Brazil Beaches By Hiking and Biking
Ilha Grande and Florianopolis
Ilha Grande (Big Island) has 86 tropical beaches, rivers, crystal clear lagoons, waterfalls, plains, mountains and peaks spread out over 193km2. The island has no roads and no private cars but many hiking trails that links to the beaches. 1/3 of its scenic beauty of rugged landscape with luxuriant vegetation is a State Park and Atlantic Rainforest covers approximately half of the island. The south part of Santa Catarina is considered a true natural paradise. On the eastern side of the island there are the most beautiful beaches and less visited spots, as the vast majority of tourists spend their holidays in the north of the island.
DAY 1 – Origin–Río de Janeiro– Ilha Grande
Airport arrival at Rio de Janeiro to start your Brazil Beaches tour. Transfer by road to the coastal town of Conceição de Jacareí, where a flexboat will be waiting to transport us to Vila do Abraão, the only town in Ilha Grande. We will check in at our hotel and begin to experience the nice and peaceful atmosphere of the island. Accommodation. DAY 2–Ilha Grande (B, L) Departure to Pouso Beach at Enseada de Palmas walking or on a schooner. From this beach we go on a trail (15/20 minutes) towards Lopes Mendes beach which, undoubtedly, is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. With its fine white sands and crystal clear waters, the beach captivates all visitors. This beach receives waves that appeal to swimmers as well as experienced surfers. It is 2.4 kilometers long and at the end it has a beautiful and clean stream, as well as a charming chapel and a mosaic by Silvio Cavalheiro on an old ship barrel. We then return to Pouso beach to catch our taxi boat back to Vila do Abraão. DAY 3–Ilha Grande (B) Departure by boat to Feiticeira beach, a small and delightful beach at the Estrelas bay. On this beach, free time to swim or walk to the Feiticeira waterfall. We will continue through the Saco do Céu, a true ecological sanctuary for its mangroves that form a habitat of various species. On this lovely bay, in the night, it is possible to admire the reflection of stars on the surface of the water. That is why it has that name os Stars (Estrelas) beach. We’ll stop at Fora beach with its fishermen houses and rustic restaurants along the river that ends at Perequê beach. DAY 4–Ilha Grande–Río de Janeiro– Florianopolis(B) Transfer by road to the airport of Rio de Janeiro for departure. Arrival at Florianópolis Airport, capital of the state of Santa Catarina, and transfer to the southern part of the island where our ecological pousada is located. This pousada has a garden with a natural swimming pool, and a dining room with ocean view. Accommodation. DAY 5 – Pântano do Sul (B, L) We will get to know ¨Floripa¨ in a unique way, doing physical exercise and pedaling. In the morning we ride our bike across the island’s best preserved beaches (Campeche, Morro das Pedras and Armação). We will ride a bike along 48 km through national parks, beaches and some asphalt stretches. Free afternoon and accommodation. DAY 6 – Pântanodo Sul – Lagoa da Conceição (B, L) In the morning, transfer to Lagoa da Conceição. For this day our proposal is to continue discovering the south of Santa Catarina Island. We leave in the morning to take a path that runs along Lagoa da Conceição. This hike leads to a community that is only reached by this walking trail or by boat.We will walk by the Atlantic Forest, lakes and a fishing village that maintains its local customs. Return by boat and bus. Free afternoon. Accommodation. DAY 7 – Lagoa da Conceição (B, L) In the morning, we will leave for another bike tour, now in the North of the island. We will ride for 62 km along beaches, lagoons, ecological reserves in a very natural atmosphere. Accommodation DAY 8 – Lagoa da Conceição – Florianópolis –Destination (B) Transfer to Florianópolis Airport to board to our next destination. |
