Dolphin Lodge

Owned and operated since 2005 by a long-time Amazon guide and his family,  which accounts for it's reputation for friendly and attentive service, the Dolphin Lodge is located on the edge of the Mamori River, about (78km) south east of Manaus.  
It is located in a privileged area, not only because of the beauty of the landscape, but also because they have a large amount of dolphins in front of the hotel (Grey and Pink), as well as birds, monkeys, caimans and other animals of the Amazon rainforest.. You can watch the dolphins from within the Hotel restaurant. Behind the hotel they have a site with fruit and medicinal trees such as Castanheira, Andirobeira, Rubber Tree, Rosewood, Acai, Cupuacu, etc. The Samaúma is the biggest tree in the Amazon region, and there is one close to the Dolphin Lodge. There is also  a large variety of caiman species nearby. All of this variety of plants and animals, along with a great guide, makes for a fantastic amazon tour.
The Main Lodge has a reception desk, restaurant as well as a bar . There is also a straw hut with hammocks, where you can relax with a good book and a refreshing caipirinha. All rooms offer a stunning view of the Mamori river. Here are descriptions of the room types

Transfer in:
  • Hotel in Manaus (08:00 AM) => Dolphin Lodge (11:00 AM). 
  • Manaus airport (Pick up upon flight arrival, as long as it arrives between 08:00 AM and 04:00 PM).
Transfer out:
  • Dolphin Lodge (08:00 AM) => Airport or Hotel in Manaus (11:00 AM). 
  • Dolphin Lodge (10:00 AM) => Airport or Hotel in Manaus (01:00 PM).
  • Dolphin Lodge (01:30 PM) => Airport or Hotel in Manaus (04:30 PM). 
Of course if you transfer in the morning, you will not have lunch at the lodge or the afternoon excursion.

Regular Tours

Capivara Package - 3 days / 2 nights

​Day 1 - 08:00 AM - Departure from Manaus (airport or hotel) to the Port of Ceasa.
08:30 AM - Arriving at the Port of Ceasa, transfer by speedboat to the Careiro community, with a short stop at the Meeting of the Waters to take pictures.
09:00 AM - Transfer by kombi or minibus to the Mamorí river. Along the way there is a stop to take pictures of the aquatic plant Waterlily (Vitória Régia). 
10:00 AM - Embark on a speedboat with the opportunity to see birds, alligators, and other animals.
10:30 AM - Arrival at the Dolphin Lodge.
12:00 PM - Lunch.
03:00 PM – Canoe ride to get to know the area and see dolphins.
07:00 PM - Dinner.

Day 2 - 07:00 AM - Breakfast.
08:00 AM - Hiking in the jungle with a local guide, where you will learn more about the wildlife and biodiversity.
12:00 PM - Lunch.
03:00 PM - Piranha fishing.
07:00 PM - Dinner.
08:00 PM - Cayman spotting and observation of nocturnal animals.

Day 3 -    05:30 AM - Canoe ride to see the sunrise and birds.

08:00 AM - Visit to a Caboclo house (local family) to learn about their customs. During this visit, you will also have the opportunity to see an orchidarium. There are many orchids species as cattleyas, galeandra, brassia and others.

Reservation includes:
• A varied buffet breakfast with tropical fruits and regional specialties, as well as Brazilian cuisine for lunch and dinner.
• Transfer from the airport or hotel in Manaus to the Dolphin Lodge and return to Manaus (airport or hotel).
• Guided tours according to the package booked. Language: Portuguese, English or Spanish.
• Apartment with private bathroom.
 
Reservation doesn't include:
Juices for lunch and dinner, only for breakfast. Packages do not include other drinks. Drinks can be purchased at the bar, only in cash, they don't accept credit cards at the hotel.
• Additional transfers.
• City tour in Manaus. 

  • In case of cancellation up to 5 days before the check-in, 90% of the prepayment will be returned.
  • In case of cancellation between 4 days before check-in and the day before the reservation, 65% of the prepayment will be refunded.

Notes:
  • It’s recommended to bring: repellent, sunglasses, hat or cap, comfortable clothes preferably dark, tennis, sandals, long sleeve shirts and trousers for excursions at night, sunscreen, raincoat, and binoculars.
  • Please take the minimum possible luggage to facilitate transfer. It’s recommended to bring to the Lodge 10 kilos per person. You can also store the excess baggage at the office in Manaus at no charge.
  • There’s free Wi-Fi available only at the restaurant.
  • There is no phone signal in that area.  
  • The tours are conducted in groups. Maximum of people per guide is 8.
  • The hotel capacity is 45 people.
  • Electricity 24 hours in the rooms (110 volts).
  • Flood period: April to August. Drought period: September to March.
  • The bungalows are on the river, only during the period of river flooding (April to August).
  •  It is not possible to swim with dolphins, because they are not domesticated in that region. 
  • While visiting a local family, giving them a tip or gifts for the children, such as toys and school supplies, is recommended.
  • There is no transport at night for security reasons.
  • It is not allowed to stop at sights, restaurants, and other places during the transfers. Only the path described in the package will be carried out.

07:00 AM - Hiking in the jungle with a local guide, where you will learn more about the wildlife and biodiversity.
03:00 PM – Hiking in other areas.
07:00 PM - Dinner.
08:00 PM - Fishing with harpoon.

Sustainability Measures

  • The lodge employs only the local community to assist in the economic development in the Mamori river area.
  • In addition to the employees working at the Dolphin Lodge as cooks, chambermaids, guides and boatmen, there are guided tours to some local native houses.
  • The local people receive tourists in their homes to get to know different cultures and to help their family income, which comes mainly from rural work and social program benefits.
  • In 2015, the Sumauma lake was annexed to the Dolphin Lodge’s territory in order to preserve the wildlife, especially capybaras.
  • Excursions are with  low environmental impact;
  • Wildlife for observation only;
  • Proper garbage disposal;
  • reduced use of plastics.
