Amazon Adventure Cruise
|
We want you to experience the Amazon, spending as much time as possible touring the Negro River and Anavilhanas Archipelago by boat, canoeing deep in her smaller tributaries, and trekking in the surrounding rainforest. Below is a sample itinerary that can be customized to suit your interests.
|
On the cruise you'll spend the first day exploring the Amazon River itself, the fertile flood plain called the Varzea (in the dry season) and flooded forests called the Igapo (in the rainy season). Most of your tour though will be spent on the tranquil, picturesque and mosquito-free Negro River. You'll see how different and unique the two legendary river systems are. The focus of your tour is the virgin rainforest of the Negro River and the beautiful islands and beaches of the Anavilhanas Archipelago (one of the largest groups of freshwater islands in the world).
You will usually see Pink and Grey River Dolphins, several species of Monkeys, caiman, Tree Sloths and a rich variety of Birdlife including Kingfishers, Herons, Toucans and Macaws. Larger mammals such as Jaguar, Tapir and Deer are here but they very elusive. Note: the attraction of the Amazon is the rainforest, remember; animal sightings cannot be guaranteed.

Normal 5 day Itinerary
The remote and unexplored state Amazonas is the biggest rain forest, home to the largest population of indigenous people in Brazil. With few exceptions, the jungle is relatively untouched and we will have plenty opportunities to observe the fascinating flora and fauna. The best option for exploring this lush region lies in a 4 day and 3 night expedition that includes hiking, nocturnal caiman observation, piranha fishing, swimming with the pink Amazon dolphins, a jungle survival tour, a visit to the caboclas communities and a canoe trip along the igarapés and the igapós. It is a unique and unforgettable experience.
DAY 1 – Origin – Manaus
Airport arrival at Manaus, the capital of the Brazilian Amazon and the central point to start all excursions into the Amazon jungle. We will stop at our accommodation place and from there we will have the option to visit the Amazon Theatre, the Market and the Manaus Port. Accommodation.
DAY 2 – Manaus – Amazon Expedition(B,L,D)
In the morning, the expedition along the Amazon River will begin at the Manaus Port in a private boat that will accommodate us for 4 days during the expedition. At the beginning of the journey we will arrive at the “encontro das aguas”, location where the waters of Rio Negro and Rio Solimoes meet without mixing. Afterwards we will enter the river in small rafts to fish for piranhas and observe the caimans. Accommodation aboard boat in hammocks.
DAY 3 – Amazon Expedition(B,L,D)
We will continue along Rio Negro to meet a ribeirinhos community and their mandioca flour house, and in the afternoon we will visit an Acajatuba community to have an experience with their customs and crafts. Later on, we will travel by canoe to a beach and enjoy a moonlight churrasco dinner. Accommodation aboard boat in hammocks.
DAY 4 – Amazon Expedition (B,L,D)
We will enjoy a bath in the river and, after breakfast, we go visit a caboclo village in the ecological reserve of the Anavilhanas, where we will have the opportunity to swim with the pink dolphins that have their home in the river. In the afternoon, we leave the boat for a jungle survival experience accompanied by a native guide. We will hike through the rain forest learning survival skills, such as how to extract water and milk from trees, primitive hunting techniques and medicinal properties of various plants. Then, we set up camp and prepare a campfire meal to enjoy with caipirinhas. Accommodation in the jungle camp in hammocks.
DAY 5 – Amazon Expedition – Manaus – Destination (B,L)
We will pack up the camp and begin our journey back to the river, arriving at the boat to enjoy a well deserved swim. "The cruise was amazing! I could not have asked for a better experience! The crew was so friendly and accommodating and the food was excellent (even for a picky eater such as myself). I was seriously impressed with all the activities and was especially taken by all the wildlife we saw (feeding monkeys was so much fun!). I think the guide was a little shocked with me at first since I was a young lady all alone but he was very knowledgable and we got along quite well. I learned so much and it was certainly a trip of a lifetime! Thank you for everything. Thank you again, I have never in my life seen such beautiful sunsets! " Erica
