Cabo de La Vela - Guajira - 2 daysDay 1 - Your trip begins at 08:00 am in Riohacha. From there we will go to Uribia, the indigenous capital of La Guajira. It will be a 1 hour drive. Upon arrival in Uribia, you will have a city tour, visiting this important Wayúu cultural center. Then you will enjoy breakfast, and after that, start your trip to one of the most famous places in La Guajira: the Salinas de Manaure. It will be a journey of 20 minutes approx. by car.
History and culture are preserved in Manaure, where the contrast of the white of the salt ponds and the sea, are a magical setting to discover. On this trip, in addition to learning, in the company of a community leader, the salt process and how it integrates with the work of the Wayuú community, you will be able to visit the Wualapuinje ranch and spend an unforgettable afternoon. Tour of the salt ponds (brine harvest pools), sighting of aquatic and land birds. Then you will leave for Cabo de La Vela, it will be a journey of 2 hours approx. Upon arrival, you will have lunch at the lodge. In the afternoon, you will visit the Dorada and Ojo de Agua beaches, you will see an incredible sunset and then you will go back to the ranchería. The night will be spent in bed, in rooms with a private bathroom. Day 2 - Around 7 am you will leave the inn heading to the beaches of Mayapo. If you have not heard about Mayapo, it is normal, most people do not know this beach located only 40 minutes from Riohacha, an unexplored place to rest, share with the community and learn important data about the Wayuú community, here you can also buy handicrafts. It will be a journey of 5 hours approx. Upon arrival, you will visit the Maliwala Refuge, a space to enjoy traditional cuisine. You will have a lunch that will bring together some of the most exquisite dishes of the Guajira gastronomy. You will have time to enjoy the beaches of Mayapo, one of the must-see destinations on your trip to La Guajira. This area is ideal for practicing water sports as there are good winds, good waves and sandy beaches. In the afternoon and after a tour of approx. 40 minutes, you will arrive at a hotel in Riohacha, where you can take a shower and rest. We can add an overnight in Riohacha and an airport transfer the next day, if desired. Cabo de La Vela and Punta Gallinas -3 daysDay 1 - Your trip starts at 05:00 am in Riohacha. From there you will go to Uribia, the indigenous capital of La Guajira - it will be a 1 hour tour. Upon arrival in Uribia, you will have a city tour, visiting this important Wayuu cultural center. Then you will enjoy breakfast, and after that start your trip to one of the most famous places in La Guajira: the Salinas de Manaure. It will be a journey of 20 minutes approx. by car. At the Salinas de Manaure you will visit the ponds where salt is extracted and processed in an artisanal way, the tour will be done in the company of a community leader. You will have time to share with the community at the Wualapuinje ranchería and you will learn about the rituals, customs, traditional dance, as well as taste a sample of typical food from the Wayuu community.
Then you will leave for Cabo de La Vela, it will be a journey of 2 hours approx. Upon arrival, you will have lunch at the lodge. In the afternoon you will hike up to the Pilón de Azúcar, a sacred place of the Wayuu community. You will have time to rest at the beaches of Dorada and Ojo de Agua, where you will see an incredible sunset and then you will go back to the ranchería. Day 2 - After breakfast, you will leave for Punta Gallinas, but before that you will make a stop in Bahía Honda to have lunch in a restaurant facing the sea and take the opportunity to take a shower. After crossing the arid desert, you will connect with one of the most famous places in La Guajira: Las Dunas de Taroa. Upon arrival you will be able to feel the wind getting tangled in your tracks to welcome you to the place where your dreams dance to the rhythm of the sea. You will enjoy the landscape, maybe you can take a bath, all at your own pace because we prefer that you contemplate and let yourself fall in love without haste. You will visit the Lighthouse and the beaches of Punta Aguja and you will see a beautiful sunset there. You will go to the inn where you will participate in a Wayuu weaving activity and we will get to know two local projects developed by the Bahía Hondita community. Here you will understand the Wayuu cosmogony much better and then enjoy dinner and finally rest. They are rooms with beds.
