There are 2 seasons for Galapagos Islands travel, though the seasons are mainly tied to mainland occurrences because there is always something to see and do on the Galapagos. Low Season is May, June, September, October and some boats offer discounted rates then. September is probably the time when the sea is the least calm. Spaces for Christmas normally sell out well in advance.
When you book the Galapagos Island cruise or land option, the air to the islands is normally automatically booked for you. ECOGAL, the company in charge of the management of Baltra’s airport, will charge US$5 (US$10 round trip) for the buses that transport passengers between the airport terminal and the Itabaca Channel. If you are flying on Aerogal/Avianca, passengers WILL NOT HAVE TO PAY for this service, as the transfers are provided by the airline at no extra cost to passengers.

Why do a Galapagos Island cruise?

You can choose from luxury cruises, high-end cruises, sailing yachts and budget Galapagos boats. Galapagos cruise options depend on the traveler’s budget, type of vessel and class of service offered. A Galapagos travel adventure starts with a short flight from Ecuador mainland. There are great tour options to visit Galapagos and to travel to the Galapagos Islands.
For a more intimate experience, the 12 to 16 passengers yachts are perfect. Cruise ships (from 50 to 100 passengers) offer a lot of space and activities for family vacations, while still being in touch with the amazing wildlife of Galapagos. Sailing is a truly unique experience. Our Galapagos Sailing boats will assure a true nautical expedition in full comfort. You can also extend your Galapagos tour by staying at local hotels before or after your cruise. Hotel based tours can be easily arranged.Another amazing add-on is diving; the Galapagos ecological marine reserve is simply a paradise for divers. Read Maria C.'s review of Amazon Adventures on Yelp
