and decorated with the high mountain Andean fog-forest gift us an incredible landscape. We want to take you to submerge in this incredible wonderland of forest and caves.

Day 1: Bogotá
The first day you will arrive to the hotel in Bogota, and depending of the time of the arrival the idea is to go and see a little of the city center. Otherwise you will have time for relaxing.

Day 2: Bogotá - El Peñón.
Early in the morning after the breakfast, at about 9am, we will depart north from the hotel  and will arrive 5 hours later to the little town of el Peñon Santander, where we will stay the next two nights.  We will stay in a farmer’s house close by the town, and depending of the time of the arrival, we can do a small hike around the house area. This house is where a Hispanic-Swiss Speleologist friend lives and he will guide us on this adventure.

Day 3:
This day we will start hiking to see some of the caves. We need to be well equipped and to take the lunch with us to eat at the cave. The hiking would take around 5 hours. The idea is that we have at least 3 different caves to see and, depending of the weather and the physical shape of each of the explorer, we will decide on the spot which ones to visit. 

Day 4:  
This which is our last day, we will wake up early around 4am to go and see the beautiful spectacle at the top of the mountain close by the town, only 20 minutes by car, to see the sunrise in front of the ¨Panama Valley¨- a local canyon around 1000 meters deep. We need to do a 30 minutes’ hike by ancient trails to get to the top and enjoy the spectacle. Then after returning and taking the breakfast we can go and do a last short hike near the house to see some more of the area, and around midday we will depart back to Bogota.

Notes

• This trip is for active people. Though it is not necessary to be a highly trained sport person it is important to be in good shape.
• The weather is fresh during the day and can rain easily but in the nights can the temperature down to 4 C°.
• In this area it is possible to do some more sports activities, like MTB, or rappeling into a cave, so we can personalize your trip according to your wishes.​
  

What to take:

• A small hiking backpack for day hikes.
• Fresh long sleeve shirts and trousers for hiking.
  -Better dry fit or similar-.
• A sweater or jacket, scarf or buff. (nights can be chilly).
• Waterproof poncho.
• Personal Towel.
• Hiking boots.

• Sunglasses.
• Camelback or something for bringing water on the hikes.
• Sunscreen.
• Lips balm.
• Mosquito repellent.
• Small personal first aid kit.
