Day 1 Airport - Salta
We welcome you at the Salta Airport and transfer to our accommodation. The rest of the day will be free for us to discover this particular city. One of the local staff will meet you at the hotel to give you all the necessary information about the trip, including pickup times, vouchers, bus tickets, etc. and to clarify all possible doubts. Lodging at Hosteria double or single. Meals we provide: none. Day 2 Salta - Cafayate - Hualfín The journey starts from Salta city to the south, through route 68, in the Lerma Valley visiting devil's throat and other typical land forms. We enter the Quebrada de las Conchas arriving at Cafayate. Lodging at Hostería double or single. Meals we provide: Breakfast Day 3 Hualfín - Quilmes - Antofagasta de la Sierra This day we continue on Route 40 from Hualfin to El Eje, Cuesta de Indalesio and Cuesta de Randolfo, with spectacular sand dunes and entered the Puna, where we can see the elegant vicuñas, usually gathered in flocks near a vega. Finally we arrive at El Peñon, a very little village near Carachi Pampa volcanic plains. Here we enter a volcanic world. Lodging at Hostería double or single. Meals we provide: Breakfast & box lunch Day 4 Pumice Field - Antofagasta de la Sierra This day we will have our excursion through pumice field, a strange but dazzling landscape carved into the rock unique in the world. This field has been caused by a big volcanic explosion and we will see a great number of holes produced by the escape of gases during the cooling period. Lodging at Hosteria double or single. Meals we provide: Breakfast & box lunch Day 5 Antofagasta de la Sierra Today we have to choice to perform different activities, such as visiting the Real Grande with its fields of tuff stones, the pucará of Coiparcito or the slopes of the volcano Antofagasta to have a great view of the area. Simple Lodging. Meals we provide: Breakfast Day 6 Antofagasta - Cono de Arita - Tolar Grande After breakfast we begin our journey. We cross the Punilla stream, ascending the Cabalaste canyon and then descending to the Salar de Antofalla, a salt flat that will amaze you with its beautiful landscape. We arrive at Antofalla town, where 40 people live. After leaving Antofalla we will go into the fabulous Salar de Arizaro to reach "Cono de Arita", volcanic formation inside the Salar where we take a short trek 30 minutes to get to its base. After lunch we also visit "Ojos de Mar" and "El Arenal". In the afternoon we reach the town of Tolar Grande, where we stay. Lodging at Hosteria double or single. Day 7 Tolar Grande - Salta We depart early in the morning through the immensity of the altiplano, with salt lakes and volcanoes, to get into the Devil Desert and the Domes Desert, passing through small villages that developed in times of mining and railroad. We cross Abra del Chorrillo (4560 mmsnm.) descending to San Antonio de los Cobres a typical village nestled over 4,000m. After visiting San Antonio we arrive at the pre-Hispanic city of Santa Rosa de Tastil with its legendary ruins. We continue through Quebrada del Toro towards Campo Quijano, finally arriving in Salta city. Lodging at Hosteria double or single. Meals we provide: Breakfast.
