Tanimboca Amazon Tours

#1 - Macunas + Marasha +
​Puerto Narino - 5 days

Day 1: Arrival to the Leticia airport. From there you will be taken you by road 11 kilometers to the natural reserve “la Arenosa”, where you can enjoy a grilled fish for lunch - a typical Amazon meal and we can review the activities schedule. At this place you will spend the night in some nice cabins on the edge of the jungle. After dark a guide will take you for a night walk in the jungle to observe the nocturnal wild life. Finishing the walk we we’ll serve you diner a pizza “a la Amazonas”

Day 2: After a good breakfast we´ll continue with your day expedition in to the jungle. This day we will visit an Indian settlement of the Macuna Indians, it will take us about two hours of trekking to get there. At this place we show you a little bit of their traditions and the way of planting the fields. Not far away there is the Tacana River ideal for swimming and some fishing. In the afternoon we come back to the reserve.

Day 3: Early morning you´ll have breakfast and afterwards we´ll take you to the harbor of Leticia, with a boat you´ll go up the Amazon River to a beautiful Natural Reserve on the Peruvian side of the river. The way of getting to this Natural Reserve depends on the time of the year. During the dry season you`ll have to walk around 45 minutes through a path in the jungle. During the rainy season you`ll take a small canoe.

You`ll enjoy the time at this place, there are a lot of birds, monkeys and other wild life that can be easily observed, delicious meals and activities such as canoeing and hiking. The giant lotus flower and the huge Ceiba tree can be also seen. At night you’ll have the opportunity to go in search of caimans, with luck you`ll find one. You’ll spend the night at “Marasha” natural reserve.

Day 4: In the morning you`ll go back to the Amazon river and take a private boat, 80 kilometers to PUERTO NARIÑO. On the way up the river you`ll stop in Macedonia,  an indigenous community specialized in wood carving. From there we go straight to Puerto Nariño located at the side of the Loretoyacu River. It’s a beautiful, calm and peaceful village; there are no vehicles on the small walking paths. After lunch you`ll visit the Natutama foundation museum, where you`ll learn about life under the water.

In the afternoon you`ll go by boat to the Tarapoto lakes to observe the pink and grey dolphins, enjoy the beautiful view and swim in these relaxing waters. You`ll spend the night in Puerto Nariño.

Day 5: Early morning you`ll start your trip back to Leticia. Once in Leticia you`ll have some free hours to recognize the city, there is an ethnographic museum which you can visit and also the city of Tabatinga in Brazil. Transfer to the  airport.

#2 - Treehouse + Canopy Tour + Indigenous
​+ Marasha Reserve - 5 days

Day 1: Arrival to the Leticia  airport, from there you will be taken by road 11 kilometers to a natural reserve, where you can enjoy a grilled fish for lunch a typical Amazon meal. In this place we can talk about your expedition, review the activities schedule and then we´ll make a short walk through the jungle to the tree house where you’ll spend the night.

After the installation arrangements and a short break at the cabins, one of our guides will take you to a night walk through the jungle where you can appreciate the jungle’s nocturnal wild life. For dinner we´ll serve you a delicious pizza “a la Amazonas” and afterwards your guide will bring you back to the tree house.

Day 2: After breakfast you´ll do the canopy tour. There are 4 observation platforms connected with steel cables and a hanging bridge . The access to the first platform is by rope climbing. Crossing from one platform to another is through a zip line, by which you practically “fly” from tree to tree. Descend is done from the last platform by rappel.

After finishing the canopy tour you we´ll continue with a jungle expedition of approximately 2 hours, from Tanimboca reserve to a nice house inside the jungle. This is the place where you will spend the night.

After lunch you walk to an Indian “maloca” (term for a traditional Indigenous house) in which several families lived together, sharing their culture and knowledge. During the afternoon the native guide will show and teach you about the traditional plants and their uses, how to build things with jungle materials and how to fish in the nearby river which is ideal to go swimming.

Day 3: After breakfast, you`ll walk back to Tanimboca and get your things, then go to Leticia and get a boat which will take you up the Amazon river to a beautiful Natural Reserve on the Peruvian side of the river.

The way of getting to this Natural Reserve depends of the time of the year. During the dry season you`ll have to walk around 45 minutes through a path in the jungle. During the rainy season you`ll take a small canoe.

Day 4:In the morning you`ll go back to the Amazon river and take a private boat, 80 kilometers to PUERTO NARIÑO. On the way up the river you`ll stop in Macedonia an indigenous community specialized in wood carving. In the afternoon you`ll go by boat to Tarapoto lakes to observe the pink and grey dolphins.
Enjoy the beautiful view and swim in these relaxing waters.
You`ll spend the night in Puerto Nariño.

Day 5: Early morning you`ll start your trip back to Leticia.
Once in Leticia you`ll have some free hours to visit the city. There is an ethnographic museum which you can visit and also the city of Tabatinga in Brazil. Transfer to the Leticia airport.

#3 - Treehouse + Canop Tour + Kayaking + Macunas + Marasha Reserve - 6 days

Day 2: After breakfast you´ll do the canopy tour. There are 4 observation platforms connected with steel cables and a hanging bridge . The access to the first platform is by rope climbing. Crossing from one platform to another is through a zip line, by which you practically “fly” from tree to tree. Descend is done from the last platform by rappel.After finishing the canopy tour we will continue with a jungle expedition. After a one hour walk through the jungle we´ll get to a settlement of an Indian family living by the small Tacana River. There we will have lunch and then we´ll start going down the river with the kayaks. In the afternoon the native guide will look for an ideal spot to build a camp for the night. After dinner you can go with the guide for a walk looking for exotic animals and do some fishing.

