Iguassu Falls Tours

  • Called Iguacu, Iguazu or Iguassu falls, or Foz do Iguacu, the falls are unequally divided between Brazil and Argentina. To see them properly, you must visit both sides. In Brazil you get the grand overview and in Argentina you get a closer look.
  • The 275 falls are over 3 kilometers (2 miles) wide and 80 meters (260 feet) high, which makes them wider than Victoria, higher than Niagra, and more beautiful than either.
  • Neither words nor photographs do the falls justice - they must be seen and heard in person. The view at the precipice is hypnotizing. ​
  •  Residents of some countries should check to see if a visa is required to visit Brazil. Indian citizens need a visa to visit the Argentine side of the falls.
  • Australians and Canadians need to pay a  fee to visit the Argentina side. 
  • ​Brazil park is open 9am-5pm and Argentina park is open 8am-6pm

To cross to Brazil for day trips, passengers only need to present Passport and Vaccination Certificate and nothing else.
 
FOREIGNERS WHO HAVE BEEN IN BRAZIL:
In order to enter Argentina for the day, they need to present:
Complete Vaccination Certificate + Passport
Present a Sworn Letter of entry and another one of egress. In order to obtain this letter (online) we need you to send us the following documents:
 
1. copy of passport
2. copy of the Vaccination Certificate in PDF format
3. Copy of the Covid-19 insurance policy that includes assistance for Covid-19 in PDF format

At this moment, these are the requirements here at the Brazil/Argentina border. Remember that, according to the evolution of the virus, it can be changed at any moment and without previous notice.

Oct. 18 note: Due to the excessive rain of the last days and the big flood of the Iguassu river, part of the Devil's Throat walkway was destroyed, so this tour is closed. The reopening is expected to take at least 6 months. At the moment, the other tours in the Argentinean Falls (upper and lower footbridge, Gran Aventura and trekking on the Macuco trail) are open and operating normally. On the Brazilian side of the Falls everything is normal.

Staying on Brazil Side

                             Option 1

Day 1- arrive at Brazilian Airport in morning or early afternoon, transfer to Iguazu Falls Brazil , 24 kilometers from downtown Foz do Iguaçu. Arrival to the Visitors Center, at the entrance of the Iguassu National Park, about 10 kilometers from the city center. After passing through the Center, the visit continue, now inside the National Park, along a paved road that will take us to the magnificent Iguassu Falls. There starts the walking tour along the catwalk measuring one kilometer of easy walking. Along this easy trek, there are several gorgeous panoramic views of the Falls and at the end of the catwalk a fantastic close-up encounter with the Devils’ Throat and main cataracts. The tour ends at the upper part of Iguassu Falls accessed through a panoramic elevator; from there, the visitors will follow a track to as far as the Espaço Porto Canoas (The Port Canoas Space), where you will find a pleasurable lookout point with a view to the upper Iguassu River. The Port Canoas Space also has the Porto Canoas Restaurant and snack bars, handicraft shop, toilets and a medical first aid outpost. Then you will be transferred to your selected Brazil hotel for overnight .

Day 2 - breakfast, then visit to the Argentinian side on a private tour. Departure from the Hotel bound for Iguassu Falls, 30 kilometers from downtown Foz do Iguassu and 24 kilometers from Puerto Iguazu. Arrival to the Visitors Center and the Iguazu National Park Entrance.  Tours to the Argentine side of the Falls take place through the lower circuit catwalks, and the upper circuit. In order to visit the Devil’s Throat, the visitor must board the train at the Main Station or at the Cataratas Station, close to the Upper Circuit. For those who love trekking there is the one-kilometer-long Sendero Verde (Green Trail) that connects the Visitors Center to the Cataratas Station and to the Upper Circuit. Once you are at the Devil’s Throat Station you will have to walk for 1100 meters on a flat catwalk built over the Upper Iguassu River. This catwalk crosses several islands where there are snack bars to cater to visitors. Once you get to the end of the catwalks, you will be surprised by a strategic lookout point resting on the side of the gorgeous Devil’s Throat. Each station and catwalks have snack bars and toilets to cater to the visitor. During this visit the Falls will be seen from up close allowing for the detailed appreciation of both flora and fauna as well the Falls who are literally at the reach of one’s hands.

