Amazon Expeditions on the Jacare-Acu and Awape
|
The Jacare-Acu and Awape Expeditions sail to remote areas north of Manaus. The wilderness is a very important element of these tours and so are the people who live there. In their genuine cultural expressions one can find true beauty and simplicity. There is much to learn from them and these help increase understanding and respect between different peoples. That is why these socio-ecological itineraries were created. You will notice that there are a wider variety of cruise options than you can get with other boats.

Another important aspect is Low Impact Tourism. To know and understand the spirit of the true Amazon Rainforest, you have to travel by boat. Whether you disembark near an isolated community, in a sanctuary of parrots and macaws, in a desert beach with gull nests and turtle eggs, or paddle a canoe, you must keep your impact to a minimum. For that reason, these boats operate with small groups, with low fossil fuel emission, low noise level, and organic trash disposal. Many of the places you will visit are exclusive to these cruises..
We want you to open your mind to see the forest and the people of the rivers with a new understanding, exploring in truth with lectures, conversations, and seeing first hand with new experiences. With security, comfort, and leisure, we can walk down the paths together, disarming taboos, and breaking fears. You will observe the sky, the forest, and the waters of the Amazonia like you have never imagined before, a truly amazing experience.

All tours offer opportunities for canoeing, standup paddling, hiking, swimming with dolphins, meeting local river people. The regional style of the boats is intended to provide customers the feeling of navigating the rivers as the natives do, but with the comfort, safety, and full service of a modern equipped boat. For groups with up to 7 passengers, the Awapé boat is used. For groups with 8 or more passengers, the Jacaré-Açu boat is used. Comfort items included on both boats
