Have you or are you considering doing a tour or cruise to the Galapagos Islands? Have you already started looking at all of the options? There's a lot of them, aren't there? I just looked at the number of companies that exhibit at the South American trade show that I attend every year and I counted 28 that offer options to the Galapagos Islands. And that is just the number of companies who are willing to pay to meet with travel agents from all over the world! There are many other small companies that offer tours and cruises that other companies operate or they just have 1 small boat or hotel, so it is not worth it for them to pay to try to appeal to a worldwide audience.
| Even many big tour companies from other countries don't operate or own their own cruise boats - they either charter boats or they feed into the departure dates that the actual boat owners or operators have set. I remember a representative from Globus Tours asking me for help because some of their groups were getting bumped from ships and so they were looking for a new operator. These companies might just add a couple of hotel nights and airport transfers to a cruise and price it as a package. That is exactly what we could do. |  |
If you contact a company that owns 2 or 3 boats, then they are going to try to sell you a cruise on one of their boats, whether it suits your interests or not. And they will have to depend on the space that they have available on their boats. If they don't have space available for the dates that you need, then maybe you will contact another company and go through the same procedure with them. Did you know that there are around 75 boats that operate in the Galapagos? It would take you a while to contact all of the owners or operators of those boats. Same thing for the hotels on the islands.