Day 3: During this day we´ll go on with the kayaks, at some good spot we have lunch and keep on until we get to a maloca (traditional Indian house) from the Macuna tribe. After a rest we´ll walk about 30 minutes and arrive to a nice house in the jungle where we will spend the rest of the day relaxing with good comfort.

Day 4: After breakfast, we walk back to Tanimboca and get your equipment, then we bring you to Leticia to get a boat which will take you up the Amazon river to a beautiful Natural Reserve on the Peruvian side of the river. The way of getting to this Natural Reserve depends of the time of the year. Day 5: In the late morning we`ll start our trip back to the Amazon River where a boat takes us to the spots where you can observe the pink and gray dolphins. On the way back to Leticia we will stop at a nice place for lunch. In the afternoon you can watch a spectacle at the main park in Leticia. Every evening thousands of parrots come back to the resting trees in the park.Afterwards a taxi takes you to the reserve where you´ll have dinner. The last night you spend in a nice cabin by a small creek.

Day 6: After breakfast you go with a taxi to Leticia, you`ll have some free hours to visit Leticia and its neighboring city of Tabatinga or visit an ethnographic museum. In the afternoon we take you to the airport of Leticia.

Crossing from one platform to another is through a zip line, by which you practically “fly” from tree to tree. Descend is done from the last platform by rappel.Then you will continue with a jungle hiking expedition for the next two days. The first day you´ll have about a 3 to 4 hours hike to get to a creek where you will build your first night camp sleeping in hammock. After dark the indigenous guide takes you for a walk along the creek to look for some exotic animals and do some fishing.

Day 3: During this day you will see huge trees as you hike and with some luck your guide will spot some animals, he will show you how easy it is for them to find everything necessary to survive having fun.In the afternoon you´ll put up a camp and at night you go for a walk if you like.

Day 4: After breakfast, you`ll walk back to Tanimboca and get your things, then we´ll bring you to Leticia to get a boat which will take you up the Amazon river to a beautiful Natural Reserve on  the Peruvian side of the river.The way of getting to this Natural Reserve depends of the time of the year. Day 5: In morning you`ll start your trip back to the Amazon River where a boat takes you to the spots where you can observe the pink and gray dolphins. On the way back to Leticia you will stop at the Peruvian island Santa Rosa for lunch. In the afternoon you can watch a spectacle at the main park in Leticia.Every evening thousands of parrots come back to the resting trees in the park. Afterwards a taxi takes you to the reserve where you´ll have a meal. You´ll spend the last night in a nice cabin by a small creek.

Day 6: After breakfast you´ll go with a taxi to Leticia, you`ll have some free hours to recognize the city, there is an ethnographic museum which you can visit and also the city of Tabatinga in Brazil. Transfer to the Leticia airport.

#5 - Treehouse + Camping +
Kayaking + Climbing/Rapelling

Day 2: After finishing breakfast we start an expedition. The trekking takes place in a primary jungle. This day you'll hike about 6 hours to reach a small creek where you´ll put up the first camp. Close by there is an area where the trees are very small full with bromeliads and orchids. The jaguars like to hide out there and it is quite easy to find some track from them. At night the native guides take´s you for a walk along the creek looking for some animals and to do some fishing.

Day 3: In the morning, after breaking down the camp you'll continue going deeper into the jungle. During the trekking you will see giant trees and with luck some animals. In the afternoon you'll get to a place where a small stream comes out of the ground loaded with minerals - a spot where all kind of animals come to eat the mud to neutralize the toxins from the plants they feed on. Close by you build your camp and at night you´ll go back to the stream and with luck you can observe some wild life.

Day 4: After breakfast you´ll start walking the final part until you'll get to an Indian settlement by the Tacana River. Here you have the lunch and a little break. From there you´ll start going down the river with the kayaks. In the late afternoon you will arrive to a Maloca (traditional Indian house) there you´ll spend the night. In the evening you can listen to the stories from the Indians.

Day 5: This day you´ll keep on going with the kayaks until you'll reach the spot from where you´ll walk a half hour to get to a nice house in the jungle where you will spend the night.

Day 6: In the morning you`ll walk back to Tanimboca reserve and then we take you to our small reptile zoo and then tree climbing.

Crossing from one platform to another is through a zip line, by which you practically “fly” from tree to tree. Descend is done from the last platform by rappeling. After finishing the canopy tour you walk for 20 minutes to our restaurant where you have lunch. For the night you stay in a cabin on the edge of the jungle, the rest of the afternoon is free.

Day 7: Early morning you´ll have breakfast and than a taxi will take you to the harbor of Leticia, with a boat you´ll go up the Amazon River to a beautiful Natural Reserve on the Peruvian side of the river.

Then you will continue with a jungle hiking expedition for the next two days. The first day you´ll have about a 3 to 4 hours hike to get to a creek where you will build your first night camp sleeping in hammock. After dark the indigenous guide takes you for a walk along the creek to look for some exotic animals and do some fishing.

In the afternoon we start our way back down river to Leticia . Back in Leticia we will se a spectacle at the main park in town. Thousands of bird's,  parrots and swallows are coming to sleep in the trees from the park. Afterwards we bring you back to the reserve to your bungalow .

Day 4: Early morning you`ll start your trip back to Leticia. Once in Leticia you`ll have some free hours to recognize the city. There is an ethnographic museum which you can visit and also the city of Tabatinga in Brazil. Transfer to the Leticia airport.
