ITINERARY STARTING ON SUNDAY
Day 1 - Sunday: Transfer Airport / Hotel. Day 2 - Monday: Breakfast. City Tour & Equatorial Monument A comprehensive city tour includes visits to the Basilica Church. Walking through the colonial streets we will then stop at the Independence Plaza admiring the Cathedral, the Government's Palace, and the archiepiscopal palace. Furthermore, we will visit La Compañia Church where adornments and gold altars can be appreciated, a visit to the Sagrario Church and San Francisco which was built in the XVII century will be also done (entrance is not included). Then we will be heading to the "Panecillo Mirador" (entrance is included) a beautiful place from where a sight of colonial and modern Quito will be enjoyed. We will continue at the northern part of the city heading up to the "Middle of the World City" (entrance is included) where the monument that divides the Northern Hemisphere from the Southern Hemisphere will be visited. It was built during the XVII century when a French Expedition defined the precise location of the equatorial line. The Ethnographic Museum can also be visited (entrance is not included) Finally we can visit the Sky lift complex (ticket not include), passengers returns to hotels on their own in this case. Day 3 - Tuesday: Breakfast. Excursion to Otavalo Market Depart from Quito through the Panamericana North, we will visit the town of Calderon with its typical ¨masapan¨ handicrafts. Brief stop in Cayambe where the equatorial line crosses diving the world in two hemispheres. Continuing we will arrive to Otavalo to visit its Indian market, full of Ecuador typical handicrafts. Lunch and in the afternoon we will visit the town of Cotacachi where you will find leather goods, next a visit to the Cuicocha Lake, dinner and accommodation in Hosteria Puerto Lago. Day 4 - Wednesday: Breakfast. Visit visit a musical instrument workshop where you can experience the making of andean instruments, later you will visit a flower plantation and finally visit an hacienda, where they make local foods like the famous "Helados de Paila" (ice cream made by hand in big & deep pots) and the traditional biscuit fingers. In the afternoon return to Quito. Day 5 - Thursday: Breakfast. Excursion to Cotopaxi National Park & Hacienda. Depart from Quito through The Panamericana South Highway, enjoying the beautiful landscapes of the place, we will visit the Saquisilí market (only Thursdays) where native people of the region expose and sell their handicrafts, then we will continue to the impressive active volcano Cotopaxi (5.897 m. High). During our stay at the National Park we will visit its museum, the natural environment of the place, its animals and plants, stop a the Limpiopungo lake, and continue to the typical hacienda. Lunch and In the afternoon you will have the opportunity to go horseback riding, mountain biking, or take a walk around the paths. You can experience the milking in an Andean hacienda. Dinner and lodging. Entrance to the Cotopaxi National Park is not included. Day 6 - Friday: Breakfast. You will do Canopy at the Santa Rita Hacienda and after that, enjoy a delicious home-made soup in a cozy Hacienda. In the afternoon back to Quito. Day 7 - Sunday: Breakfast. Transfer Hotel / Airport. |
