Juma Lodge
|
The Juma Amazon Lodge is located in a remote and untouched region 100 km (62 miles) southeast of Manaus.
|
It can be reached in approximately three hours by vans and boats (during the trip we pass through the Meeting of the Waters and, on the way back, also by the Pirarucu Floating Dock). The construction and operation of the lodge comply with a respect of the limitations of the environment, which is the very reason for the hotel to exist. All materials used in the construction are plentiful in the area. The Lodge was built on solid ground and is supported on stilts, facing Juma Lake. This type of construction is necessary due to the flood season, when the river water level rises up to 20meters (66 feet).
There are six standard bungalows facing the jungle, twelve special bungalows facing the lake and one panoramic bungalow.
Transfers from Manaus are done at 7am and at 1:30pm. Passengers arrive back to Manaus at about 11:30am on the last day
|
The restaurant is also built on stilts. The tables (and benches) are long and curved, creatively carved out of a light, blond wood. The meals are in a buffet-style, with regional and international cuisine. The front desk, located in front of a deck area with a nice lake view, has a small bar, some games (cards, backgammon, chess, etc.), books about the Amazon, painting implements and a professional telescope for moon and star observation.
An observation tower will be available soon! |

Just a brief "Thank You" for the excellent Juma Lodge experience this past week. I was impressed by the coordination of the ground (van and boat) transportation, the lodge accommodations, the sumptious meals, the knowledgeable guide (Leon), and the friendly staff at the lodge." Sincerely, Steven The trip was wonderful. I loved the lodge and we should have stayed at least one more night. We had a nice cabin, the transport went well and the food was excellent. Marjan I really enjoyed my stay at Juma Lodge. All activities and transfers were very well organized. The food and accommodations were excellent. I would highly recommend the lodge to your other clients. Craig Juma was awesome! Both Amanda and i thought it was the best part of our 5 week South America trip. I was there in 2007 and enjoyed this visit much more. The guide was much better this time and extremely knowledgeable. Thanks for organizing this for us and we will definitely be recommending you guys to others that are heading to South America. Brendan "I absolutely loved my trip, thank you so much for the part you played in organizing it. Both Eco Camp and Juma Lodge were fantastic and exceeded all my expectations. My only snag was a cancelled flight to Ushuaia due to bad weather but that was unavoidable and the rest all went smoothly. Thanks again and I will defiantly recommend your services to anyone travelling to South America." Bron |