​Then do the Gran Aventura Boat ride (Great Adventure). Departing from the Operations Center or from the Visitors’ Center, we shall enter the jungle by the Yacaratiá trail in trucks specially designed for this environment. Bilingual guides (Spanish and English) will introduce the place’s natural and cultural resources. This 5 kms long stretch ends at Puerto Macuco. Watch out for monkeys, toucans and other animals along the way. At its dock, visitors will be given waterproof bags for gear , then you shall board on the boats that shall be sailing in the Lower Iguazu River for as long as 6 kms, heading towards the waterfalls area, enjoying plentiful rapids. Upon reaching the Tres Mosqueteros Fall, visitors shall be able to see the falls of both the Argentine and Brazilian sides crowned by the view of the Garganta del Diablo (Devil’s Throat). Afterwards, the most exciting point comes when facing the incomparable San Martín waterfall, the second in dimension and the hugest any boat may face. The boat gets close to the waterfalls, so you will get wet. After that we’ll navigate 6km down river until Puerto Macuco from where, after walking up hill 150 mts we’ll ride the trucks 6Km back to our Operative Center. Duration 2:15 Hs.
Then transfer to the Brazil airport for departure after 7 pm.

  • Yacutinga Lodge- Visit the jungle at a nearby beautiful lodge that people rave about. An environmentally friendly Lodge and Private Wildlife Nature Reserve located in the heart of the Argentinian Rainforest, surrounded by the Iguazu National Park
  • Ibera Wetlands- This area, which until only a few years ago was practically unexplored because of its waters, became a natural refuge for abundant and varied wildlife. The biodiversity of the marshes and lagoons of Ibera make it one of the most remarkable ecosystems in Argentina, like the Pantanal. Can be reached in a day from Iguassu.

  • Bird Park - This is a world-class standard Bird Park situated in 4 hectares of second-growth subtropical forest. There are over 500 birds on display, both indigenous and from other continents and visitors can be in contact with them without restriction of netting and cages. An important breeding program is in progress for some of the endangered species. The place is kept by professionals in biology, veterinary, agronomy. Duration of tour: 2 hour.
  • Bananeiras Trail - This excursion begins with a 1.6 km trail that can be covered on foot or by bicycle.Nature lovers can walk by small ponds where aquatic habitat birds and exuberant vegetation can be seen. Nature lovers can see species of flora and fauna native to the Iguassu National Park. The excursion combines navigation of the upper Iguassu River in bi-motor boats to the Poço Preto (Black Well) docks with a visit to a 10-meter-high observation tower from which Lagoa do Jacare do Poço Preto (Black Well Alligator Pond), rich in aquatic and land fauna, can be observed. In succession is the Arquipelago Ilha das Taquaras (Bamboo Island Archipelago), with the option of ducks (inflatable kayaks) to appreciate the scenery. Return is made to Porto Bananeiras (Banana Tree Port) or Porto Canoas (Canoe Port), always accompanied by skilled guides. (3 hours)

  • Poco Prieto Trail - The excursion begins on a 320-meter suspended footbridge in the heart of the National Park followed by a 9 km one-way trail that can be covered on foot or by bicycle. On this stretch, perfectly beautiful specimens of flora and fauna native to the Iguassu National Park can be seen. At the end of the trail there will be a short break to rest. At this point, a suspension bridge leads to a rustic 500-meter trail, at the end of which exists a 10-meter high observation tower. From the tower a panoramic view of the forest can be had, especially of Lagoa do Jacare (Alligator Pond), in which a great diversity of aquatic animals are concentrated. In succession, navigation of the upper Iguassu River is made, passing by the Arquipelago das Taquaras (Bamboo Archipelago), with the option of an excursion in inflatable kayak) and snorkeling to observe aquatic vegetation. The entire excursion is made with the accompaniment of skilled guides. The return is made via the rapids passing Ilha dos Papagaios (Parrot Island), where at sunrise and sunset the flight of thousands of parrots can be seen. Disembarkation can be made at Porto Bananeiras (Banana Tree Port) or Porto Canoas (Canoe Port). (5 hours)

