Then, we walk to the high area of the city and start our way towards Serrano and Primavera. This is the local people’s hangout. It is an interesting place on the river where the floor is conglomerate rock which has been polished over millions of years. There are many natural pools to go swimming and get a hydromassage. The water comes down its natural course and goes underneath the rocks and re-appears and goes underground and up again. After this we will go to the sandstone rooms. Long ago it was possible to see many different colors of sand but nowadays you will see white, purple and black. After we go through this labyrinth of sandstone we will head for the Little Waterfall that the people call Cachoeirinha. Here you can go in the water under the waterfall and get energized to go up the mountain to Primavera Waterfall. This waterfall is much stronger and the massage is great. After this we will go to the Lookout where you can get a view of the hills and the valleys and of course Lençóis. Day 7 - Highlights tour
We depart by car at 08:30a.m for a full day Chapada Diamantina highlight tour. First, we proceed by car to visit the Lapa Doce Cave. We’ll cross the 1km cave appreciating the rock formation, stalactites, stalagmites, columns with its million years of formation process. Then, we get in the car to Pratinha farm. A lake of crystal-clear water with tiny sea shells at the entrance of the cave creates an incredibly surprising oasis of beauty. A local guide can be hired to go snorkeling 120 meters (390 feet) into the cave with flippers and a flashlight. In the same area there is another cave called Blue Cave. It has this name because the sun rays enter at 2:00 o’clock pm and the light in the crystal water turns an unforgettable blue. Swimming is not permitted here. To end our day, we go for a 20min hike up to the peak of Pai Inacio Hill, having a 360º splendid view of the Chapada Diamantina. Enjoy the sunset! (B) |
