Vaupes Jungle Tours - 4-6 Days
Vaupes is the most isolated department of Colombia, that makes it a unique place due to its high level of conservation, great biodiversity and authenticity of the indigenous tribes living there.
During this experience, you will cross different indigenous territories admiring stunning landscapes, such as the Morocco Tepui, Cananary river and the marvelous Raudal del Jirijirimo which has the most powerful river rapids in Colombia, and is the inspiration for several indigenous legends, known by locals as the Anaconda’s bed. Aspects to Consider:
Accommodation: CAMPING & HAMMOCKS. Extras and options for the trip Option of organizing specialized activities such as bird-watching. Other language speaking guides or translators (For this we need to confirm availability of guides). We also offer a 6 day version called El Sendero De La Anaconda, which is similar, but it includes an invitation to share the sacred dance of the Jaguar Men, of the Yuruparí tradition, whose origins and ancient traditions have been maintained for hundreds of years (Ethnic Groups: Tucanos, Taibanos, Barasanos, Cubeos, Tatuyos, Besanos, Guananos), and they are inviting us to their sacred ceremony that takes place in the months of January, March, June, July, September, October and November.
This millenary sacred dance ceremony, in which the dancers use their power elements such as crowns of feathers, canes, maracas, and animals sacrificed to the gods, perform their dance in the Maloca (sacred house, the cosmic mother), directed by Great Spirit and guided by the shaman: Payé. Sacred medicinal plants accompany the ritual, ñopo (toasted powdered tobacco that is blown through the nose), mambe (toasted coca leave powdered that is put in the mouth and slowly absorbed), smoked tobacco wrapped in plantain leaves, and Capi or Yagé. The invitation to the party is for all those who feel the call to learn more about the ancient cultures of the Amazon and want to observe with respect (and without obligation to use sacred plants), admiration, transformation, and joy. Our approach to interacting with these territories is conscious, respectful, cultural, natural, and sustainable tourism. We arrive at meeting spaces from association and agreements with the local tribes, helping to preserve knowledge through sharing, and caring for the territory by discovering it and recognizing it as our own.
