- if you bring your children they have special activities for them. Things like - circle of fire story telling, an interactive children's trail, and rainforest tattoos
- if you want to contribute to long-term research and conservation efforts, you can participate in their "aerobotany" project, where you view areal photos taken by drones. Or you can help researchers build a DNA library by analyzing field data and cataloging rare insect species. If you discover a new one, you can choose the name for it!. In the 8 months since the program started, 8 new species have been discovered by clients. The AmazonCam is another project. Cameras are installed all through the forest so that researchers can remotely view what is going on and participants can also view the photos. These are some of the Wired Amazon collection of science projects, which allows Refugio Amazonas Lodge’s guests to engage with a very diverse group of scientists and their research, help collect important data, and even have the chance to discover a species new to science! It’s great not only for science enthusiasts, but also for families, and adventure seekers alike. March is designated as Science Month and during that time period there are more opportunities to visit with researchers. In 2018, there will be 2 "boot camps", March 12-17 and 26-31. During these 2 weeks, adults and kids can get immersed in science by participating in even more activities and lectures!
