Guajira Tours
La Guajira is a department (province) located in the northernmost peninsula of Colombia, with the largest desert area in the country, and with very unusual landscapes. Also, this is the region with the largest indigenous population of Colombia, especially thanks to the Wayúu Ethnicity.
The main spots to visit in the desert are El Cabo de la Vela, the Taroa Dunes, the Punta Gallinas lighthouse and La Macuira National Park among other attractions in between those great spots. We offer 2, 3, 4-days tours where you will witness the great landscapes of this desert that offers the ideal conditions for activities such as Kite-surfing, Sand-boarding, Quad-riding among others, having also an indigenous immersion in the Wayúu culture. Cabo de La Vela - Guajira - 2 daysDay 1 - (07:30) – Pick up in Riohacha in 4×4 vehicles, then we will head up north to enter to the desert, stopping at a “Ranchería” (Indigenous small village) Wayúu, where you will optionally have special cultural activities and lunch with them. After that we will take you to Cabo de la Vela and its cliffs, visiting the Rainbow beach, Pilón de Azúcar and Ojo de Agua, before check into the eco-hotel chosen, where you will have dinner and accommodation in “Chinchorros” (special local traditional hammock) or in beds, which have to be booked it in advance for 15 USD extra.
Day 2 - 07:00) – Breakfast and departure in our 4×4 vehicles towards Manaure, where you will visit the salt-flats there that offer different colours in its waters and you will see the process of collecting salt, which is an important economic activity in the region. Afterwards you will be taken to the famous and beautiful beaches of Mayapo, where you will have lunch and will have free time to enjoy the beach. At the end, you will be taken to Riohacha where you will be left at any spot within the city. Day 2 - (07:00) – Breakfast and departure in the 4×4 vehicles towards Punta Gallinas, visiting Bahía Honda beach, the Taroa Dunes and the Lighthouse of Punta Gallinas. After that, we will head to the hotel, where you will check-in and have lunch. In the afternoon there will be an optional boat tour around Bahía Hondita to see flamingos (depending on the season) for 10 USD extra or we can take you to Punta Aguja. At night you will have dinner and accommodation in “Chinchorros” (special local traditional hammock) or in beds, which have to be booked it in advance for 15 USD extra. Day 3 - (07:00) – Breakfast and departure in our 4×4 vehicles towards Manaure, on the way we will visit the beaches, the main spots at the area and will pass by the Eolic park. Once in Manaure you will visit the salt-flats there, Finally, you will be taken to Riohacha where you will end the tour having lunch in that city.
