Deep Patagonia Group Tour - 11 Days
DAY 1: ARRIVAL IN PUNTA ARENAS
After arriving at the Punta Arenas Airport, a transfer will take us to our hotel. In the afternoon, we will visit the Nao Victoria Museum and later we will partake in a tour around this picturesque city. In the evening, we will enjoy a delicious meal at a local restaurant. Overnight in Punta Arenas. (D) DAY 2: PUNTA ARENAS – TORRES DEL PAINE Today there will be a transfer waiting for us in the morning to take us to Torres del Paine. To get there we will headnorth towards the city of Puerto Natales. Right before arriving to the national park, we will make a stop to visit another wonder of Patagonia, the Mylodon Cave. This 200m long cave was named after the prehistoric giant sloth that was discovered there in 1895. There we will take a few minutes to explore this natural monument and to enjoy our box lunch before continuing on our trip. Overnight in Torres del Paine. (B, BL) DAY 3: TORRES DEL PAINE This is one of the most spectacular parks in Chile due to its unique wildlife and dramatic scenery. The Torres del Paine National Park is best known for its steep granite towers and the great Paine Massif that is surrounded by glaciers, river rapids and beautiful emerald lakes. This site was designated a World Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO in 1978 and it boasts many rewarding hiking trails, lookout points, flora and fauna. Overnight in Torres del Paine. (B, BL) DAY 4: TORRES DEL PAINE – EL CHALTÉN Today we will leave Torres del Paine behind and head east towards Argentina. After crossing the border, we will continue our journey through the vast and barren pampa until reaching our destination. Overnight in El Chaltén. (B, BL) DAY 5: TREKKING CAPRI LAGOON – EL CALAFATE In the morning, we will begin our trekking adventure through native vegetation to the Capri Lagoon. The trail will be a bit demanding; however, the sights along the way will be more than rewarding. This blue water lagoon sits in a lush valley boasting a fantastic view of the Fitz Roy massif. Upon arrival, we will have time to relax and take several pictures. Afterwards we will begin our return journey. Later that day we will leave El Chaltén and make our way to El Calafate. Just before reaching our destination, we make a stop to visit an ice museum offering interactive exhibitions and impressive information. Overnight in El Calafate. (B, BL) DAY 6: EL CALAFATE – PERITO MORENO GLACIER Today we will visit the impressive Perito Moreno Glacier, boasting an extension of about 200km2 / 124mi2. From time to time, gigantic pieces of ice break down from its ice-walls and fall into the Argentino Lake. Here we will witness the magnificence of nature as the cold breeze of the Patagonia fills our lungs. After this wonderful experience, we will return to our hotel. Overnight in El Calafate. (B, BL) DAY 7: EL CALAFATE – ESTANCIA MONTE DINERO Today will be spent primary on the road enjoying our contrasting landscapes and surroundings. Our destination is a large typical Patagonian ranch originally established in 1880 and home to over 26,000 hectares. Overnight at Estancia Monte Dinero. (B, D) DAY 8: VISIT TO PENGUIN COLONY After our breakfast, we will have the opportunity to roam this vast land and take in the sights. Towards afternoon, we will stop for a snack at a local eatery and then proceed to a sector known as Cabo Vírgenes, which is home to one of the largest Magellanic penguin colonies of the continent. Evening at leisure. Overnight at Estancia Monte Dinero. (B, SNACK, D) |
DAY 9: ESTANCIA MONTE DINERO – BLANCO LAKE
Our journey today will start early in the morning. After having breakfast we will leave our accommodation and continue our adventure far to the south. Once we arrive to the Punta Delgada Lighthouse, we will take a ferry to continue toward the Inútil Bay on the island of Tierra del Fuego. It is there after following the road for several kilometers where we will find the majestic King Penguins. After an up-close look and many pictures, we will continue our journey until reaching Blanco Lake, in the middle of the forest. Overnight near Blanco Lake. (B, BL, D) DAY 10: BLANCO LAKE – USHUAIA Our trip today will take us to the southernmost city of the world: Ushuaia. On the way we plan to visit an old traditional sheep farm where we will be able to talk to the owners and learn a little bit more about life in this remote place of the Earth. Overnight in Ushuaia. (B) DAY 11: DEPARTURE This morning we will enjoy a brief city tour through Ushuaia before saying goodbye to this corner of the world.
