Whale Watching on the Pacific Coast at Nuqui
Nuquí is a tiny town of the Colombian pacific coast known for its great biodiversity, being an ideal ecotourism destination with different options of natural activities depending on the season of the year. It is a place where you can disconnect in small isolated villages while enjoying the vibes of afro-Colombian people and their gastronomy, surrounded by amazing nature, several river streams, empty wild beaches and a blue ocean full of underwater
life. In this place you can do hikes in the jungle searching for birds and species like the golden poison frog, swim in unique hot-springs or scuba-diving in well-preserved corals, with whale sharks during the sardines’ migration (From April to May) or live the most famous event that occurs between July to October which is the humpback whale migration. DAY 1: (06:30 to 10:30) – Meeting time at airport of Medellín. (the meeting time can change depending on the day chosen). You will
take a 1 hour flight to Nuquí town, where the local team will receive you at the local airport and will transfer you by boats to the beaches of Guachalito, the most famous beaches of the area, where your hotel is located and you will be welcomed with a nice traditional lunch. In the afternoon you will do a hike towards the Love waterfall and then at night you will have dinner and rest at the hotel. DAY 2: (07:00) – Breakfast at the hotel and then departure to do the whale-watching in small private boats, in order to have more comfort and security during the navigation (Only from July to October), or other activities depending on the season of the year. After the activity you will have lunch at the hotel. In the afternoon you will do a hike to the community of Joví where you can interact with the locals and enjoy the Joví river with its crystalline freshwater. Afterwards you will have time to enjoy the famous pacific coast sunsets and will end the day by heading back to the hotel in order to have dinner and rest. DAY 3: (07:00) – Breakfast at the hotel and then navigation in boats or hike (depending on the tide of that hour) towards the village of Termales, where you can find unusual hot-springs in the middle of the jungle close to the ocean and will have lunch there. In case of going by hike, you will walk through the seashore with amazing views of the beautiful beaches of the area that are next to the jungle. On the way back, you will have navigation boats or hike back to the hotel (depending on the tide of that hour) and will have dinner and rest at the hotel. DAY 4: (08:00) – Breakfast at the hotel and free time to do several activities such as coordinate a boat trip in order to visit of Utría National Park, do a hike towards Coqui village where you can taste traditional dishes of the region or just enjoy the beaches of Guachalito. You will have lunch at the hotel and free afternoon where you can coordinate one of the same activities we mentioned before. At night you will have dinner and rest at the hotel. DAY 5: (07:00) – Breakfast at the hotel and then free time till the hour for departure to the airport. Then a boat will take you to Nuquí town where the airport is located in order to take your flight back to Medellín to the airport, (the departure time will depend on the schedule for the day and can be from 9 AM till 2 PM). The flight takes 1 hour to get to Medellín where your journey will end. |
