This Inca road to the Machu Picchu of Northern Peru is rated better than the Inca Trail in the south by  guests that tried both. You follow major Inca roads by horseback or on foot, cross the Cordillera Central and descend to a level of coffee farms. This birthplace of the Amazon River valley was first explored in the 1980's by Gene Savoy who claimed discovery of over twenty thousand stone structures of the Cloud People, many of which are still unexcavated.  The conclusion of the trek is the fortress of Kuelap, the largest building structure of the Americas containing 400 buildings. Kuelap is a larger scale of the many lost stone citadels in Gran Vilaya. These feature stone walls with 15 to 200 buildings, -- covered with bromeliads and orchids and hidden in the cloud forest.

DAY ONE: ARRIVE TO CHACHAPOYAS
You will be met at the airport and transferred to the Chacahapoyas Backpacker Boutique Hotel. Free day to explore

DAY TWO: VISIT OF GOCTA WATERFALL (8 HOURS HIKE) 16 KM.

• After breakfast we will leave from Chachapoyas at 7:30 am to San Pablo community to start our hike at 8:30 in the morning, appreciating the two waterfalls, fields of sugar cane and other typical local products. We will descend into a habitat known as the Cloud Forest in this part of Peru.  This is the habitat of Peru’s national bird, the Andean Cock of the Rock, the yellow-tailed woolly monkey and a multitude of hummingbirds and other tropical birds.  The path ends at the base of the beautiful Gocta waterfall, then we will get back to the special wiewpoint where we will enjoy the spectacular two falls of the waterfall and others waterfalls around the mountains. (Picnic enjoying the nature) After it we will continue our hike to the base of the second fall, enjoying the beautiful landscapes, and more waterfall around the mountains, after it we will returns to the community of Cocachimba, where our vehicle awaits us to take us to the city of Chachapoyas.

Trail to Gocta Waterfall

DAY THREE: VISIT THE SECRET TUMBS OF THE CHACHAPOYAS PEOPLE LIKE PUEBLO DE LOS MUERTOS AND KARAJIA SARCOPHAGI

• After breakfast we leave from Chachapoyas at 8:00 am towards at pueblo de los Muertos parking lot. Hence we will start the hiking appreciating the canyons of Utcubamba and Sonche, and the Gocta waterfall as well. Arrival and visit the place call Pueblo de los Muertos which was built at the cliff mountains facing at the sunrise. After it we will return to the parking lot in order to go to town of Lamud, where we will have lunch. After that we will continue the tour towards Cruz Pata’s community from where we will walk until the amazing Karajía’s Sarcophagi, a unique Chachapoyas funeral pattern. Then, we will head to Ticlla a special place to take photos of Huaylla Belén valley, it has more than 16 kilometers long, where the river looks like a snake. Finally, we will continue our tour until the valley itself where we will camp and relax in our tents. Enjoying of this magical place totally alone and only for us in the middle of nowhere.

DAY FOUR: HIKING AND DISCOVER THE LOST CITIES OF THE CHACHAPOYAS PEOPLE

• After breakfast we will start our hiking at 8:30 am from Huaylla Belén valley along a pre-Hispanic trail (Inca trail), enjoying of the exuberant vegetation, and habitat for The Gray Breasted Mountain Toucan, many species of Hummingbirds, Trogons and other local birds’ species. Arrival at the archeological remain called La Pirquilla, a Chachapoya town lost in the middle of the forest containing more than 400 circular houses, with rock bases at different levels (In that case we will look like the Indiana Johns of the Andes). After lunch (Box Lunch) we will walk towards Congón village with a panoramic view of El Gran Vilaya valley. Here we will taste the natural coffee produced by the locals and stay in a family house where we will appreciate the life style of households. Like that you will live an experience in the coffee plantation, you will hand peel your own coffee and then roasted it to enjoy as well.  ​​​​

DAY FIVE: HIKE AND DISCOVER THE LOST CITY OF CHACHAPÓYAS CALLED LANCHE

• After breakfast we will start trekking from Congon village at 7:00 am in the middle of the cloud forest, rivers and mountains, which are habitat for the Andes toucan, collared Inca hummingbirds, trogons and other local birds species, and we will arrive to the archeological remain called Lanche, an ancient Chachapoyan town lost in the forest containing more than 300 circular houses, with rock bases at different levels. After that, we will have lunch in a special place with a panoramic view of this tourist attraction and also the Gran Vilaya valley. Then we will head to Yumal, hence there is a beautiful view of the whole of the mountains, and the most important archeological monument among the Northeastern Peruvian ones call: Kuelap (3000 m. a. s. l).  Finally, we will continue the tour, this time by car, until Kuelap’s community. Accommodation at a local hostal or tents. (In the morning we can enjoy the sunrise in front of the Archaeological complex) Drinking a cup of coffee. 

DAY SIX: VISIT THE MOST IMPORTANT ARCHEOLOGICAL MONUMENT AMONG THE NORTHEASTERN PERUVIAN ONES CALL: KUELAP

• We will get up at 5:40 am to enjoy the sunrise in front of the monument drinking a cup of coffee, then we will take advantage to take picture in this magical moment. 
• After breakfast we will start our hike at 8:40 am up to the archeological complex of Kuélap, where we will be the first group in this important place and will be only for us (arrival and a two-hour tour, where your guide will explain hypothesis, theories, the main history of this wonderful place and much more). Likewise, from the inside we will have a spectacular view to the four cardinal points (East, West, North and South), and after returning to La Malca Station to take the cable car to get back to Tingo Village where we will have our lunch and then our transportation we will head to Chachapoyas city, arrival then transfer to the bus station so that you can catch an evening bus to Chiclayo or you can add on  one night in the city of Chachapoyas and fly the next day to Lima.

• if you cancel 30 days or more prior to travel, a full refund is granted. Less than 30 days, full refund minus 25% of amount paid is granted.
