- 7 Days From Salta

Day 1 Salta.
Arrival at the airport and pick up of the rented vehicle. After the necessary procedures, drive for a short distance to the city of Salta. Leave the vehicle and explore Salta through its colonial streets and churches. (9 km driving - 20 minutes - 1200 m max. altitude)
 
Day 2 Salta / Purmamarca. B
Depart early driving through Del Toro Gorge, reaching the town of San Antonio de Los Cobres, from where you can take the Train to the Clouds if you wish. In the province of Jujuy, continue to Salinas Grandes Salt Flat and then, descend De Lipán Slope to Purmamarca. (418 km driving, including 143 km on gravel roads - 8-9 hours - 4170 m max. altitude)
 
Day 3 Purmamarca / Salta. B
Spend the day exploring the Humahuaca Gorge, Natural and Cultural Heritage Site by UNESCO. If you were brave, you could get to El Hornocal (Hill of the 14 Colours). Return to Salta. (352 km driving, including 42 km on gravel roads - 4 hours - 3000 m max. altitude)
 
Day 4 Salta / Molinos. B
Enjoy the Calchaquíes Valleys, through Del Obispo Slope. Visit villages such as Cachi, Seclantas and Molinos. (210 km driving, including 46 km on gravel roads - 5-6 hours - 3400 m max. altitude)
 
Day 5 Molinos / Cafayate. B
Continue along National Route 40 to tour De las Flechas Gorge, a curious formation produced by the erosion of water and wind. After admiring the landscape, continue to Cafayate where vineyards will welcome you. (116 km driving, including 92 km on gravel roads - 3 hours - 1660 m max. altitude)
 
Day 6 Cafayate / Salta. B
On the way to Salta, we visit De las Conchas or Cafayate gorges, while we stop to observe their curious formations. Continue driving and arrive at Salta. (198 km driving - 3 hours - 1660 m max. altitude)
 
Day 7 Salta. B
End of the adventure. Please, allow plenty of time for you to return your rented car at the airport. (9 km driving - 20 minutes - 1200 m max. altitude)

Operational note:
Day 2: The Train to the Clouds has fixed departure days starting at noon from S.A. de los Cobres and returning at 3PM.
 
To keep in mind:

  • The days of car rental could change according to the vehicle’s returning time.