  • Itaipu Dam - Itaipu Hydroelectric Dam, the largest in operation in the world, is a bi-national enterprise developed by Brazil and Paraguay on the Paraná River. The installed power output capacity of the dam is 12 million and 600 thousand kilowatts, with 20 generating turbines of 700 thousand kilowatts each. In 1997, Itaipu produced 89,2 billion kw-hour, a generating record ever to be attained by any other hydroelectric dam in the world. The dam is responsible for supplying 89% of the energy consumed in Paraguay and 25% of all the demand in the Brazilian market. As a work of engineering the dam was elected by the American Society of Civil Engineering (ASCE) as one of the Seven Wonders of the Modern World.
  • The spillway, the world's largest, has the capacity to control the flow of 62.000 cubic meters of water per second.- The volume of concrete used in the construction was 2,3 million cubic meters, enough to build an entire city for 4 million inhabitants.
    The tour includes a film about the construction and a bus ride around the dam where some view points were organized to allow the visitor a better view (not available Sundays and holidays)
  • Güirá Oga, on the Argentine side,  is a small wildlife rehabilitation center with the mission to rescue jungle animals from wildlife trafficking and also to rehabilitate animals injured by poachers, cars or humans.
    This fun visit is done in an open-air jungle jeep and includes an easy walk.
    Animals are in their natural habitat and visitors learn about the work they do to educate about and end wildlife trafficking, heal, feed and take care of the rescued fauna.
    This is a meaningful experience for little kids and parents to learn about the stories behind these rescued animals, endangered species in Iguazú, and the industry of wildlife trafficking that still exists today.
  • The Argentine Experience - An exciting participatory experience for all the family. This is a special dinner where guests get to absorb the local culture by preparing their own Argentine meal: they learn how to make an "empanada" or how to cook alfajores (local sweets filled with dulce de leche) and, of course, how to prepare their own mate. This is a fun, entertaining, participatory dinner far from just a restaurant experience.

Staying on Argentina Side

Touristic Eco Tax:   All hotels in Puerto Iguazu are obliged to charge a tax of $25 Argentinean pesos (approximately US$ 1,50) p/person, for maximum 2 days lodging, even if the lodging is for more than 2 days. It is mandatory to be paid direct to the hotel.

Day 1 - Arrival and reception at the Argentina airport. Transfer to the hotel.

Day 2 -  In the morning, we depart towards the Iguazú National Park to visit the Iguazú Falls, declared a Natural Heritage Site by UNESCO and one of the Seven Wonders of the Natural World. During the tour, we go through the three circuits of the Park: Garganta del Diablo (to reach the balcony and viewpoint of the most imposing falls of the Park), The Upper Trail (that provides a view of the falls from above) and The Lower Trail (that offers a closer contact with the vegetation and the falls). During the tour, free time to have lunch (not included) and to take The Great Adventure (optional). This boat ride takes you into the very heart of the falls followed by a walk through the jungle. In the afternoon, return to the hotel.

Day 3 -  In the morning, we visit the Brazilian side of the Falls. Once inside the National Park, we walk along the only path that leads us to Garganta del Diablo viewpoint. As we walk, we appreciate a view of almost all the waterfalls. At due time, transfer to the Argentine airport.

Operational notes:
Day 3: To do Brazilian Falls on the day of departure requires a later flight than 4 PM. In case of an early flight, it could be scheduled for day 1 with a flight arriving in the morning.

• The access to Garganta del Diablo can be interrupted because of the rise in river flow.

Argentine Experience
We invite you to a gastronomic experience in which, in addition to tasting a dinner with typical dishes from the region, you learn the most interesting features of Argentinian culture. The night begins with a demonstration of the local gastronomy. We taste the starter, main course and dessert, as we familiarize ourselves with the gestural language, the way of ordering meat, how to prepare traditional sweet delicacies or to drink the mate, a typical infusion of Argentina.

La Lorenza: Jungle and Culture
After a 45 minutes drive from Iguazú, we arrive to this private property where we will make a walk through a path in the rainforest, which is full of plants and birds, many of them endemic to the ecoregion. There, we will find a typical local house to capture the local life’s atmosphere. After a 2-km walk we rest on a deck which looks out over the magnificent Paraná River, the ideal site to enjoy mate or tereré (cold mate) while we exchange experiences.
