UYUNI SALT FLAT 2 Day Day 1: Pick up from hotel in Uyuni or airport and departure to the Train Cemetery, an abandoned railway complex from the 19th century. Continue visiting the Colchani village, a small local center of salt factories where handcrafted process is possible to observe. Drive into the Salt Flats of Uyuni, the largest and highest in the world. In the rainy season the salt flats are sheeted in water, becoming a gigantic reflective mirror with surreal visual experiences. Picnic lunch in the middle of the salt flats. Day 2: Breakfast and departure to the northern part of the salt flats to visit the Mummies of Coqueza, a family group of incredible remains preserved for more than 500 years, these are located in the Tunupa Volcano slopes, this volcano represents guardian of the communities surrounding the salt flats and an important figure in Inca and Andean cultures of the place. Continue the visit to the viewpoint of the volcano to appreciate the salt flat from an elevated view and the colorful fields of quinoa. Picnic lunch on route. As the last attraction, visit the Chiquini Cave, an underwater cave before the formation of the glaciers characterized by the incredible shapes of the stalagmites and stalactites that compose it. Day 2: A new start for visiting the Uyuni Salt Flat, in this opportunity visit salt sculptures, they are large-scale works designed and worked on by more than fifteen families from the town of Colchani. They use salt as their raw material, which they transport in rustic trucks. They work the blocks of salt with tools ranging from electric saws to manual chisels, giving them the desired shape. Continue visiting the salt flats to appreciate the beautiful landscapes that combine the sky and the earth together during this rainy season. Picnic lunch in the middle of the salt flats. 6 Days La Paz to La Quiaca Argentina or Vice Versa Day 1: Private transfer from the airport and visit La Paz city.
Visit the Colonial Jaén Street, one of the best-preserved colonial streets in the city. The tour continues to Murillo Square, where the Cathedral, Government Palace, and National Congress are located. A visit to the Witches’ Market offers a fascinating window into the secret world of Andean mysticism. Later, a visit to the typical Rodríguez market, the largest food market in La Paz, showcases a variety of colorful products sold by local women. A must-see in La Paz is the cable car ride for fantastic views. To finish the tour, visit the spectacular Moon Valley, featuring strange geological formations. Day 2: Early transfer from La Paz city to the Copacabana Sanctuary. Guided visit to the main sanctuary and pilgrimage center of Bolivia, including the Basilica where the Virgin of Copacabana, the patron saint of Bolivians, is located. Afterwards, board the Catamaran Cruise to navigate to Sun Island, the birthplace of the Inca Empire. On this legendary island, visit the Garden, Stairs, and Inca Fountain. The guided itinerary continues with a visit to the Inti Wata Cultural Complex, Bolivia’s main private tourist attraction, accessible only to tourists visiting Sun Island aboard the catamarans. This includes the Ekako Underground Museum, Traditional Medicine and Totora Raft Construction Centers, an artisan center, the Intica shelter, an Inca agriculture botanical garden, and a variety of Andean camelids. Later, return to the catamaran to enjoy lunch on board on route to Copacabana. Finally, transfer back to La Paz city. Day 3: Pick up from the hotel and visit the capital of an ancient civilization, Tiwanaku, located just 72 km from the city of La Paz. During its heyday, Tiwanaku was the main ceremonial center and the cradle of Andean culture. These pre-Inca ruins have sparked a series of archaeological debates that continue today. According to Carbon-14 dating, the emergence of this culture dates back to around 1580 BC. On this visit, you can explore the Kalasasaya Temple (of the Sun), with the enigmatic and famous “Gate of the Sun” inside, the Semi-subterranean Temple, and the Akapana Pyramid. Visit Puma Punku Temple, whose name means “Gate of the Puma,” this complex consists of volcanic rock blocks, some reaching 7 meters in height and weighing over 100 tons. These wonderfully carved stones baffle experts as the advanced tools used to create the perfect angles, circles, millimeter-precise lines, and completely smooth surfaces remain unknown. Finally, visit the local museum, which houses an impressive collection of objects and instruments from civilizations predating the Inca culture. Return to La Paz city. Day 4: Pick up from hotel and transfer to La Paz airport. Flight La Paz – Uyuni (air ticket not included) then, pick up from the airport. Departure to Uyuni Salt Flats to visit the Train Cemetery and Colchani town, where you can observe the process of hand-extracted salt and local salt crafts. Visit Playa Blanca, a salt museum; salt eyes, which are interesting due to the underground water points of the salt flat; salt hexagons, geometric shapes on the salt flat surface, salt mounds, and crossing the salt flat to enjoy the beautiful landscapes. Picnic lunch. Continue the visit to Incahuasi Island. This island is located in the heart of the salt flat and is the largest of a group of islands representing an isolated ecosystem. The island is populated by cacti that reach up to 12 meters high, offering an impressive panorama of the area. Enjoy the sunset and later transfer to the hotel. Day 5: Visit the northern part of Uyuni Salt Falts where we will visit the Coquesa Mummies, human archaeological remains in a small cave near the Tunupa Volcano, from that point we can observe the vastness and beauty of the salt flats. Visit the Chiquini Cave, a circular and humid cave where you can observe impressive stalactite and stalagmite formations. Lunch at a restaurant or picnic. From April to November, the dry season, the salt flats’ surface offers the opportunity to play with photography and perspective. Return to the salt hotel. Day 6: Private transfer from Salt Hotel to La Quiaca, border between Bolivia and Argentina (only driver).

Day 2: Breakfast and start the journey to the Authentic Towns of Lipez: San Cristobal, known for be a mine center village from the colony age; Culpina K, iconic region of the cultivation of the golden grain of royal quinoa. After that you visit the awesome Rock Valley, stones with more than 8 meters high forming a natural sculpture in the middle of the imposing high plateau, next visit to the Ollague Volcano Viewpoint to contemplate a dark stone and very particular volcanic rocks in a totally desert landscape. Lunch picnic on route. Once in the region, you will visit the Smalls Lagoons or Andean Jewels, a set of lagoons characterized by each being particular to the other in its color, smell and chemical compounds that make them so particular within this biodiversity. Transfer to the rustic lodge. Day 3: Breakfast and departure to the Siloli Desert, one of the driest deserts in the world characterized by having rock formations in the middle of the changing dunes is the gateway to the Eduardo Avaroa Reserve, the most visited national park in Bolivia. Continuing with the journey, you visit the Stone Tree, a natural sculpture sculpted by wind erosion over thousands of years. The next attraction is the particular Red Lagoon, unique for its abundance of algae and plankton, which give it its color and have it populated with flamingos, including the James flamingo that was thought to be extinct. Then you will arrive at the “Sol de Mañana” geysers, nice fumaroles over a geothermal area that extend for more than 10 square kilometers, very close to these you will reach the Polques Hot Springs, which are also a product of the volcanic activity of the region, high in medicinal minerals. As the last attraction of the tour, you will visit the Green Lagoon, a small iconic lagoon that tends to have a very emerald color due to the microorganisms that compose it; being the natural boundary between Bolivia and Chile, from there you can observe the Licancabur volcano, at the end of this visit transfer to Hito Cajon border.
