Tambopata Eco Lodge
- 3-5 days or moreThe remote location of the Eco lodge, 68 kilometers by river from the nearest settlement, deep in the forest and close to natural oxbow lake ecosystems, means that the most remarkable attractions of the South American rain forest can be reached easily in half-day or full-day excursions, while evenings can be spent relaxing and enjoying our hotel standard accommodation, restaurant and bar services.
It is officially certified as an Eco lodge by the Peruvian government and acknowledged as a genuinely responsible company fully committed to the conservation of rainforests that exist because we exist. In Peru it is ecotourism that has made it possible to create protected areas and save the forests of the Amazon basin from destruction. By working to encourage travelers to visit the rainforest, they are ensuring it will be around for future generations to appreciate. Pioneering projects like Tambopata Eco lodge, established in 1991, provide the model that teaches local people the importance of conservation, by demonstrating that forests are worth more to us all when they are left to flourish.
The exteriors of the cabin-like rooms are designed from local materials to harmonize with their surroundings. The Ecolodge’s interiors have been created with your comfort in mind, while many of the materials employed have been imported to the zone to minimize local environmental impact, while enhancing the luxurious feel of the accommodation. Rooms are spacious, well-decorated, comfortable and fully-screened against insects.

We recommend flights arriving (and returning) between 10:40 am and 1:00 pm.
If there are more than 4 Ecolodge guests on the same flight, they will share one boat and depart immediately for the Ecolodge. If there are one or two couples and there are no other guests on the same flight, they will remain in Puerto Maldonado until the next flight arrives with more guests. Not recommended, because you will arrive very late to Puerto Maldonado and it will not be possible to go to the lodge at this time - LA2077 arriving MON WED FRI at 14:02 or LA2081 arriving at 16:35 Not recommended for return flight: LA 2078 departing MON WED FRI at 14:30, or later flights. |
The remote Chuncho clay lick is a 2-3 hour boat ride from Tambopata Ecolodge. Guests are invited to stay at the lodge’s excellently equipped campsite, in anticipation of the following morning’s event. In addition to parrots and macaws, this riverside clay deposit is also visited regularly by parakeets, monkeys, deer, tapir and peccaries (Rainforest Adventure itinerary). Colorado, the world’s largest known clay lick, is a 4-hour boat ride upriver from Tambopata Ecolodge, deep in the heart of the National Reserve. Macaws and parrots often gather in huge numbers at this isolated riverbank, in what is indisputably one of the greatest displays the forests of South America can offer visitors (Rainforest Journey and Expedition itineraries).
